Ororo Munroe & you? | OPEN!
Characters: Ororo and ANYONE!
Location: Keeliai and the outlying areas
Situation:
Warnings/Rating:
[Ororo's been keeping mostly to the Wood and Water Sectors on the grounds that they have relatively low criminal activity, even with the surge after the festival. On any given day, like today, she can be seen wandering them and keeping to well-lit areas.
Maybe she's dipping her toes in the cleanest canal waters that she can find, or maybe she's buying a snack at a vendor in Water. Heck, she could be doing a bit of tree-climbing in Wood, it all depends on who or what she might run into.
Then there's the practice.
She's been pulling in fog banks to disguise taking flight, then heading outside the city walls in order to work on her weather control a little more. Being kidnapped reminded her that she's not the best at... well, anything. So it's in the essence of self-defence that she's spending almost four hours a day either observing the weather or trying to influence it -- and she's trying to keep it localised to where she is. She tends to get caught up doing that or trying to perfect her flying, and so can be easily approached here.
More than anything, Ororo can be found just about anywhere (safe), so feel free to join her, observe her, or interupt her!]

BRANDON
That's probably why she contacted Brandon through the consoles and asked him if she could swap out that dinner offer for a coffee. A nice, simple afternoon date might be just what the doctor ordered and, with that hope in mind, she's in the Water Sector early and sitting in the back corner of the cafe, clutching a cup of coffee in her hand as she watches the slow churn of fog out the window. It's extremely localised and part of her knows that it's silly that she's even trying to conceal herself, but she can't bring herself to dispel it fully until she's got someone else that she can trust there -- and, really, he seems like the best bet.]

[He's grinning as he drops into the seat opposite her. He's dressed casually, foregoing his usual black-and-white uniform for something a little more street-casual, black silk pants and a casual white shirt with long sleeves. There isn't a doubt in his mind as to the source of the fog. Is it a mood thing at this age?
Oh god, maybe she's PMSing.
It's probably too late to back out, though, so he just ducks his head, smile turning a little half-hearted.]
Hi.
no subject
Sorry about that. All this anti-foreigner stuff hits too close to home for comfort and I'm a little-- [Paranoid? Ahahahaha. She has good reason.] --nervous.
How's it going?
no subject
[He sounds sympathetic, in a sort of distant way. Brandon has never lived with the same first-hand bias. He's not a mutant. He's ostracised for entirely different reasons, and he has all the empathy of a teaspoon. Sort of.]
It's going fine, I guess. You know. Bored out of my mind. I'd kill somebody for some Call of Duty.
no subject
You and Bobby Drake'd get along fine.
[Ororo leans forward, resting her forearms on the table -- the fact he sat across from her's a but cooler of an opening than she'd hoped, but she takes it as respecting boundaries and all that. She can work with it.]
But, yeah. [Her nerves swing her back to the topic and a little thing that's been on her mind since they first spoke.] No one's been bothering you for being different here?
no subject
[BE STILL HIS GEEKY HEART
not that he has one of those
god no
perish the thought.]
Not really. I mean. It's not like the kedan have any room to talk. Hello shapeshifting. Have you been to the brothels yet? Tentacles. Everywhere. If they wanna throw shade at us because we can do a little voodoo...
[he will zap them into next month.]
no subject
No. Visiting the brothels hasn't been high on the priorities list. [Up goes an eyebrow at the idea that he has.]
I don't think it's what we can do that bothers them. It's that we're not, y'know, kedan.
[She shifts her arms, lifting a hand to scratch at the opposite shoulder absently.]
I don't get it. I can handle people picking on me because I can drop a blizzard on them, but this? [A huff of breath.] They didn't even bother to see if I could do anything, just picked on me out of the blue because I'm a "Foreigner."
no subject
Yeah, and? People get kidnapped all the time. At least we can defend ourselves, we're not just helpless kids.
no subject
While the kids are still in them.
no subject
Well, maybe I can help with that. My control's off the charts. I could show you a few tricks.
[For once, he doesn't sound like he's being boastful. The days before he had a good handle on his powers were some of the scariest in his life, and honestly, he wouldn't wish that on anyone. Even if he is an asshole.]
no subject
I guess we're the only people around that can play catch with ball lightning, huh?
[A soft, uncertain laugh.]
Maybe we should stick together until this whole thing blows over. Y'know, move in herds.
no subject
You know, I have no idea if it'd even be compatible. Here, see if you can shock me.
[He holds a hand across the table, totally unconcerned. Brandon is not a fan of pain in the slightest, but he's more or less electricity-proof. All it does is make him jumpy as he metabolises it.]
no subject
You sure about that? Giving you a perm isn't high on my list of to-do.
no subject
Energy input doesn't usually bug me much. I just metabolize it. Like drinking a cup of coffee or something. I get a little jittery but it can't really hurt me. I mean, don't fry me. You're an Omega, that's probably a little out of my ballpark, but I've handled a few hundred thousand volts no problem.
no subject
[All the same, she reaches out with her hand and holds it above his, envisioning just a small bolt of lighting. She's never really tried to be this precise and that results in a good jolt instead of the sparks she meant to send flying -- but, hey! The place doesn't exactly erupt with lightning and thunder.]
no subject
Yeah. Super powerful. You're pretty special where I'm from. I mean. -- It's probably the same for you, but you just don't have the experience yet, you know?
[He flexes his hand and reclaims after another moment.]
We'll work on the delicate stuff later.
no subject
Maybe. That's a long way away though, and probably a ton of textbooks too. [Since most of her learning's been through reading about atmospheric phenomenon.]
Sorry for the overkill. I still get a little nervous about lightning.
no subject
Yeah, well. That's how you get good at things.
And hey, it's fine. I just won't need as much sleep tonight.
no subject
How does that work anyways? Are you like a cell phone battery or something?
no subject
What, like, plugged into a wall?
[He laughs.]
Naw. Not really. I'm kind of always charged up.
[... bit of a leer.]
no subject
She smiles and sizes him up for the remark, raising an eyebrow.]
The question of the hour being: Do you keep going and going?
no subject
You always ask that on a first date?
[STORM IS HITTING ON HIM. STORM IS HITTING ON HIM.
that would be so hot if he were into women.]
no subject
Only when the right sparks are flying.
[She says with a hint of lighting trickling in the air.]
