Kyle, I wasn't trying to bring you down. I'm glad you're happy. It's good to see you that way. Probably for both of us. Yeah?
no subject
I was happy because you're here. Still am. Honestly.
no subject
'Honestly' my ass.
[He lifts a hand, lets his fingers catch at the back of Kyle's neck and pulls his head down so Jim can kiss his forehead.]
We're out of sync. Feel it?
no subject
You saying I should never leave your side, handsome?
no subject
His and her handcuffs?
[Jim hooks his hands under Kyle's knees and pulls him forward, back onto his lap. It's a quick, flirtatious little motion and it leaves Jim in just the right position to kiss at Kyle's throat.]
We okay?
no subject
We're good. I'm sorry about the last... several days, I haven't exactly been myself. [A pause.] I didn't... say or do anything to you that was.. [gesticulates] y'know--
no subject
Yeah. No. I'm good. I don't hold you responsible for any of that, it's not like it was your fault. Captain's honour.
no subject
Okay.
[He pecks Jim on the cheek, and then uses a fork to stick a piece of omelette and holds it out for Jim to bite.]
no subject
I mean it.
no subject
[He cards a hand through Jim's hair before feeding him another piece. Thinking about the entire affair isn't pleasant, he moves on to a tangent.]
So you met Damian, huh?
no subject
[A firm look, and then he relents, splaying a hand across Kyle's abdomen and sliding up to his shoulder.]
Yeah. He seems like a good kid.
no subject
Don't mind his abrasiveness, yeah?
[Damian's a tough customer to please, and he already didn't like Jim.]
no subject
[Jim leans back against the chair, drapes one arm over it. And with his other hand he reaches up to brush Kyle's hair away from his cheek, over one ear. They could both use haircuts, frankly.]
He's one of yours. I know a kid who's been through hell when I see one, Kyle.
no subject
He'd argue he isn't really a kid and never was — [quiet sigh] Our world isn't kind.
no subject
[He's seen its marks, on Kyle. He knows no world that could treat him like that could be anything but cruel.]
He doesn't like me much, huh. Protective of you?
no subject
[Only who Damian was less angry around. Kyle huffs, quietly. It terrifies him how much Damian cares, sometimes, but it steadies him to be an example. Of what, he's not sure.]
Oddly like Gardner...
no subject
Carefully, he closes his mouth again, looking briefly chagrined. It smooths out after a moment, becomes a brief expression of indulgent affection.]
Guess it's your superpower. Giving people who have nothing else something to hold onto, and care about.
no subject
Don't tell the League that. They'd complain it didn't come up on my profile all those years ago.
no subject
(Okay, maybe a little)
He sets him down on the edge of the table, well away from the food and kisses his jaw, the side of his neck, his collarbone, which he has to tug the shirt away from to manage properly.]
Anyone who doesn't realize it's blind.
no subject
C'mon, I'm pretty sure I have a few flaws.
no subject
[He bites a little at the side of his neck, barely enough to bruise. It's cold enough they can get away with turtlenecks, now. Especially when you're from California.]
