Characters: Dick Grayson (
hackingyoursensors ) & Wally West (
sciencewhizard )
Location: Dick's Suite, WO-3A
Situation: The day after Dick's arrival, Wally's going over for a friendly reunion and what pretty much amounts to housewarming.
Warnings/Rating: No warnings.
[ Boy, was Wally eager for this reunion - he had been on this turtle for a long time (okay, only a few weeks, but that's ages for a speedster), without his best bro around. So when he finally has the chance to hang out with Dick again, he was bouncing. It had been a day since their first conversation, and the speedster was planning on making this a little bash. He'd been saving some money from work to start building up his own chemistry lab in his suite; seeing this was a special occasion, though, he decided to use some of it to splurge on food.
Wally had bought the Kedan equivalents of junk food like chips and cookies, but he also brought some stuff they could cook. He had it all stowed away in a cloth bag he had slung over his shoulder as he sped from his suite, through the Wood Sector to Dick's suite. Not too long of a trip. Annnnd he knocked on the door to the suite. ]

When he hears the knock, he smiles. He'd know a speedster's footsteps anywhere.]
[Dick opens the door.]
Hey, man. Welcome to my humble abode.
no subject
Looks great, dude.
[ Of course, he was remarking from just a cursory glance after popping his head through the door. He held up the bag of food once he let go of the acrobat. ]
Like I promised, grub!
no subject
[Amused:] I haven't done anything to it yet.
Awesome. What kind?
no subject
Niiiii- Oh, right.
[ He held the bag out and open: inside there'd be things mostly in paper wrappers and smaller bags. Some of them looked recognizably like pastries, but other things were, of course, unique Kedan varieties of vegetables and fruits. ]
Takes a little getting used to, but I think everything here's edible.
no subject
[He's yanking your chain, KF. He's fully aware that most of the food here is fine.]
I'm pretty sure that's not the only thing I need to get used to.
no subject
[ Seriously, he pulled out an odd fruit from the bag that smelled like a peach, but was a bright green and had these tendril things sprouting all around it. ]
Apparently, you have to cut all these things off like with a puffer fish.
no subject
I hope that's the only way it's like a puffer fish.
no subject
I had one of these juiced while I was in the market - it's pretty sweet, and I'm still kicking about, haha.
no subject
no subject
[ Did Dick really just offer him that? Wally was going to assume yes and perk right up. ]
Definitely. Guinea pig. That's me. Got your back, dude.
no subject
What would I do without you?
no subject
Clearly, you'd be hopeless. But let's move on from how amazing I am.~ How go things with the neighbors? [ Assuming he had any. ]
no subject
Nonexistent. I'm all by myself here.
no subject
Luuuuucky. I haven't met my neighbors yet.
[ Pretty sad for a month here already, but that also brought him to another issue... He glanced off to the side, just a tad. Heavy stuff was coming. ]
So- I said I'd tell you about stuff that's happened back home... But are you sure you wanna know?
[ It was Dick's future, after all. Would it change things once- ...if- they got back home? ]
no subject
Depends. Do you think I should know?
[Contrary to popular belief, he does (occasionally) trust Wally's judgement.]
no subject
Here's what I probably can tell you... Things with the Injustice League, a couple months back? They weren't what they seemed.
[ His brow's furrowed. It's frustrating that he knows time travel like this might cause all sorts of problems. ]
no subject
[Looks at Wally.]
For what it's worth, Superman said that whatever you tell me can't change the future.
no subject
When did- Superman's here?
[ You would think he'd have heard stories about a guy flying around in a red cape. ]
no subject
[You would think. Then again, you would think that people would also talk about a guy dressed in a cowl beating up thugs.]
no subject
Huh... I better keep my eyes open, then.
[ The speedster took a deep breath and ran a hand back through his hair. ]
Things are gonna be messy when you go back home, dude. Assuming we go back right where we're taken from. Assuming we get to go back.
...Something happened to Zee's dad that day.
no subject
He leans forward.]
What happened?
no subject
Fate. Zatara put on the helmet.
no subject
Fate didn't let him go, did he?
no subject
Zatara let himself be taken so Fate'd give up Zee. She had put it on to help us stop Klarion.
no subject
Oh.
["Good job, you got KO'd and couldn't help and now look what happened."]
no subject
Dude, there was nothing we could have done. As much as I hate to say it, we were out of our league against Klarion.
no subject
I know but... I still should've been there.
no subject
Wally settled for the roughhousing way. He threw an arm around Dick's shoulders, tugged him close, and began noogying him. ]
no subject
By which I mean, he's very effectively distracted and so fighting back. Well, not fighting fighting, more like trying to reverse the hold.]
no subject
Wally was grinning now; this seemed to be working. He let out a small laugh. ]
C'mon Dick, if I can keep a hold on ya, you're doomed.
no subject
[Because pssh he could totally have you in a submission hold by now. With several broken bones.]
no subject
You'd have to be able to catch me first, dude.
[ But he decided to let go, just to be nice. ]
I'll spare you the trouble, though.
no subject
[He'll be nice and not put you in a submission hold, then, Wally.]
no subject
He's obviously the most mature. ]
no subject
Eloquent as always.
no subject
Really did miss you around here.
no subject
Dude, you know I'd show up eventually.
[Because when they do stupid stuff, they always do it together. Like true bff.]
no subject
[ He sighed a bit, and then looked over to where he had set down the bag of food he brought. His stomach, of course, let out a small rumble. ]
D'ya wanna whip something up so we can break the place in? I've figured out how to cook one or two things. [ After many...
many
many instances of burned food. ]
no subject
Edible things?
no subject
Yes, edible.
[ He zipped off the couch and over to the bag, rummaging through it, tossing out some of the already-prepared things. ]
We'll have something good prepared in a flash.
no subject
I think your uncle is rubbing off on you.
no subject
And back to the rummaging. ]
Up for some- Well. Don't ask what the animal this meat came from looks like.
no subject
As long as it's not people or kedan, I think I'll manage.
no subject
no subject
Guess I'll have to figure out how to cook, so I know what's going in my food.
[Not a slight against Wally but more Bat-paranoia about eating food made by people whose motives he can't decipher. Wally can't cook for him all the time (Bruce can barely cook at all) so he's on his own most of the time.]
no subject
[ Wally eventually got what he needed out of the bag to make something like a stir-fry. It was simple. As long as Wally didn't burn any of the ingredients. He zipped over with what he needed to the kitchen. ]
If you want a starting lesson, I suggest getting your butt in here. [ Class is now in session. ]
no subject
[Getting taught cooking by Wally? He thought he'd never see the day.
He enters the kitchen and starts pulling out the pots and pans that just so happened to be in the apartment already.]
no subject
Think you can manage chopping those things? [ And yes, he had to point to a bunch of multicolored root-looking things, because he didn't know their proper names. ]
no subject
Yeah. I can manage.
[He of course chops them perfectly well. Please, you think he doesn't have training with knives?]
