Sabriel had made daily visits to one particular square in the Water Sector ever since the visit to Sinbrilee. At its center was was a single towering stone, at least twice Sabriel's height, and entirely covered in small, constantly moving symbols.

Sabriel had taken off one of her gloves, and pressed her bare hand to the stone and closed her eyes, apparently deep in concentration.

LESSONS; OPEN TO STUDENTS

Sabriel's classroom at the school had been cleared of most furniture, save for a few desks and chairs. Diagrams and lists of magical formula had been posted on the walls, several copies of notes and lesson plans rested on Sabriel's desk.

"I thought," Sabriel began, "That I'd teach you something useful, and not particularly complicated- a warming-spell."
