{ Scenario #1 }

No matter how much Akito may want to sleep his days away, still hurting from Agito's disappearance despite them both being aware it was likely only temporary, he still has a job to do. With the increase in crime he's noticed an increase in delivery requests from nervous kedan, on top of the requests he's been getting due to the sickness going around. It keeps him too busy to miss home, and he can't even feel guilty about being glad for the increase in business, regardless of the reason why.

There are enough deliveries that he covers only one sector per trip instead of two or three, yet he still finds it enjoyable - it gives him time to see the sights of each district as opposed to rushing through them.




{ Scenario #2 }

Work isn't the only thing that's been keeping Akito busy. Days when delivery requests are few and far between are days he runs his errands, stocking up on supplies to wrap and tie packages, groceries, and any other necessities he needs that week.

He never really purchases too much, though he makes sure to take his time and browse through all of the selections when he has a chance, just in case something catches his eye.




{ Scenario #3 }

If he's not working or running errands, Akito can be found at his apartment working on various things - homework from Callaghan, organizing his business records, or even building anything from basic furniture to complex ornamental pieces out of scraps. Bird keeps him company during these times, singing him songs to keep his mood up, or urging Akito to play games with him.

"A wavelength?" Eiryam repeated, sounding interested. "We use them frequently, to communicate between our domes. You say you heard it underneath the console? Everything I've seen of them indicates they're built into the Great Turtle's body."

[akito]

A firm nod. "There's the wavelength running to the consoles from below, but there's another one under that with a different frequency and rhythm. I can't trace the direction it came from, or what it is though."

It's a relief to be able to finally speak about this to someone familiar with communication frequencies. He'll have to thank Zanru again later for directing him to Eiryam.

"The console frequency sounds like a normal communication frequency, but the other one is deeper, and flows... It sounds almost like waves. It is a nice sound to listen to."

"The first one sounds like the bio-mechanical power source," Eiryam said thoughtfully. "What were you using to listen to the frequencies?"

[akito]

"Un, that's what I thought too. I was hoping to be able to add some sort of wireless router to a console to translate the signal wirelessly..." A helpless, sheepish shrug. "But with the consoles the way they are, it wouldn't be possible."

Eiryam's question initially catches him off guard, Akito not having expected that despite it being logical to ask. "I just use my hearing."

"Even if you solved the bio-mechanical problem, it's doubtful you'd be able to achieve a reliable network that isn't on the lowest band ranges, like the radios use. The atmosphere of Konryu is saturated with electromagnetic radiation, so almost all the natural EM bands have been rendered inert."

Eiryam waits, looking at Akito skeptically, as if to say, no really, what were you using?

[akito]

Akito pulls a very professional disgusted face. "That's super annoying."

But Akito will return Eiryam's skeptical look with a confused one of his own until it clicks that he doesn't believe his hearing is that keen. "You don't have to believe me, but that doesn't make it any less true."

"Now it's super annoying," Eiryam replied. "When it happened, it was devastating. Why do you think all of my people live in protective domes? We were among the most susceptible to its effects."

He shrugged a little. "But, what can you do? There's no satellite system left, so even the artificial carrier waves are gone."

Eiryam laughed at Akito's claim. "If you don't want to tell me, then don't."

[akito]

"Is it still the same strength that it was originally, or has it weakened over time?"

Suddenly the disparity in technology makes much more sense, but that's a thought for another time - right now he still needs to get some answers about the strange sound. "It's not that I don't want to tell you. I already have. It's just a matter of you not believing it," he rubs his face with a hand, frustrated that he can't think of how to prove he isn't lying. "If there was a way to prove it to you, I would gladly do so."

"Oh, it's much less than what it was," Eiryam agreed, "but it's also been centuries. I'm not sure you can wait it out, for this particular project."

[akito]

A shake of the head. "No, not really. Even if I could wait, I wouldn't want to."

But that still doesn't answer the question of the wavelength he heard under the console network. Or does it? He doesn't think so, but it can't hurt to ask. "Would the atmospheric radiation be the cause of a wavelength running so deep under the shell?"

[cherrywood]

Eiryam considers that for a moment, but then shakes his head. "I wouldn't think so," he said. "Although without hearing it, I couldn't be sure. I suppose the next step would be to get a recording of it from a console."

[akito]

"It wasn't coming from the console, but underneath it." At least, he thinks that it was? "Could a recording still be taken from the console?"

[cherrywood]

"The consoles are a direct line into the 'power grid' that the Turtle provides, right?" Eiryam smiled. "It'd be the most logical place to start, at least. I have time right now, if you do. Shall I get my tools from my room?"

[akito]

"Un, yeah, that's what I've heard." He nods, offering a small smile in return. "I have time right now. Do you need help carrying your tools?"

[cherrywood]

"Oh, they're not heavy. I'll get them and be back shortly," Eiryam replied. He stands and disappears upstairs again, and returns about five minutes later, carrying a small satchel over one shoulder.

"Where was the console you were listening to before?" he asked.

[akito]

Akito waits patiently for Eiryam to return. The question is one he had expected, so he already has an answer at the ready: "I listened to consoles in every sector, and it seems like it's present under all of them."

Eiryam considers that, checking his tools. "Well, let's find someone to volunteer one who might not mind if something goes wrong. Something in the Metal Sector, so at least if it needs to be replaced, I can report it to the Metalworkers."

[akito]

"Do you think that something will go wrong?" He understands it's always important to be prepared, but it's also nice to have a general idea of how likely it is that things are going to explode.

"But I'm familiar with the Metal Sector, and the Metalworkers. It shouldn't be too hard to find someone willing to loan us their console! And I can offer discounted services for them as a thank-you bonus."
