Event | Sinbrilee | Bacchanal

Characters: Any and all!
Date: August 24 - 30th
Location: Sinbrilee
Situation: An ancient festival of an ancient city, all are welcome at the Bacchanal!
Warnings/Rating: Please label threads as appropriate.

Death and destruction cannot curtail the single most important festival celebrated by the denizens of Sinbrilee: The Bacchanal! The ghosts in and about the city have begun to gossip about high fashion and festivities, sending any that inquire to the Amphitheatre -- a grand, circular structure nestled in the west side of the city.

This structure bore the fall of Sinbrilee and the wear of time with dignity, having lost handfuls of archways and one long stretch of wall to crumbling decay. Despite this, it is obvious that the amphitheatre once hosted many a display and every more festivities than the mind can grasp. This was their solace and safety; here is where the people of Sinbrilee came to find the mind's escape from all that threatened them and their great turtle.

Ghosts have been busy throughout the week, clearing paths through debris and hanging great cloth banners of soft blues and greens to disguise the more blatant signs of its decline. Many hundreds of them shimmer and slid through the area, providing for tables upon tables of food, offering drink, and overseeing competition of sport and skill (some even denying death's non-corporeal curse to enter).

Here, well... Here is where the party begins!

[Ricardo on the other hand looks everything short of bored by the competition even if he is paying a good amount of attention to it.]

I think the man who won that last match would be able to advance quite far. What do you think?
oathwalk: (033)

[personal profile] oathwalk 2013-08-28 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
[Ricardo you need to learn to have fun. Richard smiles.] It's most likely. At the least, he has proven himself a fine warrior and will leave the field with honour.

[He comes from a warrior culture, okay? ...Even if he looks like a delicate nobleman. That sword isn't just for show.]
passively: (calmly (drink some tea).)

[personal profile] passively 2013-08-28 08:08 am (UTC)(link)
[Ricardo wouldn't doubt it. He knows of Sickle and Frank and how much their appearance doesn't match up with their respective personality and skill.]

I guess that's quite rewarding, too. I didn't think you'd be the type to be so interested in sports like this.
oathwalk: (and also well fitted to our intimacy)

[personal profile] oathwalk 2013-08-28 09:07 am (UTC)(link)
I have nothing but the highest respect for combat sports. Where I am from, warriors gather from all nations to compete in the martial arts at a place called Warrior's Roost. There, the Mask of Justice, Hombre Noir, makes his home. He invites warriors to fight so that he might instil in powerful men a desire for peace.

[Hubert got Hombre Noir's autograph. it's the best thing.]
passively: (boredly (look away).)

[Ricardo finally looks like he might be interested, turning to face Richard.]

He invited people to fight to get them to desire peace?
oathwalk: (put friendship above all things)

[personal profile] oathwalk 2013-08-31 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. Warrior's Peak alone stands between the three nations and is neutral territory for us all. Those who come to fight there do so as equals, outside of nationality.
passively: (detachedly (look back).)

[personal profile] passively 2013-09-02 09:26 am (UTC)(link)
... Does it work?
oathwalk: (084)

[personal profile] oathwalk 2013-09-02 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I believe that it does. I know many who have been inspired merely by witnessing the battles there, and others tempered by the combat.

[Or Richard wants to think it works because he's a huge nerd. A or B.]
passively: (indifferently (read a book).)

[personal profile] passively 2013-09-04 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm.

[Does he look thoughtful? Maybe he's just filing it away in the back of his mind with no intentions of doing much about the information later. Who knows?]

Well, if something simple like that could keep people from fighting, that's quite a happy thing, isn't it? [He definitely doubts it works.] Are you royalty?
oathwalk: (to that class of men)

[personal profile] oathwalk 2013-09-05 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
[Well that came out of left field, but Richard only lifts his eyebrows.] I am, as it happens. I'm King Richard of Windor, heir of the late King Ferdinand IV.
passively: (dispassionately (wake up and glare).)

[personal profile] passively 2013-09-09 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ricardo frowns, eyebrows furrowing.]

... That's got nothing to do with Castille and Leon or Hungary, correct?
oathwalk: (041)

[personal profile] oathwalk 2013-09-12 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
I am afraid I have never heard of those—individuals? [What is a Hungary? We just don't know.] Windor is a kingdom on the planet Ephinea. Very few appear to be from our universe.
passively: (indifferently (read a book).)

[personal profile] passively 2013-09-15 07:27 am (UTC)(link)
They were a territory and nation ruled once by kings who were also named Ferdinand IV. It was a mild curiosity.

I'm afraid I've never heard of a planet named Ephinea, so we definitely come from different universes.
oathwalk: (083)

[personal profile] oathwalk 2013-09-15 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I see. I should perhaps be less surprised that the name is popular across universes when I find our language near-identical to what those from Earth call 'English.' [The multiverse is weird.] May I ask where you are from, Ricardo?
passively: (calmly (drink some tea).)

[personal profile] passively 2013-09-19 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
I'm from Earth. The United States in the city of Chicago, to be specific.

Have you ever heard of it?
oathwalk: (as both worthy of general study)

[personal profile] oathwalk 2013-09-20 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Of Earth, yes, and I seem to recall mention of the United States—that's America, isn't it? Though I would not know where to place it relative to France and England. [The problem of mostly relying on French boys for Earth history and geography.] And I am afraid I don't know Chicago.
passively: (quietly (get covered with petals).)

[personal profile] passively 2013-09-22 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
That it is. The United States of America.

France and England are significantly close to each other than to America. Would you like me to draw it out for you? If you've got something to write with.. I'm not much of an artist but I can give you something simple.
oathwalk: (039)

[personal profile] oathwalk 2013-10-02 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, yes, let's see . . . [Richard checks his boundless volumes of space in ruffles pockets, and after a moment pulls out some neatly folded paper which has . . . cooking instructions for natto banana dip?????? on one side. He offers it, and a pen, to Ricardo.] I hope this will serve.
passively: (indifferently (read a book).)

[personal profile] passively 2013-10-02 09:04 am (UTC)(link)
That's just fine. It'll be a minute--

[... Natto banana dip. Ricardo's eyes flicker over the recipe for a moment before he turns it over and finds the nearest hard surface, pressing the paper to it and starting to draw. He said simple, but it's pretty detailed for something drawn by a twelve hear old. All hail Sham.]
oathwalk: (as both worthy of general study)

[personal profile] oathwalk 2013-10-05 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
[Richard is beginning to wonder, between Damian and Ricardo, if Earth people educate their kids REALLY WELL.]

That map is more than helpful enough. I think I begin to see the shape of things. [Literally.]
passively: (boredly (look away).)

[personal profile] passively 2013-10-06 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[Richard clearly needs to meet more Earth people and talk about education with them.]

I'm glad to hear that. I was fortunate enough that my family was able to afford my education, so I'm glad it's being of some use.
