[Clara is his fellow turtle-parent, so Percy tries not to let himself get too tense when she approaches. Tries to rein in the automatic irritation that comes when someone that isn't...well, Annnabeth, comes over him these days.

What? [Oh, right. Sometimes he forgets that Mrs O'Leary isn't exactly normal] That's my dog. She's a hellhound. Don't worry, she's totally trained.

It's really nothing personal. Not really big on dogs. Allergic. Not sure Hellhounds are included in that.

[Clara steps back slightly. She's not a big fan of animals in the first place and a dog half the size of a house? Not exactly comforting. Still, she doesn't back up any further than that single step and turns to look at Percy.]

[Percy frowns a little when she back up, but it's only one step and - well. Mrs O'Leary is really big] Man, that sucks. I'll make sure she doesn't try to lick you, or anything.

[Something like a smile quirks on her lips] She was a gift. It took the guy who trained her a couple hundred years to actually make her friendly, I think, but you don't really get more loyal than Mrs O'Leary. She showed up on the mainland a few months ago.

[Clara nods, keeping her distance, but definitely no longer agitated by the gigantic dog's presence.]

Must be nice to have a friend show up here. [She looks Mrs. O'Leary up and down.] Mrs. O'Leary. Is she a married hellhound then?

[His smile widens slightly] Yeah, there've been a few surprises in this place, but she's definitely one of the good ones. [He even laughs!] Oh man, I hope not. I mean, I haven't seen her with another one, so it would kind of suck if she was separated, you know? But I'm pretty sure she's not. I didn't name her, Daedalus did.
