Grand Opening!

Situation: It's time for a grand opening!

After weeks of scrimping and saving, planning, organizing, working every day to get everything just so, Bryn's tavern is finally ready to open. There were times she wasn't sure it was ever going to happen, because what did she know about running a business, having only been a customer all of her adult life? There was still a chance that this would spectacularly flop and she would be broke and back to square one again. But tonight isn't the night to worry about that. One thing Bryn does know how to do is throw a party.

So, the two story has been scrubbed and polished within an inch of its life. The lanterns inside and out are burning with fresh candles. The bar is fully stocked, the kitchen has been bustling all day with food preparations, and for tonight, the stage is occupied by some of Keeliai's finest and liveliest kedan musicians. At one corner corner of the first floor, a table with ten jars can be found. Before each jar is a suggested name for the new tavern, and baskets of smoothly polished pebbles to be used to cast votes. Each attendee is welcome to vote for the name of their choosing, and Bryn will call her tavern by whichever one is the most popular.

All that's missing are her guests, whom she hopes to keep as customers over the coming weeks, months, or however long Bryn's stay in the city is.

Scott laughs at his joke, but he looks less than impressed by Isaac's question. If Scott knows the definition of ephemeral, he definitely knows what brazen means, but Isaac is probably just teasing him. "Yeah, it means shameless, which is what you are for asking me that. Jerk." Scott elbows him playfully.

"Bitch," he shoots back, giving him a look - but it's accompanied by a smile. "Hey, I uh, I never thanked you for letting me stay with you and your mom."

Scott tilts his head at Isaac curiously. It's pretty random of Isaac to thank him for that now.

"It's okay... I like having you around the house." And like he told Isaac when they first got here, he feels like Isaac belongs there. It feels right to have Isaac close to him. "You're good for reaching stuff on high shelves."

You're pretty random. But, it's his thought process. He feels close to him and he realizes it in this moment, that's how he lets him know.

"And tossing you out second story windows," he says, blithely. "I liked being around the house." He really had. "I like to think I'm pretty brazen. What do you think?"

You wouldn't dare toss him anywhere but into your bed, Isaac Lahey.

"I think..." If he could sum Isaac up in one word, it wouldn't be brazen. "I think you're a lion-heart."

Maybe into the ocean. Or, his own bed. Or, the couch! There are several places he'd toss Scott. Also, lake and bouncy house.

"A -- so, what? What's a lion-heart?"

Scott's almost tempted to be cheeky and tell Isaac to look up the word in the dictionary, but maybe he wants to watch Isaac's face when he says this. Between Isaac's father and Derek, it's probably been a while since Isaac has heard anyone say something nice about him.

"It's a person who's really brave and courageous," he replies softly. "You can be brazen, but it's not the first word that comes to mind when I think of you. Lion-heart is."

"You think I'm brave." It's not a question because Scott's said as much. He's touched to his core. Something deeper pangs but he's not equipped to deal with it. A desire he's not ready to recognize or act on. He doesn't even know what it means. Instinctively, he hardens, his smile turning wry. "I think you're brave, too. Not as cool as me. And you could dress better. But, -- yeah. You're courageous."

"I know you're brave. You went in that ice cold bath." Isaac has proved his bravery on many other occasions, but the ice bath sticks out the most, Isaac thrashing in the water and reaching out to grab Scott's arm.

Some of what Isaac says has Scott lifting an eyebrow at him. You know which parts. "You want me to start dressing in cardigans and scarves, is that it?" Then he'll look as cool as Isaac Lahey? Puh-lease.

"I had to. It was our only way of finding Erica." Of finding out what happened to him. He had reached for Scott. Scott - without him knowing at this second - is slowly becoming his anchor.

"You have form-fitting down. Now you need stylish."
