times they are a-changin' [open]
Characters: The Ironwood Emperor and anyone who cares to speak with her.
Location: The Palace of Landed Sky.
Situation: Holding an audience for any who care to speak with her
Warnings/Rating: Nothing yet, will edit if that needs changing.
The hall is still and white, strung with softly glowing lanterns that are strung up high beyond reach. Outside, the sun is at its zenith, and it filters down through the cloudy glass roof to create a brilliant, nearly blinding ambiance.
The floor is marble, inlaid with mother-of-pearl and ruby quartz. It catches the light, and casts strange patterns on the walls.
The room itself is almost eerily silent. No noise, no echoes. No one and nothing vaguely human, excepting the Emperor herself, who sits at the far end of the chamber unmoving on her throne. It's a long walk to her, and she's disinclined to make the journey less tedious to those that come calling on her presence.
Still. The 'audience' is an open one, and no one will be turned away. So come one, come all, to the Palace of Landed Sky.
[Actionspam or prose are both acceptable! Meander gainfully in my direction, fraternal-types. Also, characters will only be admitted into the hall one by one, so there won't be anyone present for anyone else's conversations, and there won't be any 'mingling' in the chamber itself.
By popular demand, we are going to allow mingling of those waiting for an audience in an antechamber. There is a thread header below to allow for that!]

The fact that he didn't know completely was currently driving him up the bend though, and maybe a locating spell had been tainted with anger in his bedroom and had caused magic to arch out and smash a chair.
That anger had built up even more and when he heard that he could go see the Emperor, you bet he jumped at the chance, not giving his friends a reason for his sudden departure.
He wore jeans, torn at the knees and a plain t-shirt as he entered the chamber. Okay, the place looked really nice, but that wasn't why he was hear. And maybe he would remember his manners if he wasn't just all over the place.]
I can't find someone here no matter how hard I, or anyone else, tries and I want to know what that means. Is he still here somewhere and I just can't locate him, or has he gone home?

What is his name?

[This was a horrible moment as he blurted out the name and his hands balled into fists at the suspense.]
no subject
Ah.]
Come with me.
[She rises from her throne and sweeps from the room, trusting him to follow after her.]
The name isn't familiar, but I can tell you no one by that name has been booked into prison by my Commander. However, there is a place called the Echo Room where you might find the answer you seek.

He frowned as he followed her and, what did she mean by that? Teddy wouldn't have done anything to warrant getting arrested, but he had to admit, he was curious about the Echo Room.]
So...what do I have to do?

Inside, the room continues this trend of stylistic dissonance. The walls are done in yellow lacquer, and there is no visible ceiling, though mist swirls up near the top.]
When people leave this place - in a manner in which I am not an active participant - an echo remains. A footprint, if you will. Everyone leaves their mark on this world, one way or another. If he's gone, you will hear him.
Ugh let me know if this is wrong in any way.
He looks up and squints as if trying to see the ceiling and then he quickly looks back to the Emperor.]
And that footprint...it stays?
[Billy swallows thickly, his palms are starting to get clammy and he's anxious. Part of him just doesn't want Teddy to be away for selfish reasons.
Despite the fact they didn't talk, Billy couldn't say he felt an odd silence, there wasn't really a silence to begin with and he was picking u and small noises, like distant voices. His brow furrowed and he tried to listen in to them, wondering where they came from and if these were the echoes.t]
'...Enough is enough. I've tried to be patient and supportive...But you need to talk to me-- or to Wanda-- or to someone-- right now. No, I take that back. You need to talk to me'
[Billy felt the pang in his chest, his jaw clenched and his eyes started to burn when he heard Teddy's voice. That conversation had happened before he came here, maybe an hour before he came here. And yeah, he was upset to know Teddy was actually gone, but there was relief to know he wasn't somewhere unreachable.
Teddy's words reminded him that he really couldn't slip back into the state he had been in before. That had been enough, so he would pick himself up.
Billy took a deep breath and straightened after he rubbed at his eyes and swallowed again. He nodded and looked to the Emperor.]
Thank you.

I'm sorry to have been the bearer of bad news.

[She heads back for the door. This isn't a healthy room to remain in for long periods of time.]
Come.

[The walk back to the audience chamber does seem a little shorter than the one to the Echo Room. Curious.]
no subject
Sorry, I'm Billy.
[Did they take a shortcut or something? This place is confusing, pretty. But confusing.]

[She stops before her throne, and reaches out to rest one hand against its arm rest.]
Is there anything else you wish to know?
no subject
[He pauses and then shakes his head slowly.]
No, I just wanted to know what happened to Teddy.
no subject
[She reclaims her place on the throne.]

[Billy nods his head and then after that, does a really short bow because, he doesn't know the customs here and he walks backwards a feet before he turns and leaves.]
