Characters: Asami ([personal profile] chittybang), Korra ([personal profile] alphatar)
Date: January 17th
Location: ME-2A
Situation: Moving in!
Warnings/Rating: N/A

After her conversation with Asami, Korra just left her door wide open since she knew Asami would be over soon and Naga took the advantage to go outside.

The suite most had the same layout of ME-2B so Korra didn't have to think on where to start putting anything. The hardest part was out of the way now that all her furniture was in place, the rest of it was just unpacking her stuff.

One of the first things Korra did was get out some of her fish jerky, a small boost of energy to get her ready to hang out with her friend so they could tackle the task.

That alone made her smile. Now that she was home and feeling like herself, Korra wanted to get back with her friends. Have her home in Keeliai feel more like her home world. Their home world.

Asami doesn't quite know how to respond to that, except somewhat agree with a short nod of her head. She figures as much. It also answers her own question as to how Korra might feel about all this.

She straightens her legs to stand and keeps her hands at her sides.

"I didn't want you to find out by surprise."

I know how that feels is on the tip of her tongue, almost a knee jerk response to Korra's tone even despite her concern, but she isn't trying to burn bridges here.
chittybang: (now you're just a bitch.)

Asami thinks her offer is out of place, but she grants her the leeway of an awkward moment. It's a nice gesture, and she could have said something far worse. She only wishes they wouldn't leave things unsaid for once, and with that the conversation they could have had feels shut down.

But it's possible Asami is readier for it than her counterpart. Even then, she isn't sure if she'll ever be prepared to just hash out feelings with her. All she wants is a friendship. She likes Korra, a lot.

So for now she'll count her blessings.

She quietly says in return, "Thanks." She musters a small smile. "I'm here for you, too. Right across the hall, in fact."
chittybang: (that's rough buddy.)

Asami isn't completely relieved. She certainly doesn't feel loosey-goosey enough to resume unpacking like nothing just happened. While Korra finds her functionality, Asami continues to stand there. Her forced smile ceases.

"To be honest, I figured you would've wanted me to leave. I can give you space."
chittybang: (damn right you pegged me wrong.)

She appreciates the honesty. Asami feels sorry for Korra without moving or saying anything for a moment, and another part of her is making up her mind. Even if she doesn't want to be alone, Asami doesn't feel like the best company for her to have around.

The comment worries her, however. She resolves to stay, and without any kind of announcement of her decision, she begins to break down the box she'd just emptied.

"Does it have anything to do with this past week? I didn't hear from you for a while there."
chittybang: (i cut my finger. hope i can still dance.)

I kept reading "Leo the departing turtle" ah ha haaa

Even if it could be in someone's best interest to leave, to consciously experience their original home without worrying about this alternate reality, Asami understands how difficult it must feel to suddenly miss someone's company. She looks at her sympathetically as she crouches down to key open another box.

"So what held you longer?"
chittybang: (i'm basically half-vampire.)

In other words, Asami really did have a bit of bad timing with this. She preoccupies herself with drawing folded clothes from her box.

"Hopefully things will start to look up soon. I mean, you have a driving lesson to look forward to now, so there's that. Just keep yourself busy." She offers her a short, encouraging look. "You're pretty good at that."
