Closed to Raaawry
Characters: The Doctor (11) and Rory
Date: Back dated to Eleven's arrival
Location: Earth sector
Situation: Reunions and adventures
Warnings/Rating: Lots of dorkiness abound but that's about all.
He never would of assumed that arriving here would of been so full of people from his life, so much to see and do, so little time for everyone. Now some people automatically shot to the top of his list, old companions and the like, but the one that grabbed his attention first was Rory. Good old Rory Pond. An old and lost friend. Someone he'd been so sure he'd been missing for too long.
He had been selfish, really, whenever it came to Rory. Always picking Amy over him, always forcing him to make the worst decisions. Or her, even. how could he ask her to leave him? Losing them had really brought to home how much he owed both of them for all they had put up with. And all he'd put on them. Seeing Rory again meant a lot to him, he didn't feel so alone any more. And that's why he followed the given address without any distractions.
Okay, one or two distractions. Maybe three if you count staring at a shiny thing that caught his attention.
Regardless, he was there in record timing, knocking the door in excitement and bouncing back awkwardly to give Rory some space. He had no idea who it would all play out, especially with Amy missing. It might not be the happy reunion he pictured.

what is a raaaawry B| THERE IS NO LOVE
Well, not to say that Rory wasn't preparing himself for it - he had expected it, when he first saw the Doctor's name on the contact list. But then Oswi--no, Clara had told him that it wasn't the same Doctor he knew and Rory had just left it at that. Now, though...
Amy wasn't around, Rory was pretty certain of it. She had always been the better influence for the Doctor compared to him, and without her... he really wasn't sure how he was going to handle this. Things were obviously going to be delicate between them considering their abrupt departure from the Doctor's life, courtesy of the Weeping Angels. It had only been a while since then for him, but it would be a lie if Rory said he didn't feel the hole leaving the Doctor had left in his life. Still, at least Amy was with him, at the very end.
Now, though...
Rory stopped and pulled out from his thoughts before he could go further, not wanting to head down that dark train of thought - and also because there was a knock on the door that could only come from one person. Rory got up from his seat and made his way over to the door, opening it to see the person he had been expecting to see.
"..." He didn't so sure what to say, or if he even should say anything right now; considering circumstances, it still was somewhat surreal to him.
You are a Raaaawry. ALL THE LOVE >( ALL OF IT.
It didn't really matter much to him, however, if Rory even wanted the hug. He was getting one. Twice the strength so maybe somewhere out there, Amy could feel it. Insane notion but one he would like to believe in.
Pulling back, he did the typical manly slap to the shoulder, much like Craig always did afterwards. Reaffirm it wasn't a 'girly' act. Strange custom but he did it anyway.
"Rory Pond, in the flesh! Look at you, with your -- and the -- all over," he gestured to both the slightly long nose Rory had and his typical Rory-esque hair in a obviously vague manner. Because he didn't really know what to say either. So he babbled. Babbling always filled the silence.
Sliding passed Rory, he entered his home and looked around with a small frown. "So this is your new place?... I don't like it. Have you considered redecorating yet? I liked the old one better."
I am not a Raaaaawry. X( /REJECTS YOUR FALSE LOVE
Even with that said though, hugging the Doctor back was always an awkward affair, mainly because the Doctor tended to overdo his hugs. Rory had to flail for a moment because he couldn't really breathe from the crushing force of the hug, but at least the Doctor pulled back after a while and clapped him on the shoulder, starting to babble almost instantly. He was nervous, Rory could tell - and who could blame him? Rory was kind of nervous himself.
He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but the Doctor was already moving on, slipping into the house and (predictably) remarking on the place. Rory could already find himself starting to stifle a sigh as he closed the door behind him, stepping after the Doctor.
"I just arrived here recently myself; still pretty much in the 'settling down' phase," he informed the Time Lord with a look of exasperation.
/REJECTS YOUR REJECTION OF LOVE
"Settling down? I suppose you would be. How long has it been? Weeks, months? Not years. Unless it takes you a very long time to settle."
He looked about the rather sparse place with a small frown. It wasn't right, he was used to their old place and it felt more homely. Amy had added her decorating touch to Rory's more sensible style and they'd made something very uniquely them. Every time he visited, he couldn't help but marvel at how well they both worked together.
Seeing this place as it was now just left him weirdly uneasy. Not unhappy, just not right. Rory had to of felt it too so it wasn't worth pestering on.
"Been out much yet? I really need to start going about and soon. I hear you can reach you turtles head pretty easily but he's not very chatty. Up for trying to bond with a billion year old turtle? May as well say hello if you're going to live on him, otherwise it's just rude."
/REJECTS YOUR REJECTION OF MY REJECTION OF YOUR FALSE LOVE
Right. Back to the matter at hand: the Doctor. Rory still wasn't sure what to make of all of this, really. Seeing the Doctor again was... well, it was good, yes, but considering everything--he really didn't know what he should say, or do. They couldn't avoid the issue forever, but then talking about it was kind of hard too...
Rory exhaled loudly when the Doctor's voice interrupted his thoughts once more, and he turned his attention to the Time Lord. Bonding with a giant turtle... yep, just the thing the Doctor would do.
"I guess," he said after a pause. It wouldn't hurt, he supposed, and he would be lying if he said he wasn't curious - as well as worried. Living on a giant living creature? Not his cup of tea, that was for sure.
.... /LICKS FACE >(
They broke his hearts every time. And it was getting harder and harder to face that. Even seeing Rory made his gut churn and his heart ache in a strange manner.
"We'll go soon, when I've made sure it's absolutely one-hundred percent safe. Don't want to get there and accidentally fall off a giant turtle. That wouldn't be ideal," the Doctor pointed out, looking at Rory with a faint smile on his face. He couldn't risk losing Rory again. And perhaps that was slightly neurotic of him.
Who would really blame him after everything?
/EW GROSS, GET YOUR GERMS AWAY FROM ME
Although Amy would take this better than he had. Rory couldn't quite decide that her not being here was a good thing or a bad thing.
"Well, take your time," he replied. "Neither of us are really going anywhere any time soon, besides."
NOPE, ALL THE GERMY GERMS
Though he didn't know how he could get out of here. He wanted an escape plan but he didn't have one. Oh yes, he desperately needed one but here he was instead, wanting to see all his friends and have a little fun. Didn't he earn that? After everything, he really thought he did.
"I've lost the TARDIS. I suppose you already heard but we should find it. That's out best chance and only way to get out."
UGH NO GO AWAY D:
Instead he bit down a sigh and made a mild face, nodding after a moment. "I suppose that's the only thing we can do right now." Without the TARDIS they didn't have a way to get out of this strange turtle place, but honestly Rory wasn't going to kick too much of a fuss. The people seemed okay so far, and the danger seemed to be minimal, so he wasn't going to complain. Especially considering the fact that he could see the Doctor again. If Amy wasn't around, at least he could tell her about this when he finally managed to get back.
EMBRACE THEEEM
Leaping to his feet, he did a peculiar little spin before gesturing for Rory to follow. Nothing would get done if they simply sat around all day nattering on. "Come along, Rory. Lots to see, plenty to do. Maybe we'll even get lucky and find a box."
NEVERRRR
...then again, that meant having to go through the TARDIS, and--okay maybe he might be thinking too much into this. Maybe.
Rory put those thoughts away as he watched the Doctor do his all too familiar spin, and wasn't that a sight for sore eyes. It was strange really, how all these little things seemed so precious now, but Rory supposed that was one of the fallacies of many people - you never could appreciate something until you lost it.
"I wouldn't get my hopes up," he cautioned, standing up and once more wondering if somehow Amy had ended up here. It would be nice if she was, really. "But no harm trying, right?"
Spoil sport XP
He was under the impression that he was fully capable of functioning with just Rory. He was practical, clever and knew when to stop him. Sort of the perfect sidekick really. That was why he liked him so much, he trusted himself to be under proper watch with his 'nurse' keeping close by.
Make sure he didn't do anything too stupid.
"Tell me, Rory, how much have you seen? Anything yet? You came here before me so you've had a bit more time to get to know the area. Or even just the distract. Anything worthy of note?"
that is me forever
At the Doctor's question Rory blinked, taking a moment to digest it before he answered. "Um. Not much, really. Like I told you, I've only been here for a few days." And he was still trying to get used to the whole turtle thing. It was quite the change after... well, everything.
It really is
Oh and usually try not to die.
"I've already seen two parks, three old friends and had a coffee. It was revolting, I didn't like it," The coffee, he means, not everything on that list. He only had a mouthful and promptly spat it back into the cup in horror. Coffee was a little-- eh, weird.
and who is the one who started it...
Not that it really helped, considering everything he had been through.
Rory blinked once again at the answer, confused by it for a moment before it clicked properly and he slowly nodded in response. "...right," he started, easily managing to link the 'three old friends' to names he knew through the network. "Rose Tyler, Jark Harkness and... Clara, right?"
.... >.> youuuuu? Sort of.
Fortunately, he didn't have much to worry about. He had a cunning plan to do some catch up and hopefully win her over. Despite his lack of knowledge of their time together.
"Do you think it's really an issue if you're friends with someone who doesn't remember you ever existing? I personally think it's doable."
lies and slander
"I don't think so," he replied. "It's not like she doesn't exist entirely - its just that you haven't met her, that's all."
