Notes: This is a free for all log, so feel free to handwave the training and just interact with the other characters, or Akito, at a particular lesson/training session. Make sure to include which week your tag takes place in! Seriously - go nuts!


Beginner's Self-Defense
- Location: Wood Sector
- Days: Mon/Wed/Fri
- Time: 7:00am - 11:00am

Akito promised he would have training for beginners, and he isn't about to back out of something so important. The first month of training will be spent learning basic punching and kicking techniques, and practicing agility. It's important to know your body and it's limits, so you know when you can push them. He will also be very strict about injury prevention.

(open to Ryou, Enjorlas, and any other characters who want to start learning basic self defense techniques. he will eventually work up to teaching some simple knife skills.)



Advanced Group
- Location: Wood Sector
- Days: Mon/Wed/Fri
- Time: 2:00pm - 4:00pm

He hasn't organized this in an effort to teach, but merely for the more skilled fighters on Keeliai to meet each other and discuss their techniques, and have the opportunity to spar with each other.



Taint Detecting
- Location: Anton's Hotel
- Days: Tues/Sat (starting 10/03/14)
- Time: 8:00am - 2:00pm

Thanks to Solomon's notes and lesson outlines, Akito does his best to teach the skill he's learned to others. Whether or not he's successful is up for debate, since he can't quite reproduce Karanea's exact lessons.

He'll be very strict about not causing a mess for Anton, since his hotel still hasn't completely recovered from its recent damage.



Hatchling Defense
- Location: Wherever the hatchling in question is located.
- Days: Varies between Tues/Wed/Sat
- Time: 3:00pm - 6:00pm Tues/Sat & 8:00am - 11:00am Sat

If any of the turtle hatchlings want to learn some self-defense, Akito will do his best to accommodate them. He doesn't know much about how a turtle would be able to fight, but he'll focus on them using their size to their advantage, and stress that they should never be afraid to bite someone who is trying to harm them.



Bending Training
- Location: Wood Sector
- Days: Sun
- Time: 8:00am - 12:00pm

Akito doesn't expect Zuko or Wan to show up, but he's hoping the other Benders he's contacted will come to train with him, and each other. He knows a good fighting technique that requires both air and fire elements - one that he, Agito, and Kazu had used before to great effect - and hopes he can pass it along successfully.

Since training will end at noon, he'll make sure to take the time to make lunch for everyone who turns up.

"The only cool thing about it is getting to help people, but you don't need to be a hero to do that." Being a hero means suffering loss. Yoshitsune was a hero - sacrificing himself to save Kyoto from destruction. Benkei-san lost her leg, and her partner. Spitfire lost his life. Ine-san lost Spitfire. Gazelle lost her life. Kaito lost the love of his life. Too much loss, all to stop greedy beings who want to cause others pain.

Akito pushes all of that aside for now and focuses on what's important: "The quicker we can get the network set up, the quicker things can progress, and the quicker we can go back home."

PLATONIC cuddles

Yikes. That sounds like kind of a strong stance on the nature of heroism for someone as young as Akito looks. Is that a whiff of Tragic Backstory he's picking up?

"Okay, maybe it's just cool for me because I get to do it in an awesome suit of power armor," Tony jokes, still trying to lift Akito's spirits. Will this backfire? Probably.

But Akito is right: they should get cracking. There'll be plenty of time to talk while they work. He plops the box down on the table and starts unloading it.

In Akito's mind there's nothing cooler than Air Trecks, and he's seen suits of power armour before that were pretty cool. He doesn't know what kind Tony means though. "Exoskeleton or full-body?"

He eyes the box with interest, wondering what sort of supplies the other boy managed to collect in his time on Asti's back.

100% platonic cuddles guaranteed. he is just very cuddly

Oh, no, Akito, now you've distracted him!

Tony grins widely: the happiest expression he's worn all day. "Want to see it?"

too bad there are no cats or dogs on the turtle perfect cuddle therapy for everyone :c

Akito starts to nod but quickly shakes his head, knowing better. "I do, but then we probably won't get anything else done."

schoolbus-sized turtles are not very cuddly, unfortunately

"Yeah, Right." Tony laughs sheepishly, trying to hide the fact that he's a little disappointed. But Akito's right. He can show off later.

He grabs a couple pieces of scrap paper and a pencil, and starts rapidly sketching, copying Akito's own schematics, adding in more detail and several modifications. "So, I'll work on this, and if you can start here..."

There are now appropriate tools and supplies strewn all over the table, and Tony's diagrams are complex but precise, so Akito should be able to follow along.

Admittedly, Akito is disappointed as well, but hides it. As much as he would love to see interesting technology, there are more important things to be done. He does his best to start building what he can to Tony's specifications, though is also curious about what Tony is altering in the schematics he brought along with him.

While they work, Tony tries to make small talk. Well— he is genuinely interested, so does that still count as small talk? He doesn't know much about Akito, and he's curious how such a tiny little kid got roped into this mess.

"So, is engineering your thing? Or do you have some kind of cool magic or superpower?"

so science. many genius.

"Ah... Um, no. I like mechanics and applied physics, so I learned a lot about it whenever I could." When the reason you were still alive was a pair of finely-tuned motorized roller blades, learning how to build and repair them just came naturally.

"What about you?"

very invent. wow.

"Me? Well, mostly I'm just a genius." He gives Akito a lopsided grin. "But I do have some nanotech in my body that makes me stronger and healthier." He taps his chest. "My heart used to be pretty messed up, and that's what fixed it. It also lets me mentally interface with almost any kind of digital technology. That one's not so useful here." He rolls his eyes, lamenting the state of technology in Keeliai. "But I can still interface with my armor, at least."

Akito takes what Tony says into consideration. While he wouldn't want any technology inside of his body himself, he does think that's pretty damn cool. "I don't think there's nanotech that advanced in my world," he offers after a moment. "There was human experimentation to create bodies that were more efficient with energy consumption, but their bodies were purely organic."

"Hm," Tony says thoughtfully. Human experimentation saved his life and made Captain America, but... generally, it's not a term with very nice implications.

"Did it work?"

A shrug, and he focuses his gaze on his hands; watching his gangly hands build something without really seeing. "It... wasn't cost-effective enough, so the project was shut down. There were a lot of successful subjects though."

Something in Akito's voice gives Tony pause. He looks over at the other boy.

"How many of those subjects actually signed up for these experiments?

[akito]

"They couldn't sign up for the experiments because they were the experiments," he answers after a moment's pause. "It would have been done on embryos."

"Damn." Tony pauses in his work. Experimenting on embryos and growing custom humans from scratch - that's definitely on the really ugly side of human experimentation.

"That's... messed up." And really, what else is there to say about it?

It's just how things were where he was from. Shit happened. Shit sucked. But you found the good that came out of it all. "A lot of them became my good friends."

And a lot of them were forced to be his enemies.

"Were you—" one of them? Tony stops, realizing that he may have wandered into delicate territory. "Sorry, I didn't... You don't have to talk about it."

Akito can guess what he was going to ask, and it's easy enough to answer. "It's fine. I wasn't a Gravity Child, no."

Tony looks relieved. "That's good. Not that having super-human abilities is bad - I mean, Extremis has definitely been awesome, but I did it to myself. I knew what I was doing. I knew that there were some serious risks." He absolutely had no idea what the fuck he was doing. He shakes his head. "People should be able to choose that kind of thing. Not be... grown for it. For experiments."

"I never said I wasn't an experiment," Akito offers, after quite a substantial pause wherein he busied himself with finishing up the outer shell of a walkie-talkie.

Oh. [AWKWARD SILENCE.] Uh. Sorry...

[Tony rubs the back of his neck, obviously embarrassed. He chuckles weakly.] Jeez. I'm as bad as Pepper.

Akito isn't familiar with Pepper as a name rather than a spice, and so shoots Tony a somewhat confused look. "...As opposed to salt?"

[Tony chuckles.] Oh, no, Pepper's one of my friends back home. She's awesome, but she can be a little... overenthusiastic? when she's curious. The first time we ever talked, she grilled me about my dead parents and the plane crash I almost died in.

[Just be glad you only have Tony accidentally asking you tactless questions, Akito, instead of Pepper tactlessly interrogating you.]

"Oh," he says simply. Not so long ago he might have been the same way. "Some people have trouble with that kind of thing."
