( click for full size )

The Tavimbians continue to be welcoming to their guests, and while Foreigners are still required to carry their issued pass stamps while in Hatal, they are starting to become recognized. The stamps are made of a brassy metal, a little larger than a credit card, and inscribed with their information, their date of arrival, and whether they've had any run-ins with the laws in Tavimbi (it will be stamped accordingly by the authorities if such happens.)

OOC: There are starters in the comments for various areas of Hatal, or you can use the rest of the post for anything on Tavimbi which doesn't fit under those headings. All city descriptions, as well as NPC contacts for threading, can be found in the Tavimbi OOC post, which is currently stickied in the OOC comm.

Be sure to also check the March Itinerary for up to date happenings in Hatal, and to tag this entry with your character tag when you join in.

When the call came from Obi-Wan to the Force users for help, Kylo almost disregarded it, but he was smart enough to know that it wouldn't help him in the long run to not help out when he could, so he had shown up in the Lorn level, hood covering his face so as to not really garner much attention to himself as he used the Force to move the rubble out of the way so it could be disposed of properly.

He was also trying his best to avoid Obi-Wan while he was helping clear rubble out. Kylo had learned from their first conversation that he didn't want much to do with the man and was going out of his way to not be around him unless he actually had to, but avoidance only lasted so long when he was actually not in an area the size of a gigantic turtle and when the opportunity presented itself, Kylo brushed past him when he was sure he wasn't in the middle of moving rubble around.

It was kind of hard to miss the storm cloud that was Kylo Ren, even when Obi-Wan was putting a great deal of his concentration on moving the boulders. He knew that the man was there before he even came in his direction. Thus as he passed by, Obi-Wan actually spoke to him while moving one such boulder.

"Thank you for your help Kylo, it's most appreciated."

Even though they had started things off a bit rocky, Obi-Wan was going to be civil unless he was given a reason to do otherwise.

He doesn't answer at first, his concentration all on moving the boulder. It wasn't difficult for him, not normally, but he's been through a lot lately and it's shaken him up quite a bit, so he has to focus more than he would usually to move something as simple as a boulder. Once he finishes moving it, he finally turns his attention back to the Jedi Master and acknowledges him.

"Isn't that what you Jedi say we're supposed to do, use the Force to help others? I'm only doing what is wanted of me."

Not to mention that Kylo had reasons for being here, even if he wasn't the type of person to run in to help others.

Deciding to take this opportunity for a break, Obi-Wan studies Kylo Ren for a moment.

"If you were a Jedi, you would know that we have a desire to help others, not because it's something we simply must do or require of anyone else. The spirit of a Jedi is put others before one's self. My call was a request, nothing more. I would not presume to make it mandatory simply because you are able to use the Force."

If you don't want to be here Kylo, Obi-Wan isn't going to sit on you and make you stay. Or drag you back if you try to leave. He was only expressing his gratitude.

There was a slight shake of his head as he continued to work. Some of Obi-Wan's words were familiar to him, painfully so, and Kylo couldn't help but think that Luke must have gotten advice from Obi-Wan at some point in his life. Or this was just thing Jedi do, which was a possibility as well.

"I'm not a Jedi and haven't been for a long time, but you sound like my former Master. Or, which is likely the case, he sounds like you," he said without any strain in his voice as he moved more rubble and rocks away to be loaded off. "I have my own reasons for being here and they might not be as selfless and honorable as what the Jedi Code demands of you, but it doesn't matter as long as I'm helping out."

Oh he knew that Kylo Ren wasn't a Jedi. It was plain as day to him. Though it is news to him that he used to be one. He can only imagine what happened or coerced this man to turn his back those ways.

"I see, well you have my gratitude regardless." Nope he wasn't arguing about the help at all. Whatever Kylo's motives may be.

"If I may ask, who was your Master?"
littlelightofmine: (in this farewell)

On the plus side, Kylo didn't admit he was a Sith, which he wasn't despite the fact that he focused more on the Dark Side instead of the Light. After all, Snoke chose Kylo for the balance of Light and Dark inside him and being either a Jedi or a Sith was counterproductive to that.

"You're always welcome to call upon me in the future, if you need any assistance from me," Kylo said easily enough. He'll help if he has to. It wouldn't do him any good to alienate everyone around him when he had no allies to back him up.

Moving a decent sized rock to where Kylo stood, he pushed his hood back and sat down on the stone, looking far too long and gangly to fit on it properly despite the fact that he picked one about the size of a chair. "My Master was Luke Skywalker."

"I'll keep that in mind."

Yes, the fact that he's not a Sith is definitely a plus. Obi-Wan got an odd feeling about this man, he really wasn't sure what to make of him. But as long as things were not hostile or threatening, he could tolerate his presence and be civil.

Though when he answers that last question, Obi-Wan looks at him with clear shock on his face.

"Luke Skywalker?" he repeats in disbelief.

If the situation called for it, then Kylo could be civil. It wasn't as if he was dealing with someone like Hux. Obi-Wan he could deal with long enough to have a conversation and on the plus side, Kylo didn't work with him on a daily basis, so he could just leave and avoid him for as long as he wanted to.

"Yes, Luke Skywalker. He grows up to become a Jedi Master." There's a pause as he goes over Obi-Wan's reaction. This timeline stuff really was going to get confusing if he thought on it too much. "Have the twins been born yet as far as you're concerned? I'm afraid I don't really know much about that time period."

[personal profile] hadthehighground 2016-03-06 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Obi-Wan says little of it since it's already been established that his Master, Luke Skywalker, was his former master. Something had obviously happened between them, probably not unlike what occurred between him and Anakin. But there is a little proud smile on Obi-Wan's face as he goes back to moving boulders.

"Yes. I had just arrived with Luke on Tatooine before coming here," he replied.

[personal profile] littlelightofmine 2016-03-06 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
If only Obi-Wan knew just how much of a parallel the two generations were. Kylo wasn't about to make any comparisons, not with his recent failures still looming over his head like a dark cloud. Giving only the slightest shake of his head in annoyance at the little proud smile the other man on his face, Kylo turned his head away to look at the area surrounding them instead.

"He would speak highly of you, old Ben who set him on the path to be a Jedi." For all of his thoughts on his uncle and his training as a whole, Kylo wasn't going to turn this toward the negative. There was no reason to, not right now. "I didn't lie before, when I spoke to you previously. He did return to the Light."
hadthehighground: (what's that?)

[personal profile] hadthehighground 2016-03-07 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Ben?" This draws a curious and surprised look at the name. That was not a name he typically went by, though he had used it as a codename in times past. And as he thought about it, it would make sense for a fugitive Jedi in hiding as he had become.

The confession though drew a pause. Obi-Wan certainly did not sense any dishonesty or deception from Kylo Ren. So he could only assume he was indeed telling the truth.

"Why are you telling me this?"

Even though it brought him some comfort, he still didn't understand why Kylo Ren would need to share it with him.

[personal profile] littlelightofmine 2016-03-07 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
"That's what you called yourself when you lived on Tatooine." There was a slight shrug at that, like it wasn't really all that important. That was all before his time and his interests in the past lay elsewhere.

"I'm telling you because the Anakin Skywalker that's here has yet to become Darth Vader," he started, thinking about how odd it was to make such a distinction like that with a man he'd only thought of without that split. "If you see him as to who he will become, it would be prudent to have the whole picture, wouldn't it?"
hadthehighground: (Excuse me?)

[personal profile] hadthehighground 2016-03-09 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes, you're right, and I am grateful."

There is a pause though as a thought hits Obi-Wan, one that's very important.

"And what do you intend to tell Anakin?"
littlelightofmine: (I can drop it)

[personal profile] littlelightofmine 2016-03-11 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
That was the question of the day, what would Kylo tell Anakin? Well, the answer was whatever Anakin asked of him because he wasn't going to say no to his grandfather and the man he idolized. Not that he was going to share that with Obi-Wan, oh no. Obi-Wan had already proven himself to be someone that Kylo needed to keep at arm's length, primarily due to his status as a Jedi.

"What do you think I would tell him? That his wife dies, he has two children who he believes are dead until they're adults and even then are his enemies?" He shakes his head and looks over at the Jedi. It's obvious that the man wants to protect Anakin, but at what cost? "I'll leave those for you to tell him if you so wish, Master Kenobi. I've already said that I wasn't going to influence him into going on way or the other."
hadthehighground: (of course)

Obi-Wan is silent as he listens, but nods his head slowly when Kylo is finished.

"I do appreciate that."

And really, he did. This was a pretty delicate situation, but it also meant that he needed to act. Before someone else did, either intentionally or not.
