August Catch All

Location: Places of varying nature.
Situation: Once Kaiba realizes he's stuck here, he tries to deal with it. Aka Kaiba harasses all the NPCs ever.

It took a few days, and while he didn't admit to it, Kaiba was smart enough to realize he was stuck here. Whether it was real or not. And unfortunately, the testing of his Duel Disk lead him to realize that things were, indeed, real. Or at least more real than any virtual world he's ever created. After all, people don't usually get hungry when their mind is separated from their body, Joey Wheeler aside. While he had gotten the month's ration of Juulan from the welcome center, grudgingly, Kaiba knew that he had to feed himself and that meant making money. And that meant finding a job. Which also meant he was at the mercy of employers. He hated being in that sort of position. However, he had started from the bottom and worked his way up before. He could very well do it again.

Seto could be found wandering around the city, studying it. His favorite haunt being the Metal Sector as it was obviously more up his alley. He inspected buildings, asked questions of the Kedan, and gathered information. He was less inclined to seek help or speak to other Foreigners, considering the lovely welcome he'd received. Besides, he could do things on his own.

He also had to find himself a place to stay, which lead to him finding that abandoned place where some palace gardens supposedly use to be. It was empty, nobody was using it, and it was actually decent. So he took it upon himself to settle there. It was also reasonably secluded from other Foreigners and Kedan alike, and Kaiba did like his privacy.

Wherever he goes, Kaiba takes his Duel Disk and card deck with him. He quickly discovered the fascination some Kedan had for Foreigner technology, and wasn't about to risk it getting stolen.

There was a water shortage, but that wouldn't have stopped Wan from caring for the bright little flowers, but that wasn't important and since she seemed to have stumbled upon the current troublemaker, she might as well talk to him.

"I heard that you stormed Yunxu's mansion," she said, "He knows nothing, because if he did, I'm certain that the majority of us Foreigners would be gone."

Anton and herself probably among the first.

"The person you need to speak to is named Eva."

Kaiba paused and looked back over his shoulder at Valdis.

"He might not know how we were brought here or how we can leave, but you don't get into a position of power by knowing nothing."

Kaiba was pretty darn sure Yunxu knew something. A man like that would make it his business to.

"I heard that an Emperor Eshai was responsible for bringing us here, but that she's dead."

That's what Yunxu had told him anyway. But then, he didn't trust Yunxu as far as he could throw him. There was probably more to it than that.

Yunxu did seem to have an odd obsession with Eshai.

She rolled her eyes at Kaiba's words, "He knows many things, but there is plenty that he doesn't know, and the fact that he pretends to know, makes him dangerous. Eshai was dead long before I arrived, it was Eva's magic that brought us here. And it is her spell that apparently continues to bring outsiders here."

"He doesn't scare me," Kaiba retorted to the statement that Yunxu was dangerous. He knew that people around here were scared of him, and perhaps they had a good reason to be. But Seto Kaiba didn't cower before anyone.

Though now there was a look of disgust at the mention of magic. "Look, whatever hocus pocus you think brought us here, I'm not interested. The only thing I want is a way out. And if the rest of you are still here, then you don't know what it is either. So as far as I'm concerned, this conversation is a waste of my time."

"Just because someone is dangerous," she replied, "Doesn't mean that you have to fear them."

She was dangerous, but neither Wan, Dante or Anton feared her.

"Yunxu isn't a fool either, but his pride is his downfall. But, for the moment, our interests lie along the same path, so we mostly leave each other alone."

She laughed, not at him, but at the idea of 'still being here'. "Who says I want to go home?"

She regarded him carefully, amusement barely hidden in her eyes and smile.

"All right," she said finally, "Since you obviously know better than I, what do you think this place is?"

Kaiba said nothing, until that question was asked of him, to which he snorted.

"I don't need to explain myself to you," he said. Why should he when she would just mock him while insisting he was wrong? That's all anyone did around here after all. None of them had any idea what he's been through or what his reasons were, and he saw no need to tell them either.

So with that he kept walking.

"You don't need to," she replied, "But I know you want to, because unlike me, you actually have something to go home to."

She sighed, "Quite honestly, we have enough problems as it is without someone causing problems that reflects poorly on those of us who have made a life here. If you're just going to cause problems, I don't want you here any more than Yunxu does.

"If you want to know more about Eva and her...abilities, then you should talk to the woman named Milyn. Milyn worked with Eva for a long time, she probably knows something that could help you."

"I'm not here to win friends or your approval. The sooner I'm gone the sooner you don't have to worry about me causing problems and upsetting your little fantasy world. So just stay out of my way."

Kaiba would say no more, and simply walked into the house that he now occupied. However, he just might pay Milyn a visit.
