The hero (Who Wants To Punch A God)

Characters: Sion Astal/Asruld Roland, Valdis, and those who signed up for Do You Want To Punch A God
Date: November 1st
Location: Sky Sector toward turtle-head and then back.
Situation: Valdis accidentally wakes up the mad god in Sion, and Sion needs help getting his body back
Warnings/Rating: Violence, creepy magic, attempted murder,

Closed to Valdis:

It's the same path that she met him the first time, that Sion is walking again. He doesn't seem likely to end up on the ground this time, so that's a good sign... Right?

Open to Punchers and Punchees
Asruld makes his way back into the city. There's something obviously wrong even at first glance – golden light radiates from his skin, and he's trailed by black smoke. ... Black smoke that looks like blood, even.

Dare anyone approach? He's mumbling about something, and occasionally unstable laughter as well.

"Froaude?" She didn't know who that was, or why Sion was trying to avoid her questions. Then the Void surged, twisting her insides, flooding her mind with one command.

Run.

She didn't know why, didn't understand its sudden hostility, but her fight or flight instinct was overrun and she turned and fled.

The Void continued to surge, flooding her body with strength and speed, it offered more, but she refused, knowing that to give it too much was to risk giving into it completely. She had to get it, Sion, the dark god, whatever, out of the city. She ran toward the turtle's head, taking to the rootops and pulling out her radio and quickly dialing Raine.

She barely gets her message out before she misjudges the next leap and slams into the side of a building. She swears loudly, tries to pull herself up and, deciding that it's not worth it, releases the edge and drops to the ground, rolling with the impact. Then she gets to her feet, ignoring the pain in her chest, knowing that it will quickly fade.

She could turn and fight, but the problem with that was that it was very hard to defend yourself when someone was set on killing you, especially if you couldn't kill them back. So she continued to run, feeling the murderous power behind her.

She didn't even glance behind her, knowing exactly where the dark creature moved behind her. Valdis ran through the gate and continued on to the turtle's head, just fast enough to stay out of range, but within sight. It wouldn't do to leave him to roam the city, after all, she didn't even know why it was chasing her.

Once she was a safe distance from the city, she turned, eyes blazing red with the dark energy of the Void.

"What do you want?"

Valdis raised a brow, she didn't recall telling anyone other than Solomon Wreath that she had once been worshiped as a goddess, so it was strange that Sion would say such a thing, especially with such...loathing.

Death and Madness. The Void hissed helpfully.

She gritted her teeth as the blade flew toward her, and waited until the last instant to step aside, just enough the the weapon would miss.

"Surely we can talk this through?"
redlightgreenlight: (mysterious)

She heard the first blade on its return and saw the second blade flying toward her. She flipped over the first blade and under the second, drawing a dagger as she did so, flinging it toward Sion as she landed again. Aimed at his shoulder, if it hit, it wouldn't do any damage that a healer couldn't easily fix, but she had to fight back somehow and something told her that getting close might not be an option. She regretted not bringing her twin pistols with her, they were more useful in long distance combat.

Let me, her darkness hissed, but she ignored it.

She took a breath, scarlet eyes narrowed as she drew her own blade. The holy sword flashed brightly, and she swung it five times, deflecting each blade as it attempted to strike, moving only when necessary, but continuing to draw him toward the edge of the shell and the drop to the turtle's head.

None of this made any sense, Sion's sudden madness or his random decision to kill her. She took another look at his soul, taking a step back when she saw the shift in it's aura. The darkness was now in control...

She charges, leaping out of the way of a sword, deflecting another, sliding beneath a third, expertly maneuvering around them all and swinging her blade directly at Sion. But she turned aside at the last moment, moving out of the way of one of his swords, hoping that it would strike him instead of her as she moved behind him and around.

Without stopping to see if her sword or his had caused him any damage, she put distance between them once more.

This was becoming ridiculous, no matter where she turned there was another shadow sword, moving swiftly toward her, trying to get past her guard. She continued to deflect the blades, moving further and further away from Sion and closer to the edge.

The golden blood on her blade gave an odd sort of glow in contrast to that of it's own glow, but she ignored it for now. How could he not even be slowed by that injury?

She might have been able to keep this up all day, but it seemed that he could as well. She barely deflected a strike at her arm just in time to turn aside a different attack.

It was like when she had been fighting her students a few months ago, she was being backed into a corner, but this time there didn't seem to be any back up and the edge of the shell was getting closer.

Patience wasn't her strong suit either, she could end this, she was certain of it, but in order to do so she would have to try to kill Sion and without more information, she wasn't willing to do that.

"Are you certain we can't talk about this?"

She continued ducking and dodging and deflecting, feeling the Void continue to twist around, offering to take care of the problem for her. The tendrils of the Void could probably avoid all the swords and take Sion out with ease, but that would mean taking his soul and she refused to do that.

My turn, hissed the Void.

She allowed it to rise, the black tendrils lifting from her shadow. The light held within her sword faded and the red gem went dark. She'd forgotten that the power of the blade and the Void didn't mix.

The next strike she deflected knocked Revelations from her weakened grip and she swore loudly as the sword clattered away. Valdis ducked beneath the shadow sword, trying to reach her own weapon, the Void withdrawing back into the shadows as the two opposing forces repelled each other.

She withdrew her arm just in time to avoid the blade, swore as her sword skittered further away, flipped out of the way of the two aimed at her legs and turned aside, the last blade grazing her shoulder as she turned.

The pain was excruciating. Her breath caught as her chest seized and her vision blurred. She covered the cut with one hand and staggered back a step as she tried to recover. The edge of the shell was right behind her.

The pain might have brought a lesser being to its knees, but Valdis knew she had to fight through it. The swords came straight at her and she only had one escape, so she turned and jumped off the shell, trying to roll with the impact, but the pain causing her to land awkwardly and then fresh pain shot through her left leg as it broke beneath the impact. She slammed into the ground, gritting her teeth, tears springing to her eyes.
