Loki knew where all the lines were, logically speaking. He knew a lot of things that he'd figured out before his unknown foes thought to reach into his soul and tear free the heaviest of the burdens he'd been weighed down with. That lightness is how he can still be genuinely smiling when he recognizes that the something he'd seen before was still somehow wrong.

Better judgement failed him without that input. Had he been able to feel guilt for it, recognizing that there was still a problem may have led to him backing off, but it's far too late now. His eyes are sharp, predatory, and he fully expects them to play their game. They would banter, Loki would see if he could outmaneuver Iron Man and come away with some new little victory, and life would go on. ]
