ENDPLOT | ROLL THE BONES, PART 1
Characters: ALL!
Date: Early/Mid November
Location: Under the shell
Situation: It's either Malicant or the Foreigners... and their worlds.
Warnings/Rating: Add warnings as needed.
The Foreigners had begun their counterattack by trying to possess the Great Turtle whom Malicant had taken, and although the movement had failed, some vital information had been uncovered. Under the shell lay Malicant's weakness, and inside the Dreaming was where he could be fought.
Any help from the kedan is uncommon. They're wary, watching, as a group beginning to lose sight of the community. Their family groups are more tightly-knit than ever, and any approach from the Foreigners is answered by suspicion at best and violence at worst. That makes daily life difficult, when the majority of the city refuses to have much to do with them. Why aren't you doing anything? they seem to say. What good are any of you? All you've done is make things worse. We'd be better if you'd never come.
The Foreigners are unwelcome in Keeliai. The cultists are becoming a majority. Now is the time.
There aren't many left of the Foreigners left, but inside the Dreaming the limitations of the waking world no longer exist. For every Foreigner and their worlds, their loved ones, this is the chance to make themselves safe for good. And all of them will be needed.

There are two main headers, one for preparation at the Hotel where Milyn and Eva will be available to speak with The second section where they will be able to search the caves beneath the Shell inside the Dreaming to find the Vilii Stone, and where the boon'd characters will be affected. If you are threading something that doesn't fit one of those categories, just add it to the bottom of the post. Questions go to the plotting post, please! Once the Stone has been acquired the second half of the plot will go live in the logs comm.

"Good point." Dante started to twirl his sword, and donned a rather sadistic smile. "I guess I should go back and tell them all to rest easy. In peace. You think that'll make them feel better?"
Oh yes, that sounds positively perfect. Except it sounds terrible. And not just because that one-liner was awful. He cares about those people. But he needs to kill. He wants to see how many of them put up a good fight before he puts an end to their pathetic little lives.
Can't the people right in front of him fight? That sounds perfect. He'll start with them. Except he should not be doing this at all. He manically starts twirling his sword, and looks towards Tony first. Ah yes, there's a nice and challenging target.
"I haven't gambled in a while. Why don't we play a game right now? Let's see who can rip the other person into tiny shreds first!" Before anyone can respond, he takes a large lunge with his sword, grinning the entire time.

- Damn.
It wasn't that Skulduggery didn't trust Tony to be able to defend himself, especially while wearing that armour. It was only that he wanted to avoid a fight entirely. Some might have argued that firing a shot at Dante's head could easily be classified as 'fighting,' but whoever those people were, Skulduggery already didn't like them.
His aim was unerringly perfect. The bullet headed straight for the centre of Dante's head, compensating for both Dante's movement and considerable speed.
I don't have any adequately shocked and horrified in-armor icons so I will have to cheat
The impact never came, though, because Skul had just SHOT DANTE IN THE HEAD.
Tony let out a horrified cry as Dante collapsed, and then whipped around to face Skul, his hands still up and aimed. This time, though, his repulsors were charged.
"What did you do?!" Tony practically screamed. He had no idea that a headshot wasn't going to keep Dante down for long: as far as he knew, Skul had just straight-up murdered him.
The conclusion Tony immediately came to was that Skul, too, must be possessed.
He honestly didn't have any idea how to incapacitate a reanimated skeleton, but that wasn't going to stop him from trying.
WELL, THAT ESCALATED QUICKLYthis tag was brought to you by the letters WTF and the number Fireball
OH JESUS CHRIST GENE CAN'T LEAVE YOU ALL ALONE FOR THIRTY SECONDS CAN HEWell. Okay.
That sure is a thing. Nobody can see Gene's bewildered face beneath his armor, but rest assured, he is making one.
So, to recap: Dante's dead. Dante is dead as dicks. Dante is so dead we will need an old priest and a young priest to revive him. Dante's head has a hole in it.
Tony's done an acrobatic fucking pirouette off the handle. And Skul is just standing there like it's no big deal he just shot Dante in the face.
For a moment - for just a moment - Gene considers just turning around and going back into the hotel, because ain't nothin' worth this.
"...I missed something, didn't I," he says ruefully.
You're drunk. Go home.
'Dante' simply stood up, dusted himself off, and laughed manically, bullet still jammed in his thick skull. When he was finished laughing, he turned to Skulduggery, and spoke up as he walked towards the skeleton. "I'll give you points for your marksmanship, but I've got some bad news."
He continues by drawing his own pistols, though not without a hint of a trembling. Something was stopping him from firing just yet, but that doesn't mean he isn't going to try."It's gonna take a hell of a lot more then one lousy shot to kill me!"
Come on, shoot me again. I don't have all day. We've got a world-eating demon to kill, you know.

"Skulduggery, I am beginning to think possession has rendered you impotent. That's not how you kill Dante. You need to hit him in the heart."
He lifted Daisy, holding her at the waist, double-checked the shells weren't his maximum damage and fired at Dante's chest at enough of a distance that he wouldn't actually explode the half-demon's chest. Well, not too much anyway, given it was Daisy he was using.

'I shot Dante in the head' didn't quite seem like the appropriate response, at least for the moment. So Skulduggery skipped the dry sarcasm, lowering his gun to point non-threateningly at the cave floor. "He'll survive it," he explained. "And with any luck, it'll be enough of a shock to wake him up."
It wasn't. Dante did stand up a moment later, proving half of Skulduggery's point for him. But he immediately started up with the same smug bragging as before, and the only reason Skulduggery didn't empty the rest of his clip into various organs was Anton's timely arrival with Daisy.
"You didn't mention that part," Skulduggery said, holstering his gun again. "Here I thought practically anything could be killed with a disruption to brain activity. I'm glad Valkyrie isn't here. She would have accused me of lying."
That, or laughed at him, and Skulduggery didn't know which was worse.
"Careful," he told Anton, gesturing at the two teenagers. "You might need to explain why you did that."

So now they were all standing around pointing weapons and Dante was on the ground again and might or might not be actually dead and it was thoroughly unclear who was possessed and who wasn't and for fuck's sake, they'd only been outside the hotel for thirty seconds.
"...Okay, I was definitely not prepared for any of what just happened," Tony declared after a moment of stunned silence. He did sound less panicked, though. Slightly. "Can someone please tell me who is possessed, who is dead, and if anyone still needs to be shot? Because I have no idea what the fuck is going on right now."
Everyone, please raise your hand if you are currently being controlled by an incorporeal chaos monster. Much obliged.
i'm sober now and my tag quality has not changed
"...so is he actually dead, or is he going to get up and monologue at us again?" Gene asked. As if Gene was one to talk on that score. He was sounding a little concerned, though, since, for all his talk, Dante had seemed to be a pretty good fighter, maybe, and he didn't want to be down an asset going into the final battle.
Oh, uh, and the carnage. Yes. The carnage was disturbing him, because he was trying to be normal and not someone who had spent most of his childhood in a wretched hive of scum and villainy.
"Seriously though, what the fuck is happening here?"
As in, still amazing?
With Dante 'dead', he could get to work reclaiming his mind. With that, he did for more than kick the taint out. No, he did the mental plane equivalent of beating the crap out of the taint and telling the taint that if Malicant asks where the bruises came from, it fell off its bike.
It took a good deal longer for him to get back up, but this time he had a quite displeased look. He had nearly been permanently killed, and he didn't even get to be the one who said the awful one-liner. He was lifted back onto his feet by an unknown force, and immediately started speaking again.
"Don't worry. I like to keep my awful speeches short and sweet." This time, he kept a casual stance, and spoke calmly. "Though we should probably skip all that. We've got a stone to grab."

"Skulduggery is dead," Anton said to answer Tony, "no one in the immediate surrounding area is attacking us and therefore not possessed, and I don't believe anyone needs to be shot. Dante will revive momentarily." It was a good thing they were in the Dreaming; hopefully that meant Anton wouldn't have to repair another of Dante's shirts.
Then Dante rose again and Anton did as well, stepping back, one hand on the machete just in case he needed to stab Dante in the heart. But no, apparently the one death was all the man needed, and Anton dropped his hand with a satisfied nod, deactivating Gilgamesh's armour. "There are others who might need help," he said, "but the stone must be our priority as well."

Being in the Dreaming was certainly convenient.
Skulduggery didn't stick around for long, however. Solomon Wreath was going to be compromised as well, and if Skulduggery didn't do something about that, retrieving the stone was going to mean absolutely nothing. For that, he'd need Raine - who also had a boon from Asti, and was probably also going to be possessed.
If Skulduggery wasn't very careful, he was going to start considering fighting allies a favourite hobby of his.

"Cool. Great. Well, that was fun, glad we got to have this little get-together, that totally won't be giving me nightmares for weeks. Maybe next time we could give a warning when we're going to shoot people in the face? Just a heads up. You know, 'hey, this person whose head I'm about to blow off is immortal, so don't freak out.' Just so we can keep straight who is handing out bullet-facilitated brain reboots and who is actually possessed and murdering people."
no subject
"And I think giving warnings before shooting people would kind of miss the point..." Oh, like you're one to talk, Mr. Calls-His-Attacks.
no subject
"Well then, I guess it's a good thing there aren't that many of us to begin with, or this would be one hell of a game of whack-a-mole." This was going to be a lovely little mess. He called his sword back to his side and rolled his eyes. Things always have to be complicated.
you may assume he's out of the thread now!

To Anton, still sarcastically, "thanks for the heads up." Beat. "Wait, your what?" Did he say fangs? Since when does Anton have fangs? Too late, Anton's already started walking away with Skulduggery. Looks like that slightly disturbing mystery will have to wait.
Honestly, though, he's starting to get a little bit perturbed by the fact that, as the past few seconds have demonstrated, he really has no idea what most of the other foreigners' powers are. It's not like they all got together and shared notes in the hotel. Which was, strategically speaking, a pretty serious oversight, actually.
"How did you do that, anyway?" Tony asks Dante, by which of course he means 'how the frickity dickity did you just survive getting swiss-cheesed in your most of you, pal?'
