EVENT | LANDFALL | ZESHORA

Characters: ALL!
Date: June 17th to July 8th
Location: Zeshora
Situation: Tu Vishan has washed up near the cities of Atoce and Uessaire.
Warnings/Rating: Add warnings as needed.

The cities of Zeshora were renowned across all of Konryu as works of art, and even with the upheaval which sank and destroyed many of them centuries prior, that distinction remains evident. The Erol'a will recount, if asked, a terrible series of earthquakes and resultant tsunamis that rolled over Zeshora, and how great chunks of the continent simply dropped away. Zeshora was one of the oldest continents, and its landmasses upon the backs of long-dead Great Turtles had been so constant, that no one had even thought it possible such a thing could have happened.

Testament to the Erol'a's resilience however, they adapted and reclaimed the cities that had fallen to, or just below, sea level. Arches, pillars and soaring ceilings dominate the architecture in both cities, and every surface is painstakingly decorated with tiny inlaid shells and coral, turning every hall and room into a mosaic of colour. It's not uncommon for Erol'a dwellings to have multiple stories, and likewise it's not unlikely to have at least a few of those levels under sea level. So it's entirely possible to have one's upstairs be above water, and one's downstairs be below the water! Imagine having to take a swim to get a midnight snack. Of course, the Erol'a don't find that strange at all. Likewise, it's perfectly normal to them to walk down the hallways of their homes in ankle, knee or waist-deep water, something that the Foreigners and even some kedan might take some getting used to. The water temperature during the day is a delightful 80℉/26℃, and about ten degrees cooler throughout the night, so it's pleasant for nearly everyone.

Please direct questions to the OOC post! You can either use the areas described under header, or create your own -- don't feel you have to be limited to threading only in the locations mentioned in the starters! Just don't forget to label your top-levels with specific locations (eg the Height or the Deep).

ACTIVITY CHECK NOTE: Due to the late-month timing of this landfall, threads from this log can be counted toward either June or July AC. Just don't use the same comment thread for both and you'll be fine!

"Who do I look like, John James Audubon?" Gene asks. The benefits of doing your homework!

"Yeah, you have fought more non-animal-themed villains. I'm not named after an animal," he says simply. No point in trying to pretend his past doesn't exist, after all.

"It's a red and yellow songbird," Pepper explains. "Very pretty but not particularly fierce."

Her mouth thins to a line, as if she wants to say something in response to Gene, but thinks better of it.

"Well let's see. We had the Beekeepers, Shrike, and Unicorn. Black Widow and Black Panther were kind of iffy there, so maybe they should go in a neutral category." She mentally adds up most of the rest of the villains they faced. "Okay, fine. I still think most of them could have come up with better names."

"Unless you count the duck. Or the fish," Tony points out, snickering. Are you sure you're not duck-themed, Gene? (Researching the Mandarin had led him down a few wiki-walking tangents, back in the day.)

"A lot of them weren't bad, but they weren't very creative, either. I mean, 'The Controller'? That's just a description of what he does." Someone please remind him that his superhero name is 'Iron Man'.

"I don't," Gene says serenely. (Even if that is a totally awesome fish.)

Then he snickers in turn. "Really? You of all people are criticizing descriptive names, Iron Man?" he says, teasing.

Pepper can't help but laughing a little, too.

"Don't forget War Machine. I'm clearly the creative one on the team," she says proudly. Tony and Rhodey's pseudonyms are basically descriptive of their armor, and Gene's name is inherited.

"Hey, I didn't come up with Iron Man. The media started that. I just went along with it."

Because the only thing dumber than being given a dumb name by the media is being given a dumb name by the media, and then closing all your superheroic acts with, 'and by the way, my name's actually [other superhero name].' (In all honesty, though, he wouldn't have come up with anything better than Iron Man on his own.)

"And Rhodey liked 'War Machine,'" he adds, in a mutter.

He'd argue that 'Rescue' is kind of a goofy name, too, if he didn't know that that's a one-way ticket to whatever the friend version of sleeping on the couch is.
