Better to nip it in the bud before it becomes a problem then to solve a problem later. Even if it never becomes a problem it ensures everything is done properly and timely.

Eridan does not have a job. Can he not be given this task? I do not intend to spend a great deal of time in this house while my research is at the stage it is.

I know.

Which is why, if you read the chart, he has far more chores than the rest of us. Plus doing chores builds character. Which he sorely needs.

Clara, I will not be spending each day and night here. I request that you redistribute the aforementioned chores.

Understood.

[she moves to raise her arms in defeat but decides it's a bad idea to considering the towel.]

[ Clara just got promoted to Captain of the House. Spock's eyes narrow as he stares at her for a moment, trying to gauge her reply. ]

Is this an inconvenient solution?

No. I mean, I'm not mad about doing chores. But won't say no to being busy.

[She shrugs and gives him a smile as if that will help convince him that she is really okay with this.]

Didn't mean to... overstep my boundaries. I get... [She closes and uncloses her fingers.] controlling. A bit.

You need not apologize for attempting to factor a reliable routine into the running of this household. [ He looks away, then back. ] Would it be more agreeable if I purchased items on your own shopping list whenever I returned from the laboratories? Eridan has his lusus and I am not certain that Jack eats a great amount.

[She beams at him. Both because she's pleased to have praise and because she totally knew it was a great idea okay.]

Can't say no to that deal. I'll cook dinner for us both. Everyone else can eat too if they want.

I am amenable. Thank you, Clara. Your presence in this house promotes more additionally positive factors than not.

Just counting how I'm wracking them up lately.

[ He shakes his head a little, offering a small not-quite smile. ]

I find your company very satisfying. You are a good ... friend.

[ The tail-end of the word turns up and he looks at Clara as if for clarification. Are they friends yet? Do they meet the required parameters in her opinion? For Spock, he would estimate so based off their congenial relations. ]

[And she gives him a smile, not a smirk or a playful grin, but a real smile back. She adores Spock. He's that funny bit of life that you don't even realize you were missing until he pops up. Now she can't imagine it without him.]

We are good friends. Satisfying company and all.

It is strange, having a friend who is not in any way linked to my current commission as commander of the Enterprise or previous history at the academy. Despite this, I find my opinion of you is not lessened in the slightest. The position you hold in my estimation is unique.

[ Before she can reply to that, he steps back with a nod to the bathroom. ]

I will let you return to your ablutions.

[She laughs and shakes her head at the "Spock-ness" of the compliment. She does appreciate it though. It's nice to feel a little special, every now and then.]

Glad to hear it. Honestly I'd hug you but there's the whole "practically naked" thing. That's not quite a friendship boundary to be crossed.

Indeed. [ Welp, to be polite he turns away and rests his hands behind his back. ] We will talk in greater depth later, when you are correctly attired.
