Housewarming, housebreaking

Date: June 26th, when they get home for the day

Situation: New flatmate is a disney princess

When Zatanna Zatara, Jack Frost, or Armin Arlert get home on the 26th - at whatever point they individually get home - they will find much the same situation each time. All the lower floor windows are open and a rather large gathering of the local wildlife (birds mostly) have congregated within the lower level living space. What furniture is around may have a surprise sitting on it in the form of birds, rodents, or their droppings from when they were there earlier. And crumbs.

Lots of crumbs.

Crumbs being fought over at times.

If the kitchen is inspected, it seems that all the bread in the house is gone. All of it. Anything with bread on it, has been stripped of it's breading and the remains carefully packed back up. The rest of the food has not been raided as of yet.

This small avian army with the random ground support seems to be concentrated outside the formerly empty upper bedroom, which also is now softly lit from within. Should this oddity be followed up on, they will find their new flatmate sitting on the floor next to his new bed, quietly passing out breaded crumbs to the animals gathered there. Somehow enforcing rules of fairness and sharing with his soft smile and murmured words that everyone should share because there was plenty for everyone.

"She did seem really happy to see me," He grinned as he started trying to gather the wild animals together so they could be shooed out the door or one of the windows. It was mostly unsuccessful. They wanted what food he could offer them again.

"She's really friendly and was very insistent that I come visit her right away. Even though it took me a while to find her, when I did, she nearly smothered me with her head. She's so big!"

[strategisch]

"They really don't understand how large they are," he replies, laughing a little, "the Captain has nearly crushed me on more than one occasion when he wanted a cuddle. He's destroyed so many flowerbeds during our walks around the sector, trying to get a better look at a certain plant. Things like that. It's never-ending!"

[raavashing]

Wan winced sympathetically, "They wander around a lot, then? It's good to know they're active, if nothing else. Do they ever swim along side the Great Turtle?"

[strategisch]

"There's not much you can do to stop them! But yes. I believe they swim occasionally, but not very far out, or else they might leave Asti's protective barrier. Then they'd be vulnerable to the Enemy."

[raavashing]

Wan nodded, understanding the risk there, "Right. But they do get to swim with the Great Turtle. That's important if they're going to grow up to be as big as he is. They should get used to swimming."

[strategisch]

"You are quite good with animals. I think you'll make an excellent parent."

[raavashing]

Wan blushed just a little, looking away and feeling quite put on the spot, "Ah... thanks. We should, um... start really cleaning up. Or I should. If you want to go, to your room or out, or you know... I'll take care of it. Really. It's okay."

[strategisch]

Armin's smile falters a little, "I'm sorry, was that too forward? I tend to run at the mouth sometimes."

[raavashing]

"No. It's okay. I've just never been a parent before," he continued, voice still faltering a little. He also wasn't used to being complimented by other humans. Even the spirits took a convincing before most of them were happy enough with him to say nice things about him. The year with Raava had been the same. Getting them so freely was a very new feeling.

"You... you're fine. Talking. Like you have been."

[strategisch]

"It's not so very hard," he says, trying to be encouraging, "I was nervous at first too, but for being such powerful beings, they really are like children. All they want is your time, your attention... I find that simple acts of affection mean as much to them as the grandest reconciliations of love. And I'm sure you have some way to offer them protection as well."

[raavashing]

"I think that's about all I can offer," he laughed disparagingly at himself. "Time, attention, and protection. I don't exactly have anything else. So it's good to know they'll be happy with that. But I've found most spirits and creatures are happy with that. From my experience, it's usually humans that want more."

[strategisch]

"Very true. We can be greedy and selfish, but I don't think they are capable of such sentiments..."

"But really, don't worry. You'll do well. Just give it your best, and you should be fine."

[raavashing]

"Thanks." Wan was still a bit embarrassed, but he wasn't feeling as self-conscious as he started to herd some of the birds toward a window. "I really should get started on this, though. And it's really okay if you want to leave it to me."

[strategisch]

"No, I'll help," he gets a broom out of their cupboard, "I'd feel silly just letting you do all the work, and I find it kind of relaxing."

[raavashing]

"Great. You start sweeping, and I'll work on getting the rest of these guys out of here," he said with a mock-salute before helping a bird out. Unless Armin chose to continue the conversation, Wan was content to work in silence.
