Aihsohlow | Phorezton | Markutte | Countryside
The countryside is layered with snow that is up to four meters deep, all fallen within the past two months as a cold season falls upon the country. There are numerous roads in between towns and small, domed minesteads and each road is oddly clear of snow and ice. Closer inspection reveals that the surfaces are heated by some technology buried beneath the black surfaces. Occasional construction crews can be seen tearing up or laying down new surfacing over a web of thick, coated wires that presumably provide the heat. Snow is often found sculpted near crossroads, taking artistic shape in anything from beautifully arched sculptures to recreations of local fauna.
Wildlife can be spotted here and there, with a large herd of antlered beasts making their way across the snowy grounds. Webbing between their toes (yes, toes) allows each of the large, white animals to traverse upon the snow-tops with barely a print left in their wake. Hunting parties can be seen chasing after the fringes of this herd while wearing some sort of hovering harness and it is evident that the beasts are a primary source of meat for the people. Birds flit back and forth, a few predatory mammals can be spied at the edges of the icebound forests, and there are a variety of serpentine pets kept by residents fortunate to live in the warmer domed towns.
Speaking of towns, the three within the barrier's reach are spaced roughly twenty kilometres away from one another, forming a triangle of commerce that sustains each. Aihsohlow represents the southernmost town, Phorezton the northernmost, and Markutte the northeastern one. There are a variety of small minesteads in between that would greet travellers, but only reluctantly allow them into their homes. Stories abound of troubles outside the domes and they are not apt to invite said troubles inside.

LATE BUT OPEN
The chilly air of the countryside was an immediate draw to Rodimus, who finally got the opportunity to go out and explore on his own without worrying about a disguise.
Leaving behind the bustle of the market cities, he'd initially wandered out in vehicle mode, cruising through the warm roads of the countryside and letting the long desired fresh air seep into his vents. He let his engine roar loudly as he approached the less inhabited areas of the roads, enjoying the speed for however briefly he could. The spaces between the cities were a sorely needed break from the turtle. His holoform sat comfortably in the driver's seat.
B. (Robot mode)
As soon as he got around the ten kilometer halfway mark, he seemed to slow down.
Empty road. For the time being.
Nice.
The orange vehicle stops. After one or two brief checks, it begins to shift. First, the doors and canopy jerk out of place, shortly followed by the spoiler and wheelwells. The car becomes a collection of machinery and parts before eventually reassembling into a bipedal robot. Finally!
Rodimus stretches his arms and back and takes a look at the deep snow and frozen forest next to him. Well. It wasn't fenced off or anything, time to go explore. (Not that fences would stop him, really. They'd probably encourage him more.) There's one big step into the snow forming walls around the roads before his legs would soon almost disappear into the white.
A!
Here he is, in his civies, making his way towards the next location where he wants to plant his not subtle at all snow
dickssculptures, with his loud bag of snow equipment hanging off his shoulder when there comes a roar of an engine. Cleaner than any engine he's heard on the Turtle. It's a distance away but he stops. And looks.
And waits.
Keeps looking and keeps waiting, like some drifter looking for a ride. It's half true, he's also thinking of jacking the car if they stop. Because who wouldn't.]
Re: A!
[It was running on pure energon, so whatever sound it did emit was a pleasant, consistent growl. How did someone get access to that?]
[Well, Jason would get the opportunity to ask as it began to slow on approach. Hey, he was a fellow Foreigner wading through twenty kilometers of road and snow. Rodimus wasn't so callous as to just rush by without even slowing down.]
[So his speed lowers to about a walking pace, and Rodimus glances at him with his hologram as the window lowers.]
Where are you headed?
no subject
Maybe he can paint it over with a sleek black and red strips on—
He bends and takes a good look at the interiors. A moment and a low whistle later, he grins sheepishly, assumes his alter-ego Peter the mechanic that hovers around in bars and talks trash about what's good shop work.]
Back to town, where there's people and a warm bath wouldn't so bad either.
no subject
[The holoform remarks.]
But it's gonna be a weird fit.
[The canopy of the passenger cabin slides forward - much more akin to an aircraft rather than any commercial car. Cybertronian vehicles weren't really constructed with several passengers in mind, but he could probably fit in the space right behind the driver's seat. If he didn't mind the lack of seatbelts.]
[The readouts were rather in-depth as well, if he chose to take a closer look. It seemed as if it was decked out with quite a few scanners. Some searching for life signs, energon (whatever that was), and other energy signatures.]
no subject
[A better look at the interiors reveals it to be more like the Batmobile in one of its many designs. Equipped with scanners, and all the good stuff that doesn't come in usual kedan cars. The only problem is how the fuck is he going to get in.
He stops his mid-climb and leans back a bit.]
Don't think I can get in to the back with you still in the hot seat...
[He changed his mind about stealing the car since well, he's got a soft spot for brunettes but that's besides the point.]
I'm not trying anything funny, I swear.
no subject
I'd hope not. Hate to make enemies with another Tu Vishan resident so early.
[Rodimus isn't too concerned about any funny business. Largely because it's Rodimus, and the worst that could happen could be explained with some sorta.. Car AI. Or something. Humans have those, right?]
[The holoform steps out to wait on the side, and the seat pushes itself forward and tilts a bit with the whirr of electronics.]
[Step in, buddy.]
no subject
[He shrugs but smiles a quick thanks.
This is uncomfortable is the first thought after he folds himself in the back. He can still breathe and it is warmer here but his knees are touching the back of the driver seat. And he might have banged his elbow on the —he doesn't even know what that is.]
Wow.[He looks genuinely and pleasantly surprised because:] This is some ride.
no subject
[Rodimus can't resist a compliment - even if it might be better to just drop it altogether.]
[The holomatter avatar steps back into the seat before taking hold of the car's steering. With a smooth whirr of motors, the clear cockpit settles back into place, and the vehicle begins to pick up speed with the growling engine.]
[Not exactly the most comfortable or secure spot for a ride, but at least it was something.]
Got a name?
no subject
I'd be lying if I wasn't a bit jealous of this ride. This must have cost more than a few bucks. What'd you auction off, your soul? And you think they have another one? My ride's nice but this is better than nice.
[Just briefly, he wonders ...is this the kiddie seat... ]
Yeah. Joey. You?
no subject
[Speaking of somethings. Something mechanical behind him shifts as they make a sharp turn, almost as if the vehicle itself had tensed a little as it moved.]
[But it's just a weird space car. Cars don't tense up.]
You can call me Rodimus.

It was something he had not done with such impunity since he was a youth and before he became a full member of the science guild. With age, however, had come the understanding that wandering too far afield and without care would, if it did not endanger himself, would at least endanger whatever research or materials he collected needlessly.
With a full day's worth of notes written down- a practice that was supremely archaic on Krypton, which had advanced well beyond relying on only written information- and a variety of samples collected from the forest, he began making his way to the closest road. While he could remain out there longer- there was more than enough to observe and take samples from, and the effect of cold weather was negligible- it would be better to return.
This decision soon appeared to be a wise one, as he made out a large bipedal figure stepping into the snow directly off the road. Whatever the reason for the orange armor was, it certainly had made the being easy to spot.

Rodimus shifted his core temperature, letting it rise a couple more degrees to more easily cut through all the white. Twenty feet of metal tended to sink all the way to the bottom. But hey, it wasn't much more difficult than wading through water when you could melt the snow with your body.
His own exploration was much less organized and structured than his observer's. Rodimus just enjoyed the open space and the freedom to go any which way he liked. He occasionally stopped to look at any wildlife perched on the trees, giving it a slightly weirded out look, but otherwise continued unabated.
Where was he going? Rodimus had no idea. And he was perfectly fine with that.
no subject
In this case, however, it made him more visible to whoever it was he was watching. Their form was heavily similar to another he had seen some time ago on the network.
He began his approach.
no subject
Oh.
Oh. That was - That was a floating human. Following him. He was followed?! He was so sure the road was empty!
Wow, okay. Calm down. Damage control mode.
"Uh.."
"Wow, hi."
Ace job, Rodimus. A+.
no subject
"Hello." There weren't any indicators on his part to show much beyond a fairly neutral expression.
"This land is fascinating, isn't it?"
no subject
Continuing calm conversation:
"Yeah, actually. It's nice to get out into the open."
...
"Who are you?"
no subject
Giant and gaudy robots were not normal on Krypton- subdued colors were preferred and the robots present were kept to smaller sizes- but the similarity to Rung and the fact that he was far more advanced than what was to be seen from the Kedan population in Keeliai had made him intrigued.
"I am Jor-El."
no subject
The second part is an important addition.
"You're not screaming or anything so I'm guessing that giant mechanoids aren't so unusual where you come from."
Wow Rodimus be nice.
"The kedan freak out at mobile comm links, so you can't tell anyone about me for obvious reasons, understand?"
no subject
"I am willing to be discreet as you request, if that is the case. With what has appeared in Keeliai so far your current appearance would not necessarily be cause for alarm." He had seen the network post by a very different looking Rodimus and with the shared mention of comm links, it is not entirely out of the realm of possibility that due to some manner, they are one and the same.
no subject
None of them said he could take free walks in the snow, mind, but still. There was an attempt!
"Okay, well. Since you've already seen the real me, I may as well ask what your story is."
no subject
"I came from a planet called Krypton. I was already aware of Earth's existence before I arrived here, though I have never traveled there myself." If the opportunity had been present, he would have readily taken it.
no subject
Look at him using his hands for emphasis.
Though the immediate disliking may have to do more with their civil war than just being giant robots. Flattening a bunch of other planets fighting it tends to have that effect, as hard as his team tried to avoid it.
no subject
"That may be due to a lack of familiarity with sufficiently advanced technology." Krypton had long mastered the creation of organic technology before Jor-El's own birth was planned.
no subject
But sure. He'll go with the technology thing. That works.
"Hey, I'm not going to debate it. As long as what happened here stays in this forest."
Oops thought I hit enter on this.
