[The overall strength and stability he says that with leaves her speechless once again. It... really does mean a lot to her that he can say that. But the realistic side of her, the logical one, is screaming that he can only say that because...] You don't know what I've done.

[His words hit deep for her, and make her feel something she hasn't felt in a long time. Acceptance.]

[He's tempted to sigh, deeply. He almost knows what she's thinking: that he's naive, young, and that he hasn't seen anything of the world, to have said what he just did. The truth is - well. Nobody sees that truth at first glance, it takes the revelation of seeing him angry to do that. He's had one too many exteriors of friendly camaraderie go because people feel betrayed by how vicious he can be.]

No. And I don't care to. It doesn't belong to me.

[But I'd still help you carry it.]

[Half of her wants to hug him, the other half to yell he doesn't know what he's talking about. Why can't she just accept this, and not make such a big deal out of it? How can it be so hard to just let people in?] I betrayed Earth and her people, doomed my own, and you're still willing to help carry the burden of someone you met only a month ago, not to mention call me family?

[He's either got a heart of gold, or just plain stupid.]

[Flatly:] My best friend here likes to stab people. And I don't mean occasionally in fits of temper, I mean stab them so they die.

[Lethal force comes naturally to him. He sighs, and runs a hand through his hair, green standing out against the black.]

What's your point? That you don't deserve it? Well I've news for you - you do.

[Like hell he's going to let her sit around and feel sorry for herself :|]

[His overall stubbornness has her searching for words all over again, and all she can do is shake her head as though she can't even believe what she's hearing.] You're really not going to quit, are you?

[Which is, quite frankly, a first for her. Sure, people say they'll be there for her, but never has anyone said it with the emphasis Kyle has.]

[In answer he holds up his hand again, so she can see the ring.]

You're really forgetting what this runs on, aren't you? Being a stubborn jerk is practically in my job description.

[This is probably one of the few fights Shayera can't win, not when going up against a Green Lantern like Kyle. She hangs her head, a smile barely visible on it now that her face it out of sight a bit.] You win this round. But I'm not admitting to anything.

[A victory he counts, nonetheless, because it's a step forward to the day she does admit it.]

Okay, enough doom and gloom. We have delicious food in front of us, we should be eating.

[She gives him a flick in the face for that comment before going back to her meal. The weight of his words are still with her, and probably will be for some time.]
