"Yes, we always can. You're new to Keeliai, right?" She motions for the younger woman to follow her, because she's trying to avoid wasting too much time.

"All of that sounds promising. Especially since you already know some physiology." Every little bit she doesn't have to go over herself helps. "I'm Bianca Reyes, by the way."
She's heading over to one of the elevators, which she hits the call button for for the next floor when they reach it.

A name for a name, as is proper. "I'm Raine Sage." She keeps pace, and takes advantage of the pause at the elevator to ask, "There are humans from many different worlds here, correct? Are there any significant biological differences from human to human?"
The odds of all the people that call their species human being exactly the same in makeup seem slim at best, when they come from so many worlds. Better to ask a perhaps obvious question than to make a mistake for lack of knowledge later.

Bianca hits for floor they need, and glances quickly at the clipboard with her before looking back up at the younger woman with a smile.
"You're right, there're a bunch of us from different ones. Most are some version of Earth or another, but as far as we've seen here, at least, there haven't been any significant differences." There's a short pause before she continues on.
"Humans aren't the only ones they've brought here, but I'm pretty sure we make up the majority. The facilities here are mostly set up for treating humans and kedan, so we've had a few surprises." Like having to keep an Atlantean in one of the tubs Sep needs for his own skills to be put to use.

A lack of significant differences is good, though... "Earth," Raine repeats. Not really a question, more of a surprised echo. It's true that none of them had really thought of what the new world was going to be called, but if she had to speculate, it wouldn't be Earth. "Hm."
She is curious about that, but if there's enough people from some version of it, then it's not a line of inquiry she needs to pursue with someone as busy as Bianca. "Surprises," she says instead. "Would you mind elaborating?"
Her other main question at the moment, that of where Bianca's going, will likely be answered soon enough anyway.

"You probably missed it, since you're new, but there was a fog covering the city that came from a bottle. Which had another world inside it. Magic." She waves a hand as she says it. Not out of dismissal of it as a concept, but combined with her tone making it clear it's not something she knows that much about.
The elevator doors open once more, letting them out.
"People were ordered to go in if they were able to fight. Apparently it didn't go too well, even though we won. Some died, others came back badly injured."
She turns to look over at Raine properly. "Like I said, this facility is mainly able to handle kedan and humans. Other species, not so much unless someone like Septimus or Korra is around- I'm sure you'll meet them soon enough. They can use their own abilities for healing, I have to rely on tools and medicine."
She stops in front of some double doors that lead into a room. "Not everyone's physiologically similar enough to humans or kedan that what I'm able to do is possible. Which is never the sort of surprise you want when someone's condition is serious."
no subject
"I've heard Korra's name, at least. She uses water to heal, correct?" Raine stops when Bianca does, gives the doors a brief glance, then looks back to Bianca, thinking while she waits. Tools and medicine are just different facets of the healing discipline as far as she's concerned, ones that can succeed in situations that magic can't. It would be valuable to learn more.
"I haven't had the opportunity to see if my own artes work on those who have unfamiliar physiologies, but in theory, there shouldn't be a significant difference." And she grimaces a little. "Theory is an unfortunately fragile thing, sometimes."
That is the worst kind of surprise, and even if she doesn't know the exact feeling, she knows something similar enough she can sympathize.

It's not something she's fond of doing when it comes to medical work; at home and in the kitchen? Sure, the worst that happens there is the kids refusing to eat the result, which is a rarity. When someone's life could be endangered by it?
Not so much.
"She does. Same with Sep."
no subject
Sep -- Septimus -- and Korra don't sound like they share linguistic roots, but language isn't something she knows as much about. "Are they from the same place?" And then she catches herself, realizes she's chasing a trail of knowledge that while relevant is not the main order of business. Moving on.
They must have stopped for a reason. She tilts her head a little, to indicate the double doors before them. "Am I keeping you?"

On the other side is a small ward, the beds not entirely filled, all kedan.
"I'm just doing a round of checkups, nothing too serious."

Kedan, however, make up the majority of the city. She'll have to learn, and there's no better time to start, really. And she's guessing Bianca wouldn't have invited Raine to follow if being shadowed was something she would object to. "I'll try to stay out of your way," she says, fully intending to watch everything carefully and request some kind of textbook later. Kedan can't be too different, right?
She has about fifty questions regarding the kedan and the techniques Bianca uses, but one thing at a time.

She's with the third patient (out of five present) when she looks over to Raine, as she's checking their pulse. "Have any questions?"
no subject
She's just throwing an assortment of the more relevant ones out there, hoping to get a better idea of the holes in her knowledge and what she'll need. She's also completely talking over the heads of the kedan in the room.
