Extreme Makeover: Keeliai Edition - March Log

Characters: Everyone who's interested in pitching in!
Date: Throughout March, until the 21st
Location: The Palace of Landed Sky and surrounding environs
Situation: Let's tear this bitch down.
Warnings/Rating: Drug addiction/withdrawal references in the Dust threads, most likely

The demolition is now in full swing and will last until late March, largely run by Zanru and the Metalworkers (as part of the deal), though individual Foreigners can be hired to help (and the help would likely be appreciated, as the Foreigners are going to get some of this too). Hired Foreigners will report to Xuiyu, as Zanru herself is too busy to be on-site. Gene can be found helping with the destruction, in his armor more often than not, over the course of the demolition project, and answering questions and taking suggestions from Foreigners and kedan about what to do with the newly freed land.

However, from the 4th to the 11th, there is Dust contamination, which is sickening some of the workers - Foreigner and kedan alike. It's not too much of a hindrance, and the demolition seems to be on track to finish on-schedule, by March 21st.

OOC Note: If you need a big-name NPC, please contact the mods directly! Kedan workers can be NPCed by anyone. If you want Gene specifically, please make a note in the subject line and I will throw him at you! (Also, I apologize for not getting to last month's starters; February got away from me. Please feel free to reuse them!)

In Skulduggery's world, psychic powers were magical powers. How, he wondered, would psychic abilities work in a world where they weren't magical? There was probably some sort of science behind them which Skulduggery didn't have the knowledge to deduce, especially since the man had used his hands instead of any form of telekinesis.

The word 'esper' didn't help, apart from being an interesting play on the concept of ESP.

"What are those abilities, exactly?" Skulduggery asked. "You can reduce the weight of heavy material, that much is obvious. You can also, if I'm remembering correctly, deflect the sun's rays. They don't seem to have very much to do with each other."

Accelerator tilted his head a little, narrowing his eyes at the observations. "They don't 'seem to,' but there is a common factor. My ability has a ton of different possible applications because of that. Why so much interest in the details?" His skepticism was due more to a natural suspicion of anyone who took too much interest. He had spent most of his life being sought after by scientists and researchers because of his ability's vast applications and its potential. Strength wasn't the only reason he was ranked the highest among the Level Fives.

Skulduggery shrugged his bony shoulders. "I'm a detective," he said. "I'm curious about the details of anything I don't understand."

The question itself was a fairly deliberate attempt at changing the subject, Skulduggery knew, which could mean one of far too many things for him to lay down any judgement whatsoever. The man could have been ashamed, or nervous. The explanation might have been too complicated. He might have had a history with betrayal, or he may simply have been a cautious person by nature.

He hadn't, however, specifically said he didn't want questions.

"Applications beyond today?" Skulduggery asked, head tilted to the side. "Active applications, or more passive abilities you don't usually need to think about?"

There was something quaint about a skeleton tilting his head. Its head. Its? His? The voice was clearly male, and the sorcerer seemed to have once been alive as one. What was the protocol for dealing with mere skeletons who had been reanimated and still retained their original mentality? The situation was bizarre enough that he never thought he'd ever have to wonder, however briefly, on such things.

Probably he. Like he cared too much about that sort of shit.

He let out a huff. "All of the above." It was a cop-out answer, but the easiest and quickest way to answer. That much he wasn't unwilling to admit to, even to a detective he knew nothing about. The problem that made him prefer to keep down on how much he revealed was the issue of what the wrong person would do if too much information on his ability fell into the wrong hands. As such, he intended to take careful control of whom he told what.

Skulduggery's tilted head straightened in a wordless expression of surprise. He wasn't sure why he was surprised, other than perhaps growing accustomed to the different versions of magic in Keeliai encompassing only one specific concept. Even if that concept was just 'magic'.

"You don't want to tell me," Skulduggery noted, "and probably because you're being cautious. I respect that. Since you're still answering questions, however, and even answering them honestly, do you mind if I keep asking them?"

"No shit I'm being cautious," he said easily, as though it were the most obvious thing ever. "How annoying will you be if I tell you I do mind versus saying I don't?" It depended on the questions and how much longer he had to deal with this, to be honest.
