Possession is 9/10 of the law

Situation: Wan is attempting to possess Asti; others are acting as distractions/helping power boost
Warnings/Rating: Will post them in subject lines when/if needed

The log is going to be broken up between the following Event 'points' just to manage them easier:

Pre-Possession Power-Up (Mingle for those powering up Wan before his group heads to the Turtle's Head)
Pre-Distraction Meet-Up (Mingle for the distraction teams to finalize tactics or throw caution to the wind)
Possession Attempt (The actual possession attempt)
Distraction Group One (Headed up by Dante, this group is going to be dealing with the cultists directly)
Distraction Group Two (Network distraction group and/or different group of cultists)
End of the Day (for people to deal with the fallout of the event if they want to do so in this log)

ANYONE can tag in and take part in any of the threads except the Possession Attempt itself - that's closed to Wan, Valdis, Zuko, and Katara so the group is small and less easily noticed.

"Yeah. I've been doing the Iron Man thing for a while, I can handle myself. And the guys I go up against are usually packing a lot more than knives and arrows. Well— one guy uses arrows, but they're sometimes explosive, so I don't know if that counts."

"Their weapons suck, but it'll make your life miserable if you managed to get hit. I'm sure you've heard about the poison they carry around?" Dante double-checked. "Otherwise, that just about covers everything."

"I didn't really see it in action, but I heard about the poison. But unless those knives are made of vibranium, they're going to have a hard time getting through the armor." Tony smirks. There's plenty of things Malicant or his minions could pull on him that would throw him for a loop, but knives aren't one of them. Cursed or not.

"Then that just about covers it." He nodded. "Unless you've got any ideas. Because honestly just trying to get folks was a pain in the ass."

"Yeah, not a very impressive turnout." Tony looks around, but there's nobody else approaching the hotel yet. "Is there an all-clear signal? How are we gonna know when to call it a day?"

"I told everyone I could, but I guess everyone's helping with the main event."

Dante simply shrugs at that question. "Well, either the big bad's going to come out, or the folks we're supposed to be helping will be running past us."

"Great," Tony says dryly. "Glad to hear we've got all the details worked out."

Like he's one to judge. 'Shoot stuff till something happens' summarizes about 80% of his plans.

"So, you know I've got power armor - what's your thing?" He gestures at Dante's general person. "If we're the only ones who are going to show, what are we working with?"

He hadn't really gotten to see Dante in action during the Palace exploration. He's not sure what kind of powers the guy has.

"Better this then some overbearing military commander, right?" Shooting stuff until something happens just works so well, though.

"Well..." Dante started to wander outside. He knew he'd get thrown out instantly if he did what he was about to do within the hotel.

"I have a few years of experience on the battlefield." He took out one of his pistols and casually shot a pine cone off of a tree, then shot the same pinecone before it landed with the other pistol.

When that falls to the ground, he quickly switches to a clawed backpack, leaps into the air, and starts to hit another two with bright red summoned swords. "I like to try and learn new tricks when I can, but..."

He lands gracefully While the swords give off small explosions, he grabs his claymore, and leaps once again, cutting a small branch down. "I do have my favorites."

He likes showing off.

"Not bad," Tony says, pretending to be unimpressed. "But I hope you can use those moves on tougher opponents than helpless pine trees."

Those were some pretty sweet maneuvers, there - and the magic red spikes are really something. But Tony can't resist some friendly ribbing.

"Well, if they put up too much of a fight I can always scare them with big scientific sounding words." He knows that it's just friendly ribbing, and dishes it right back out.

Tony keeps a totally straight face.

"Try 'stoichiometry' and 'bilunabirotunda' and 'zitterbewegung'. I've seen those make people run screaming from a room."

"I really hope those are words you just made up." Though they aren't.

"Well, if that matters settled, we better decide who's going where."

"Oh, I've got more. Those aren't even the worst ones." But they do still have business to get down to, so he lets the joke lie for now.

"I can go anywhere you want me. The cultists aren't going to be able to do much to me with knives, so I can run defense if anybody without armor needs backup."

"From what I understand, that's just about everyone on this turtle." Dante explained.

"Isn't there anybody who can make..." he waves his handa vaguely, "magic force fields or something? Mutants with impervious skin? Does anyone even have regular armor? There's got to be a couple people here with defensive abilities."

"I have a few tricks up my sleeve in case things go wrong." Dante left that intentionally vague. "But otherwise, sounds like we're relying on healers to take care of that kind of thing."

"So instead of not getting stabbed, we're counting on healers to fix people after they get stabbed. Well, there's no way that could go wrong. I think somebody should have told Eshai and Evandau that you're not supposed to load your party with glass cannons and skimp out on tanks."

Currently, the best tank on the field (aka the Mandarin, bearer of the Lisa Frank Costume Jewelry of Ultimate Cosmic Power) is on console duty, loading up the virus that Tony had given him. In retrospect, this may have been a tactical error.

"I never said that. But most of the folks here rely on being evasive. Besides, considering how good Evanadu was at his job, it's a miracle most of us can fight."

If basically anyone but Dante (Aka the idiot who keeps getting away with being utterly reckless because of his smarter friends and daddy's demonic powers) had been in charge, such tactical errors could have been avoided. But as it stands, it's a miracle that other people have even shown up.

Evasive, sure. "All right." Tony gives a 'well if people want to go and get themselves stabbed, that's their business' shrug. He'll do what he can and he'll help when he's asked to, but he's not anybody's babysitter.

"If everyone else is already doing their own thing and nobody's going to show up here, then I guess we're teaming up."

If they didn't come to the planning meeting, presumably they think they've already got everything under control. Hopefully they're right. Good luck on those evasive maneuvers, everybody.

"Guess so. I'm sure someone else could use your help more, but then they should have shown up." Yep, those evasive maneuvers are going to work out great. There is no way that this could go horribly wrong.
