If someone had told Akito when he first arrived that he would start up two separate - albeit miniscule - businesses, he would have laughed. Now though, he finds himself enjoying the thrill of delivering packages as subtly as he can manage. Fake letters stay in his bag, with the real messages carefully lining hidden compartments. Larger packages are an issue he has yet to resolve completely, but he still does his level best.

He checks his suite three times every day for any messages regarding deliveries, and while he can't guarantee same day delivery, he can guarantee delivery within 48 hours or less. It doesn't feel like something worth being proud of, but Akito finds himself proud of it all the same.

With the way things are since the bombings, Akito has even fewer skating lessons to manage, but he still holds them twice a week. Most of the time he ends up alone, which he can understand given the current instability of the city. He still dedicates the allotted time to skating; refreshing his mind on how to perform the most advanced of his Tricks. It's a win-win in his mind - not only does he get to have time to forget about how he's alone in Keeliai, he also increases his chances of luring in more students.

Whether it be ice or inline, beginner or advanced, Akito thinks that skating is one of the best things in any world, which is why he's more than happy to share in the fun.

If Akito were a taller person he would sit down to give the dog more attention, but considering his height (or lack thereof) he stays standing for easier access to the best spots; rubs and massages fingers into fur with careful pressure.

"I only fall if I want to," he answers easily, catching the package with a little difficulty. A moment later and he's tucking it away carefully into his bag. "I won't need to use extra caution with this delivery, ne?"

"Unless the market spontaneously bursts into flames you'll be fine," Hawke says with a smirk. Then he thinks about it for a moment. After half the city exploded not long ago maybe that's not as unlikely as he says. "You know what? Forget I said that."

Akito can't help but stifle a small laugh at that. "I'll make sure to avoid the fire sector then, ne?"

Hawke snorts in response. "Or just anything that can burn easily." Their business is concluded for the most part but Hawke's in no hurry to leave. It's good to be out in the fresh air. Plus he wants to know how Akito's managing.

"So how are you feeling? Can't have you sick while I'm not there to drag you to a healer."

"Excluding tobacco and letters, of course," he jokes, though it brings to mind his lighter, and he figures it would be a good thing to inform Hawke of. "I carry a lighter with me, so I can burn anything important if I ever get caught. If you ever have a package like that for me you'll let me know, ne? That way I can keep it super secure!"

As for Hawke's question, Akito isn't exactly lying when he answers. "I'm okay. My shoulder is still a bit sore, but it would be weird if it wasn't!"

Everything else he's feeling he can attribute to being lonely and homesick, and so it doesn't warrant mentioning.

Hawke hasn't got a clue what I lighter is but from the name and Akito's explanation he makes a sound guess that it's something that burns things. It's good to see the kid is prepared for anything though. He'll make sure to remember that.

"Just how underhanded do you think I am?" He gives Akito a playful smirk. "It's just a simple drop off. Nothing to worry about." He'll leave the more dangerous drops for himself and Nilin.

"Good, then I won't have to deal with Quintus screaming in my ear at the middle of the night that you've suddenly passed out." Because that's totally his only concern. Yep.

"As underhanded as you need to be." Akito isn't so naive as to think that there aren't foreigners just as dangerous as the cultists, though he's sure that Hawke isn't a danger to him (if only because Quintus would likely have a fit if he were). "The security measures I've come up with are meant to keep packages away from Mister M, since that's why I started the whole thing in the first place!"

In his mind it is literally the least he can do, apart from nothing whatsoever. He isn't about to cotton on as to just how capable he is (or was - he hasn't tried fighting since it's been just him on his own, and hasn't fought for himself since Agito came into his life), which leaves his options fairly limited.

"If I ever suddenly pass out, it shouldn't be a surprise to Quintus at all."

Smart kid. Hawke nods his head before grinning. "If I want to get his attention you can be sure I'll get it myself." He never has trouble getting the attention of powerful beings that would just love to kill him. That being said, he's not sure if the creatures from Thedas are on the same level as Mally.

"A comment like that makes me worry about your hobbies kid," Hawke says with a snort.

"I don't have any hobbies," he jokes. "I just work and train."

"And a comment like that makes me worry about your mental health," Hawke replies though his tone is clearly jesting. Of course when Hawke was that age he was in the King's army already. That didn't keep him from having a bit of fun though.

"I've been functionally insane since I was very small!" He would like to say he was joking, but technically most people would consider him mentally ill, even if that isn't really the case. "Training by yourself is the next best thing to training with friends."

"I've been called that once or twice." For good reason admittedly. Many of his accomplishments would make a normal man go pale. The company he normally keeps doesn't help his case either. At least his dog is normal...mostly.

"On that I think I'll just take your word. How many people have you taught here?"

"Ah... Only a few." You could count them all on one hand, but Akito was grateful for every one of them. "They all either wanted to just try it out, ne? Or were too scared to continue after the attacks."

Now, with a supplementary income from delivering things, he should at least be able to start affording regular supplies.

"So business isn't quite as booming?" Hawke thinks on that for a moment and gets the workings of an idea. Maybe there's more than one way he can give Akito a hand with things.

"Try going to the Welcome Center when I do one of my shows. Lots of children there needing something to do and if you distract them with your twirling then maybe they'll stop climbing on me."

"It would have been doing better if the explosions waited a little while, I think." He hopes, though admittedly still doesn't think of himself highly enough to believe that. What Hawke says next catches Akito by surprise - he hadn't realized that there were fun things at the Welcome Center. Let alone that Hawke was providing at least one of them.

"Shows?"

"Sort of story telling for the kids. My stories." Hawke sticks his foot out and bumps Notch with the tip of his boot. "His too, though admittedly those aren't as exciting."

In response to that Notch turns his head and sneezes at Hawke. Hawke skips back a step chuckling. "There's a lot of anxious kids looking for an outlet from..." He looks around and waves his hand in a wide but vague gesture. "All of this."

Akito tilts his head, both curious and amused by their antics. He holds out a hand to Notch again, offering more affection if he chooses it. "I didn't peg you as the sort of person who would tell your stories," he admits, unashamed. "I don't know where my skating would fit into storytelling, but if you want to keep the kids occupied you could get volunteers to act out some parts of your stories."

At Hawke's gesture he deflates somewhat. Right. This place.

Hawke shrugs his shoulders casually. "I'm not exactly the person who would keep them secret either." Though the kids get a heavily edited version of all his adventures. Normally Varric handles all the storytelling but unfortunately his old friend isn't here to do so.

"It doesn't need to fit in with the stories. Just be around and do your thing. Get their attention. If you're lucky maybe it'll give both them and you something to do." Kids need to have other things to do than worry about the state of their city. They need to play.

"You'll have to tell me a good one sometime then," Akito says, intrigued. "Me and Quintus!" Because Quintus always loves a good story, and if he hasn't heard any of them yet Akito knows the hatchling would love it.

"I can find things to do without being an entertainer." He doesn't sound offended, because he isn't. Just matter-of-fact, and maybe just a bit teasing. "But if you need back-up I guess I can try it."

That's not quite what Hawke was getting at but if Akito doesn't want to try things at the Welcome Center then Hawke won't push him. He seems to have a handle on this delivery service anyway. "Don't worry, I've got plenty of backup there."

"If you want to catch some of the stories just bring Quintus with you down to the Welcome Center. I'm feeling back to my old self again so shows should be happening again soon."

"Send Quin-kun a message when you're going to have a show, ne? Then he can tell me too, and we'll go together!"

Akito isn't keen on doing anything at the Welcome Center himself until he knows more about the place, and while he has wanted to check it out properly before, he also hadn't wanted to go alone. It makes him realize, quite suddenly, that he considers Hawke someone that he trusts - as much as he trusts anyone on Keeliai.

"Between my show and Quintus showing up I think the kids will have a day to remember." He's never actually brought Quintus to the Welcome Center with him but he sees people's reactions to Quintus whenever he brings the turtle baby through town.

Not for the first time Hawke wonders how he surrounded himself with so many kids, both kedan and Foreigner. He doesn't find himself hating it though, not in the least.

"Are there many children here?" Akito has seen a few here and there, but he also knows he hasn't been around as much as he could have been. And with everything that's been going on, the children are probably kept under close watch.

Hawke shrugs his shoulders casually. "As many as there would be in any city I suppose. I have a hard enough time keeping track of the ones I know." It's hard to count them when they're dog-piling on him, sometimes with his own dog even.

"I think they just like they beard," he says as he strokes his hairy chin. "Must remind them of a stuffed animal."
