Hope you brought some juulan. [Said with a smirk, but it’s a fair warning since Korra usually out-eats Jim. Usually.
Taking a booth just near the window, Korra’s already ordering two dishes she’s been wanting to try before they even get comfortable.]

[He pats Naga's head as well before entering, and goes to wash his hands first, his movements filled with an ease and lazy sort of comfort, and sits down opposite just as she's ordering. He's turned himself as much towards the door as possible, keeping an eye on the rest of the room.]
Pushing your luck?
[Eyes bright, he smiles at her pleasantly before looking over the menu, and orders the same thing Korra is, since he hasn't previously tried it.]

[Even for her, especially earthbending to fix what she could.
She places her chin on her fist and casual as anything:] So is it Jim or Zatanna?
[From her experiences with Kyle, they tend to avoid each other because somehow, someway, they always end up rubbing each other the wrong way. So either she did something wrong that she didn't know about yet, or either of the two suggested this to Kyle.]

[His drink arrives first, plain, fresh water, and he sips it idly, looking at her over the rim of the glass. It hits him then just how young she is - the same age he was - and how little of the world she's experienced. He himself hadn't had that much before meeting Connor anyway, but it was still... worrisome. One's instincts had to be honed.]
[Somebody with that much power needed good instincts.]
Neither. I'm actually capable of coming up with brilliant ideas all by myself.
[His tone is dry, self-deprecating. He's well aware what she thinks of him and sees no need to embellish himself in her eyes.]
no subject
Didn’t think I’d be a part of one of them. [Her snark’s light and is topped off an amused, raised eyebrow when her drink arrives. Hot chocolate.]
You actually going to be able to finish this? [Seeing the waiter carrying piping hot plates their way, Korra continues her amused look.]
no subject
[He puts the glass down and nods approvingly at her hot chocolate, before he sorts out the cutlery. Chopsticks aren't really something he's very good at, so he opts for a fork.]
I'm hungry, you're hungry. I'd be worried if we didn't finish this.
no subject
Guess we are.
[Her thoughts were more on his encouragement and support with Jack when she contacted him, yelling. Breaking off the wooden chopsticks provided and then rubbing them together to get rid of any tiny splinters, Korra digs into the meal.
It isn’t a shoveling contest, but she makes it seem like one with how hungry she is.]
These pancakes are great. You know, [Somehow she can speak through the food bulging out her cheeks.] it’s a shame there’s no whipped cream.
…I think I know the only person in Keeliai who has some.
no subject
They're good, it's better when it's homemade. [Eyebrow raise.] Who has whipped cream?
no subject
Who wants to know?
[Taking a sip of her hot chocolate while he cheeks are still stuffed. It's all going down to the same spot anyway, according to Korra.]
no subject
[Kyle tilts his head, questioningly, feeling he's missing something here.]
no subject
Why? [That's her hot chocolate supplier that puts it only on her daily mug. For all she knows it's some type of contraband and could get him in trouble.
Over whipped cream though. It sounded ridiculous even to her, but she's staying on the safe side.]
no subject
[omg stop pointing those things at him.]
It goes well with pancakes; thought I might try something other than syrup.
no subject
I'll see what I can do.
[Food is serious business.
Speak of the devil, Korra shovels in another whole pancake into her mouth.]
You should try the ones with the squares, they take a lot of syrup to cover.
no subject
You mean waffles or actually square pancakes?
no subject
...yes?
[It fit. Somehow.]
no subject
These are called waffles.
no subject
Oh, then yeah. I was right then. It's a square pancake with squares in it.
[She's claiming victory on that one by barely wolfing down that pancake and begin working on her last one.]
no subject
Don't let the waffle purists hear you say that. Them's fighting words.
no subject
[That's a square waffle if she ever saw one. Even if it's only the second time she's seen one.]
You gonna finish that? [Clicking her chopsticks at his plate now that her last waffle is down to being in just one cheek.]
no subject
No. Help yourself.
no subject
That much.]Thanks, I will.
[Scooting it the rest of the way, Korra's easily finishing up what's left. Whatever germs or cooties are, Korra doesn't acknowledge them in the slightest.]
no subject
Delicious?
no subject
[She's already got a few more lined up in her head for next time.]
Thanks for laughing, it hit the spot. [Because food-
Never mind, even she knows it wasn't the greatest joke and she finishes up the last of her still-hot chocolate.]
no subject
[A beat.]
James knows a few terrible ones.
no subject
[She tosses jokes with Jack and Zatanna a lot, don't get her started. There's already things she's ready to ask Jim.]
