[Closed] Live free or die; and all I can ask is why
Characters: North and York
Date: Now
Location: York's residence
Situation: North has just arrived and is feeling lost and lonely since he's arrived without his AI, and doesn't quite remember what happened in his final moments before he was transported to Tu Vishan.
Warnings/Rating: None
[He wasn't familiar with the city, but luckily once he'd found his way out of his sector, he found that York's apartment wasn't far. This was definitely a different sort of area than the area where he'd been placed. He had kept an eye out for shops, since it seemed weird to arrive as a guest empty-handed, but then realized he'd left his juulan at home. He really was still suffering from the effects of waking up in the sea.
He had to content himself, in the end, with the fact that he'd arrived in a fairly timely manner, and he knocked on the door of what he hoped was the correct place.]

i'm cry
He normally would have thanked her or even teased her for her remark, but the troubled feeling was growing like an ice ball in his gut and he wrapped one hand around the clenched fist of the other and held them against his lips. He was slowly but steadily losing a battle with his own grief. ]
;n;
[ It aches, seeing him like this-- he's one of the few people here that York knows has his back and there's nothing he can do to have it in return.
He shifts, placing his hand on North's shoulder, and just holds it there for the time being. ]
D:
Here. Numbs the pain, at least for a little while.
[ or at least, it does for her. why else is she an alcoholic? ]

I'm sorry, man; I know I'm not myself.
no subject
No one can blame you.
now sleeep
Re: now sleeep
[ He doesn't want to make the other man uncomfortable, and doesn't want him to have to come be social when he's not feeling it. ]

[ York eases to his feet and stands in front of the other man, resting both hands on top of his shoulders, making sure he looks up. ]
Give it a rest, okay? You aren't burdenin' no one.
no subject
It just started hitting me, all at once.

I'm not used to this.
[ He's always the one everyone else leans on. And normally when he really needs someone, he's secretive about it until he can tell South. He and York had been good friends, before, of course, but York had never seen him like this, either. ]
no subject
Yeah, well, you've never had to be. You always got stuck with me n'Wash tripping all over ourselves and then South and Theta--
[ He's hit with a pang of longing so sharp that it aches for a moment, missing Delta all the more right then the more he talks about all of them. He doesn't even know how the others are-- and that's more sobering than anything else. York snags his drink to take a slow swig of it and sets it back down, his good eye focused on North's face. ]
I got your back, okay? S'only fair.
no subject
But what York says is true. He's shouldered other people's cares plenty of times. He shouldn't pull back when others are trying to help him. He was here at York's invitation, after all. ]
Yeah. That's fair. Definitely.
no subject
Friend of York's is a friend of mine, so I've got your back too. Why don't you stay here for a bit, Sasquatch, drink our booze and let me beat your ass in cards? Promise no pink tiaras.
no subject
[ He gestures to the couch, frowning a little. ]
Why don't you crash on our couch for a while? The company'd be nice.
no subject
You're too much, the two of you.
no subject
[ He bumps his shoulder to North's when he settles back in, amused. ]
no subject
That sounds like a story.
no subject
[ York waves a hand with a little laugh. ]

[ York scoots to his feet and heads for the kitchen. ]
Drink refill- you want one?

no subject
You gonna be okay?
[ It's an honest question, his tone low, concerned. ]
