[SEMI-OPEN] It's a merry 616 Christmas

Characters: Bucky Barnes (616), Toro Raymond, Tony Stark (616), Nita Prentiss, Avengers, and anybody who might have gotten an invitation from anyone else in attendance (it's easy to finangle, Nita knows half the turtle)
Date: Probably New Year's Eve
Location: Bucky's and Toro's tree house in Wood Sector
Situation: A combination holidays party for some old and new friends (because the mood around the turtle has been weird since the Emperor's death), including small presents, spiked egg nog, and all that good old Earthy holiday cheer.
Warnings/Rating: None atm, will change if something comes up.

[No one is really sure whose idea the little get-together was, but somehow, there's a party going on at the wood sector treehouse that Bucky and Toro (sometimes) live in. It's a pretty casual party, with some market-bought snacks laid out, and some holiday type drinks. The front door is left open to anyone who might want to come by (getting an invitation is no doubt easy, walking in to see what the fuss is about is even easier), and Bucky has found some hideous tribble-fur kedan approximation of a Santa hat to wear.

Also on the table is a small bush decorated with a string of popcorn and other Depression-era type ornamentation. Shouldn't have let the 40s boys take care of the tree.

And finally, it's a good time to give those slightly belated gifts. Bucky's gotten a few things for his friends, and when they come in, he'll shove a hastily wrapped box at them with a grin.]

"Loves" is a strong word. [He's from the 40s and raised on a military base, 'love' is a strong word period. But he doesn't actually think Namor hates him so he'll let it go.] And you're tellin' me.

[Luckily though, Bucky is easily distracted by presents, and he perks up a bit when she brings him a box. It's almost too pretty to unwrap but that never stopped him before, so as soon as he's handed her back her drink, he's setting in on the present, trying to play it cool but with a hint of 'overeager child'.

The knife is absolutely beautiful and Bucky does not even pretend he isn't awed as he tests the balance in his hand.] Oh criminey, that's a beaut. Where'd you get a knife like this?

[Whatever. Nita knows it's love.]

A couple trunks of my stuff turned up a landfall or two back. I thiiink it was one my grandfather's, or maybe a great-uncle's.

[She's got so many priceless heirlooms she can't even keep track of them. Besides, she never knew anyone in her family but her mother and Namor, anyway.]

It'll hold an edge basically forever and won't read on metal detectors or the kind of weapons scanners Atlantis uses...Namor wouldn't mind you having it, but, uh don't tell any other Atlanteans.

[Don't mind her, she's just handing out assassination weapons to surface dwellers.]

[Excuse him as he plays with the knife, all quietly thrilled with the weight of it and the balance, twirling it in his hand and tossing it into the air to catch in the other hand with easy precision.]

I don't think that's gonna be too hard, I haven't exactly met many other Atlanteans 'sides you and Namor. [God he loves this thing.] Not without tryin' to kill each other, anyway. Geez, Atlanteans sure know how to make a knife.

[Nita is the best at gifts, okay. She watches Bucky perform his tricks with a slight smug edge to her smile.]

We have been doing it for like 10,000 years, Bucky.

[Namor's an arrogant jackass, but he's also the descendant of an imperial house that goes back eight millennia. It's not entirely unwarranted.]

So I guess you like it, huh?
