[Miles had been happy to be without his powers at first, but as time went on he found himself missing the feeling of swinging through the city on a web, helping people and stopping crimes. So when the powers come back on, he dons the suit and heads out.]

Oh. That's cool, I guess. You don't look like an alien.

In my experience I look exactly like an alien. Earth is the only other planet I've been to.

Krypton. And no, it isn't. [ Her voice is a touch flatter than she means it to be - she can't talk about home without remembering that it's gone. ]

Yeah, 'cause you don't look like the locals. Now they look alien.

[notdreaming]

[ She looks a little dubious. ] They're not really that different, on the grander biological scale. They could be reptilian, or birds. They look mostly human.

[spiderkid]

Yeah, I suppose so. That makes sense. I mean, there are mutants who look less human than they do.

[notdreaming]

[ She hums her agreement as she nods.

She finds nothing unusual about chatting with a boy in latex in the middle of the night. ]

Like Santo. And that's just a relatively minor genetic mutation. It's really fascinating that most sentient species have the same basic structure.

I don't know Santo, but there's a blue furry guy named Kurt and a lizard guy named Victor around here.

You some kind of science nerd?

[ Nerd. That's a bad thing, isn't it? ]

No, not really. I come from a family of scientists.

[Not necessarily. Not to Miles.]

[ Well now she's a little embarrassed. ]

I'm sorry, I don't really know the word.

The word "nerd?" It basically means someone who's really smart and obsessed with like science and stuff.

I'm not obsessed.

'Kay maybe not obsessed obsessed, but like... really into it.

[notdreaming]

Well I guess if that's what you want to call it, then yes, I'm a nerd.

Cool. Nerds are cool. Some of my best friends are nerds.

[notdreaming]

They are? [ She sighs in relief. At least it's not an insult to him, even if she's not planning on sharing it with the world. ]

Yeah. So, what're you doing out here on a night like this?

[notdreaming]

Oh, I live nearby, and I don't actually need to sleep. [ She waves off the question as though it's the least of anyone's worries. ]

You don't sleep? Is that an alien thing, or...?

[notdreaming]

An alien thing, sort of. Something to do with the sun and radiation. [ She doesn't know the specifics, which is... still something that bothers her, actually. ]

Huh. [He shrugs.] I can get that.
