Situation: Tu Vishan has washed up near the cities of Atoce and Uessaire.

The cities of Zeshora were renowned across all of Konryu as works of art, and even with the upheaval which sank and destroyed many of them centuries prior, that distinction remains evident. The Erol'a will recount, if asked, a terrible series of earthquakes and resultant tsunamis that rolled over Zeshora, and how great chunks of the continent simply dropped away. Zeshora was one of the oldest continents, and its landmasses upon the backs of long-dead Great Turtles had been so constant, that no one had even thought it possible such a thing could have happened.

Testament to the Erol'a's resilience however, they adapted and reclaimed the cities that had fallen to, or just below, sea level. Arches, pillars and soaring ceilings dominate the architecture in both cities, and every surface is painstakingly decorated with tiny inlaid shells and coral, turning every hall and room into a mosaic of colour. It's not uncommon for Erol'a dwellings to have multiple stories, and likewise it's not unlikely to have at least a few of those levels under sea level. So it's entirely possible to have one's upstairs be above water, and one's downstairs be below the water! Imagine having to take a swim to get a midnight snack. Of course, the Erol'a don't find that strange at all. Likewise, it's perfectly normal to them to walk down the hallways of their homes in ankle, knee or waist-deep water, something that the Foreigners and even some kedan might take some getting used to. The water temperature during the day is a delightful 80℉/26℃, and about ten degrees cooler throughout the night, so it's pleasant for nearly everyone.

Oh yeah, it's that guy. Gene's seen him around. And yow, what an outfit.

Gene looks him over once before asking, "So did that one kedan with the obnoxious sales pitch corner you, too?" At least he'd managed to get out of it.

[wolfstrike]

Looking over at Gene, Yuri blinks for a moment as he tries to figure out what he's talking about... but it soon hits him.

"Hey, I had this back home too."

Yuri places a hand on his hip. WHAT ARE YOU IMPLYING GENE?

Gene shrugs. "I thought I saw him offering something similar. Though my eyes were still a little seared from that swimsuit he tried to sell me, so maybe I didn't see it correctly."

He eyes the sword. "Expecting trouble?"

[wolfstrike]

"I guess the Kedan must get a kick out of eyeburning swimwear."

At least he admits that the colors are bright. But it doesn't bother him any. It's comfortable and that's what matters.

He then glanced down at his sword. "Nope, I just carry it around for looks," he says before placing the sword down on the sand and then himself right after. Propping up one leg to place his arm on his knee while looking out at the waves.

"That seems to be the fashion." He is not wrong. Apparently that orange-and-teal monstrosity that one kedan had shoved at him is a popular style; he's seen at least three kedan wearing the same color combination while he's been here.

"Heh." Gene glances back at him. "Don't think we've met before. I'm Gene."

[wolfstrike]

Well... at least the Kedan can appreciate his awful since of style.

"Yuri Lowell," he said back to Gene as they made introductions. "So where exactly are you from?"

[wrathfulkhan]

That sure is the question, Yuri. China? New York? He doesn't know anymore. He doesn't have a 'from' - not in the way that means a place to call home, anyway.

"Earth," he says as a compromise, since not everyone came from what they'd call Earth. "Grew up in China. You?"

[wolfstrike]

Huh, Earth again. Seems to be a lot of people from there.

"Terca Lumereis." Yuri doesn't expect that Gene would have heard of it considering him and Duke are the only ones from there. "I grew up in Zaphias."

[wrathfulkhan]

Gene nods. "Is it anything like here?" 'Here' meaning Konryu as a whole, not just Zeshora or Keeliai. He likes hearing about other people's worlds.

[wolfstrike]

"Not really. All the cities in our world are surrounded by barriers, to keep at all the monsters."

This world didn't seem to have any problems like that.

[wrathfulkhan]

"Yeah, we don't have things like that where I come from." Because back home, the monsters are in human form, and you can never tell just by looking. It's been a lot like that here, too. "Like the big wall around Atoce?"

[wolfstrike]

"Nope. You can't see the barriers. Only the blastia that control them."

But hey, it's okay Gene, they have monster humans where he comes from too. Just be glad you don't have to slay dozens of animals whenever you want to travel anywhere.

[wrathfulkhan]

Yeah, teleportation is definitely preferable to slaughtering waves of animals. Faster, more convenient, less depopulation...

"Blastia?"

[wolfstrike]

Yuri lifted his arm to show what appeared to be a thick bracelet. A red stone set in it.

"They're kind of like machines that use magic. We use them for just about everything in our world."

Of course Rita would cringe at his description but Yuri was no mage.

[wrathfulkhan]

"You know, I used to think that magic and technology were incompatible." Now he knows better. Way better. "Then I came here."

He examines the bracelet. "So they're little gems? Like the soul gems?"

[wolfstrike]

"I guess you could say that. They look a lot alike, but it's not my soul that's in it."

That... would take a little bit of an explanation. One that still blew his mind even now. The fact that his blastia core came from the remains of an Entelexeia was still a bit chilling.

[wrathfulkhan]

"I'd be interested to hear more about how they work," Gene noted. "But if you don't want to go into magical theory right now, I wouldn't blame you." It's too nice outside for scholarship.

[wolfstrike]

"I couldn't really tell you even if I wanted to. Only mages know how Blastia work, and I'm not one of them. It has something to do with crests and formulas, but that's about all I know."

So... yeah, he's not exactly helpful in that department as Raine already figured out.

[wrathfulkhan]

Oh well. Worth a shot.

"Huh. Not like anything I've ever heard of," he said, and shrugged. "Pretty intense topic for a beach vacation, anyway."

[wolfstrike]

"Yeah, that's true." Yuri said, more than fine with just dropping the topic, seeing as he can't really answer that question anyway.

"It's nice to actually enjoy a beach for once."

[wrathfulkhan]

"Yeah, I think so, too," he said, and closed his eyes for a moment, basking in the sun. "This is the first time I've been able to do that."
