Characters: Jack, Korra
Date: December 2nd
Location: Earth Sector
Situation: Ever play airball?
Warnings/Rating: N/A

Just as she’s over the pitch, the wings to the glider retract and Korra thrusts her palm downwards. Air pushes away any loose dirt and cushions her fall so she lands on her feet. Setting up the metal glider stick against the stone poles of the pitch, she brought her sling bag around and took out the hollow wooden ball.

Using her forearm, or rather the part of her sleeveless glove that covered her forearm, Korra rubs the polished wood. Custom make from the Wood Sector and it cost her a pretty juulan considering the type of wood they used. Strong enough to withstand being ricocheted off of stone.

Giving it a test, she tosses it upwards with a light boost from airbending and is satisfied with the result. Catching it in one hand, Korra smiles and remembers when she first arrived at Air Temple Island. Then she was only able to watch the kids play the game while she watched from the sidelines.

Her airbending block seems like a far off memory now…

Now that she’s here, Korra leans against the corner of the court and begins her wait. Thought it never occurs to her that she really didn’t even check to see if he’s been there the whole time.

"Yeah," he replied shortly, though the tone was obviously not directed at Korra for asking. "He is -- was -- very dangerous. No matter what his reasons were... he wanted to hurt a lot of people to get what he wanted. He killed Sandy, for a while."

"Not just tried," Jack corrected. "But Sandy's a lot tougher than he looks, he came back. I think he might have been the only one of us who'd have been able to do that. We beat Pitch though... all of us, together. Last we saw him..."

A slight pinch develops in Jack's face at the recollection.

"He was being dragged back underground by his own Nightmares."

"Yeah... I guess so."

Jack didn't like to think about the way Pitch had seemed so genuinely terrified as the Nightmares dragged him away. It left an oily, uncomfortable knot in the pit of his stomach.

"Thanks Korra."

"I think we can negotiate something," he smirked in response. "Maybe set up some stands on the side, invite some people."

"Are you kidding? If we're going to face off, there better be some money exchanging hands," the spirit teased. "We'll find someone to calculate odds."

Jack flicked out his own hand and the north wind responded, stealing the ball from Korra's grasp and dropping it into his own.

"And you haven't seen what I can do," he returned.

"Sounds perfect to me," he agreed. "Let's set it for the beginning of March, all right? I'll make sure the snow's mostly gone by then, for the spectator's seating at least."
