Tony hasn't been quite his usual outgoing, confident self since arriving in Keeliai. Between his jarring arrival, the lack of the friends and family that he depends on so much, the drama with Gene, and the general unsettling nature of the entire situation, he's been finding it a little hard to settle in. But he's gotten his lab set up - a very important first step - and he's starting to get a handle on things.
The more he sees and learns of Tu Vishan and his fellow conscripts, the more curious he gets. He'll be very interested in any advanced technology any of the foreigners might have brought with them, and he's also intrigued by - though a little wary of - the different kinds of magic that so many people wield. He has a special interest in the mechanics of how the foreigners get here and how they get sent back.
Although he's been dumped into the middle of a war full of the kinds of secrets and subtle politics that normally go over his head, he's definitely caught on that there's something fishy afoot with Evandau. Being naturally inquisitive and, uh... straightforward, it's certainly possible that he'll soon get himself into trouble.

Frank;
The blackened casualties of several attempts at making toast are scattered across the counter. Tony's clothes are rumpled and dirty (he's still wearing them because they're currently the only clothes he has), and he looks like he hasn't slept well. His hair is sticking up in all directions, and it's obviously an "I don't have a brush" hairstyle rather than "artfully messy."
All in all, Tony Stark is not having a great morning.

Judging by the plain bread, he's found him. "Uh... hi. I'm Frank?"

So, welcome to the turtle then Tony. Do you have any questions about the turtle?
no subject
I've got about a million questions, but the only one I care about right now is: is there coffee on this turtle?

But were you serious? About the breakfast-cooking robot? Because that wouldn't be overkill that would be outright amazing.
RELEASE THE BREAKFAST BOTS
[Frank actually sounds thrilled at the idea of a breakfast-cooking contraption. Tony immediately decides that he likes him.
Looking gravely at his new roommate, Tony says,] Dude. Robotics is what I do. If you give me the go-ahead, I will absolutely make a breakfast bot.
WHAT COULD GO WRONG
The 'go-ahead'? Consider this me basically begging you to make them. Or cooking robots in general, if you're feel up to the dare. Actually, have you asked people in general if they'd like one? I mean, simple cooking robots are pretty popular back at home so if you manage to do one here you might end up rich.
ABSLOUTELY NOTHING, THIS IS A 100% GOOD AND REASONABLE IDEA
Oh, it's on. [He's already sketching out blueprints in his head.] I mean, I just got here, so I haven't talked to a lot of people yet, but if there's an untapped market for breakfast bots, I'll do what I can to satisfy the needs of the people. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, [he declares with mock seriousness.]
/o/ HELL YES
[And it's when he says it out loud that Tony's age clicks. Being around Leo and people like him has kind of screwed his idea of how young people must be to do certain things, but not everyone is a demigod. So a little explanation is required..] Are you some kind of super genius?
no subject
Breakfast bots are just beginner stuff, [he says dismissively.] You can get an automatic pancake maker from a middle-school robotics club. [A beat. His smile widens.] ...But yeah, I'm totally a supergenius. Which reminds me: before you walk in there and freak out, the power armor standing creepily in the living room is mine.
no subject
'Power armor'?
tony no
Tony's about to explain, when he has a better idea.
Which usually means: a really bad idea. His grin turns sly, and a few seconds later, the Iron Man armor tromps into the kitchen, stops in front of Frank, and waves.]
tony yes
Wait, that’s the armor? That’s yours? [Leo flashbacks intensifies.]
why do you encourage this
Whoa there, Robin Hood, take it easy. [He gets up from his chair and goes to stand beside the armor, putting a hand on its metal shoulder.]
Frank, meet the Mark II Stark International Mutli-Environment Exoskeleton.
because it's fun!
...Can I call him Mark for short?
you're such a bad influence
8DDD
That must be cool. Being inside of it, I think. What does it do? Like an armor?
no subject
It is so cool. And it does just about everything. Super-strength and durability, of course. It flies, it has every kind of sensor and scanner I could cram into it, it's got an advanced onboard computer system that I can use to hack just about anything; full life support, repulsors, flamethrower, rocket launcher, sonic cannons, force fields, magnetic field generation - you name it. I can even take it into space.
no subject
You've been to space?!
On trial. Guilty. Of being in space! Going to space jail!
Tony looks unbelievably smug.] Yep. It's only really good for low-earth orbit, until I figure out teleportation or faster-than-light travel, but I've been to space a bunch of times.
Space space wanna go to space yes please space. Space space. Go to space.
[He's... He's actually talked to literal aliens and superheroes and atlanteans. He isn't really sure why this is so exiting but it is- maybe because it's a normal Earth kid that's managed all these things only with his intelligence.]
You're a real wonder, Mark buddy. [He pats the armor as he would a friend, as if it were actually listening.]
Orbit. Space orbit. In my spacesuit.
Well, not really an astronaut. I don't work for NASA or anything. I just borrow their satellites sometimes, [he jokes, chuckling.]
You know the "mark" is just a designation, right? Like "version" or "model." [Though the idea of giving the armor some totally mundane name like "Mark" is kind of funny.]
Dad, are you space?
[He tilts his head.] I’m sure you’ll be really useful in this place. I flopped around like a fish when I first got here.
Yes. Now we are a family again.
And I am getting pretty good at averting apocalypses. Guess that's why they wanted me. [It sounds like he meant for that to come out sounding cocky, but couldn't quite manage it. For the first time, his smile is a little bit less than completely genuine.]
