[ In the process of buying vegetables for dinner, he pauses when Tess gives him a nod of welcome and takes that as his cue to approach. ]

Greetings. [ Leading on from where their last conversation left off, he gestures ahead and politely sets a strolling pace through the market. ] Have you acclimatized yet?

[Did she mention he also talks funny? Basically Tess doesn't have much idea what to make of Spock, but ultimately he's one more weird thing about this really, really weird place.]

Uh, I suppose so. It's... kind of a process, I think. [She still isn't sleeping well, but that's neither here nor there. And since when did she ever sleep well to begin with?]

How's Ellie doing on her lessons? [Ellie is the common ground between them, she supposes. Might as well ask after her.]

[ Spock (and many Vulcans, besides) would insist that humans speak with far more circuitous flair than is needed. It's something he's grown accustomed to, living in San Francisco, so it hardly registers most of the time. Tess makes a lot more sense than someone with McCoy's temperament, there is that. ]

She is a bright and eager pupil. Her lessons currently involve planetary-based information, though it may be prudent to place her in a kedan school for two or three days out of the week in order to hone her other skill-sets.

And knowing about planets is really practical on the back of a turtle? [Tess sort of arches a brow at him, but it's vaguely amused.] Whatever she enjoys, I guess.

[A glance around the market, at all the kedan vendors and the kedan lettering everywhere.] Learning the language might be good.
