Situation: A very late "Memorial Day" barbecue, bring your own beef!
Warnings/Rating: N/A. C'mon, it's a barbecue.

[There's two grills, one for meat, one for veggies. (We don't want our vegetarians getting cross-contamination, now do we?) They're pretty basic, just some wood-burning open barrels with grills over top. Feel free to come on by, bring some food to share around, and hang out with your friends. Or glare across the way at your enemies! We're all good here.]

That's what he does best. He has an Olympic medal in the 100 meter lurk.

[She giggles, trying very hard not to look directly at Derek.]

I guess it's just his way of looking out for you.

Remind me sometime to tell you the story of when he smacked my head into the steering wheel of my jeep.

[He laughs along with her, and snakes one of the desserts she brought, taking a bite while he works.]

[She gasps, covering her mouth with her free hand, but then it just dissolves into giggles again.]

He didn't really do that, did he?

Ooooh yes he did.

But then I also made him take off his shirt to show off to a friend of mine, so I kinda had it coming.

[She shakes her head.]

You're terrible.

I know. But I'm cute, too.

Mm. Maybe just a little bit.

Just a little? Again, all these blows to my fragile ego, I don't think I'll ever recover.

You wanna burger, honey?

[She's just grinning at him.]

I'd love one.

[He slides a finished burger off the grill and onto a bun-looking thing. It's a little chewier than the buns he's used to back home, but it'll do.]

There's lettuce and stuff over on the picnic table over there, if you want.

[She looked at him curiously.]

Have you eaten anything? I mean, besides the pie you just took?

I'll eat in a bit. Gotta watch the food first.
