[ he'd nearly forgotten what it was like to have someone being so... parent-like towards him and for a few seconds, nico just stares in confusion. it occurs to him that she's way past annoyed at the moment and the scowl returns to his face in retaliation. ]

Maybe it only happens when people aren't trying. [ stupid comment, but that's kind of how he feels like right now, having been trying to do exactly that - disappear - for the past little while now. ]

[Annabeth rolls her eyes. Again. She was kind of expecting some sort of obstinance from Nico, though, so she's a little prepared to keep talking.] It's not like anyone wants to be stuck here, you know. But my point still stands. Don't vanish on purpose and leave us all wondering.

[ see, now he's just being dumb for the hell of it. but he hasn't had someone worry over him (besides hazel) in years now and he's gotten used to the kind of independence and carelessness it granted him. ]
