[CLOSED]

Characters: Bakura, Genis, Raine, Solomon
Date: May 11th, onward?
Location: Midnight Hotel, other places
Situation: Raine's soul gem was stolen, and attempting to get it back.
Warnings/Rating: Boys being protective of Raine idk.

Solomon had left him a terse voice message, but it contained exactly as much information as Bakura needed to take action. The first, which was the actual instruction, was easy enough. Find Genis, and he knew where to start looking. The second, that had been implied.

Genis had mentioned a restaurant in the Earth Sector where he'd been working, and that was where Bakura headed now.

Sorry for slow!

Genis, of course, is none the wiser about the proceedings going on elsewhere in the city. As far as he knows, it's just an ordinary day in an extraordinary world, which is as good to ask for all things considered.

That would change soon enough.

Genis was of course at the restaurant. If it wasn't the university, it was here that was his true place of solace, where he could let go of things and just let his creativity flow. It wasn't magic, but it was something.

Bakura will have it easy when it comes to finding him. While he's usually behind closed doors where the public can't see him, some of the customers of this fine establishment have asked to give their compliments directly to the chef, and that chef just happened to be Genis. He'll be out in the dining area proper when Bakura arrives.

Kedan and Genis alike are somewhat startled by the interruption of Bakura. The kedan are side-eyeing Bakura pretty heavily, significantly non-plussed at the interruption. As for Genis, well, while he's glad to see Bakura, his message is... not entirely convincing.

"Bakura, I'm currently working. I can't just leave right now," he says, his voice practically deadpan. "I mean I wish I could stop and hang out but... why the rush?"

Well... that... changes... everything.

Genis' demeanour completely flips and goes topsy-turvy. Now there's only a stern expression, all mirth and joking long gone from his lips. "Give me sixty seconds," he says, and immediately—and without saying an "excuse me" to the kedan he was talking to before—rushes back to the kitchen and starts taking off his apron. Genis, of course, is going to run afoul of the head chef, who's going to ask him what he's up to. And Genis will politely explain once... then forcefully explain the instant the head chef tries to keep him around for the rest of the day.

As he comes back, Bakura will notice that Genis will be talking to some entity behind him. "—if you want; I don't care. My sister is more important right now!" Yeah, heads will turn in the restaurant because his voice will carry over the conversations, but it won't last long. Genis makes a very direct beeline back to Bakura. "Okay, let's get moving before it's too late."

Bakura might be leading, but Genis isn't far behind. In fact, if ever Bakura hesitates, Genis might well just walk past him, dead set en route to the Hotel and to Raine.

"That's good. Someone needs to be there with her," he says flatly, all emotion gone from his voice except for a quiet anger that almost matches Bakura's. He's angry, though not exactly sure at what or who. Obviously the soul gem thieves, but it's not like he has direct access to them right now to take his anger out on anything productive. "Glad he let me know too. I would have been even angrier if I'd gotten to the hotel and found out about it there."

When they reach the room they'd find Solomon sitting upright against the bed's headboard, with Raine lying beside him, either asleep or trying to get there. Solomon was staring into space, breathing very deliberately even, and every shadow in the room was sharp and still in that manner that spoke of calm before violence.

His head turned toward them as they entered. "There were two," he said quietly, just in case Raine actually was asleep. "They ambushed her on the street and took her elsewhere."

She was not wholly asleep, only dozing uneasily, and the presence of her brother and Bakura would have roused her in any case, Solomon's voice or no. Raine pushed herself upright, offered Genis and Bakura both a tight little smile which faded rapidly. There was a stiffness in the way she moved, caused by tension rather than injury, and she looked somewhat pale for her. "It wasn't far," she added. "I believe it was only in the interest of avoiding witnesses and giving themselves time to search me."

It was difficult to be properly angry when everyone else in the room was apparently doing such a good job of it for her, and despite that she hadn't been sleeping, she was still physically exhausted. Raine shook her head a little, instantly regretted the gesture, and pressed a hand to her temple. "...I made notes," she offered. "On what details I could recall."
