Situation: Teaching kids in the Dojo, busting heads in an abandoned warehouse

His smile falls a bit.

"I'm sorry. I know how frustrating that can be."

[looksfine]

"Actually, I do not find it, or them, frustrating. Each Hal Jordan has been very kind to me, and displaying no outer signs of hostility or malice towards my presence."

That didn't mean she still didn't miss her own family. The ones who had seen her grow and blossom into the young robot she was now.

[michaeljangelo]

"No? Guess it's just me then. I mean, it's not that I don't like my cousins, it's just...they're not my brothers. And when the novelty wears thin, it just makes me resent them,...I guess."

[looksfine]

"You resent them? Why? Simply for bearing a face that is familiar to you, yet not?"

[michaeljangelo]

"Isn't that enough," he says with a slight, sheepish, shrug.

[looksfine]

There was no immediate response. Aya appeared to be thinking of something. Someone. Multiple someone's in fact. And how best to phrase the emotions that she felt regarding those who bore another's faces.

The fact that she continued to stand straight, rather than sit, was a testament to the artificial nature of her form. Concentration was not required to maintain impeccable posture.

"You would not be the first to carry such an opinion," her tone, oddly sad. She glanced down, then back up. "I had not been so aware that a facial visage could carry such importance to individuals when I created my physical form. Perhaps it is because of this that I cannot resent either Hal Jordan. Unlike me, they did not choose their appearance."

"When you created...you got to choose what you looked like?"
There's a tinge of awe to his tone.

[looksfine]

Yes and no.

"When I was created, I was not given a form. However, it was established that parameters for becoming a Green Lantern required a body that I could move around in and interact with others, and thus, I constructed one for myself. Characteristics were chosen based on the last known female imprint in my database, taken from the memory of a close ally."

Somebody he had lost.

[michaeljangelo]

"It didn't go over well, did it?"

[looksfine]

"He was upset, yes. Particularly when the truth of what I had done came to light. I still do not know why he said nothing before then."

[michaeljangelo]

"Probably for the same reason I didn't...I don't tell my cousins the same thing. I don't want to hurt their feelings at the same time as looking like a gigantic jerk."

[looksfine]

"Perhaps."

Or perhaps Razer was simply in denial until forced to face the truth.

"But do you understand why I am not so quick to judge others who are not in control of something for which I was?"

[michaeljangelo]

"Yeah, I think so. For what it's worth? I'm sorry that happened to you."

[looksfine]

"As am I. Not for what I have done..." if only because, the moment of conflict with Razer aside, so much good had come from the creation of her physical form. Not just for herself, but those around her. "...but for the brief pain I unintentionally caused."

She was silent for a moment, before looking over at Mike with absolute certainty.

"You should speak with your cousins about these thoughts"

"Why? So they can tell me they all feel the same way and then we can all know how miserable we've all secretly been?"

[looksfine]

"Are you so certain they do feel the same way?"

[michaeljangelo]

He shrugs and looks away.

"What's the saying? Better to keep your mouth shut and have them think you're a fool than open it and remove all doubt?"

[looksfine]

"I am unfamiliar with that saying." Her usual response to hearing a particular colloquialism, although, for once, its meaning was pretty obvious to her. "I also do not think you are a fool."

[michaeljangelo]

"No?" he looks back up at her, his grin is slow to return, but it does return.

"Did you miss the point where I jumped out the window after dancing like a loon?"

[looksfine]

There was a brief pause.

"That example is irrelevant to this current conversation."

[michaeljangelo]

The pause only serves to encourage him.

"I don't think that it is."

[looksfine]

"I do."

[michaeljangelo]

"Well...what's your basis of comparison?"

[looksfine]

"Our previous topic of conversation. While I do not agree with you, I cannot help but take note of your reasons and personal feelings behind the arguments you have made. They are not the illogical ramblings of a fool."

[michaeljangelo]

"Well then you get the distinct privilege of being the first person to have ever taken me seriously. Unfortunately, as I was never actually prepared for this...I don't have a medal, or certificate suitable for framing."
