The hero (Who Wants To Punch A God)
Characters: Sion Astal/Asruld Roland, Valdis, and those who signed up for Do You Want To Punch A God
Date: November 1st
Location: Sky Sector toward turtle-head and then back.
Situation: Valdis accidentally wakes up the mad god in Sion, and Sion needs help getting his body back
Warnings/Rating: Violence, creepy magic, attempted murder,
Closed to Valdis:
It's the same path that she met him the first time, that Sion is walking again. He doesn't seem likely to end up on the ground this time, so that's a good sign... Right?
Open to Punchers and Punchees
Asruld makes his way back into the city. There's something obviously wrong even at first glance – golden light radiates from his skin, and he's trailed by black smoke. ... Black smoke that looks like blood, even.
Dare anyone approach? He's mumbling about something, and occasionally unstable laughter as well.

"I didn't.. realize things could be seen. Maybe I should have.. taken Froaude more seriously. He did say something about darkness..." It more lies - he does know exactly what it is, and he knows that Froaude couldn't have seen anything...
And he's starting to feel like his body isn't his, his expression slipping toward vacant. Sion's emotions slip further away, and a chaotic mess of madness starts. Whatever that darkness is, it feels angry in a way that suggests it thinks something here has personally wronged it.

Run.
She didn't know why, didn't understand its sudden hostility, but her fight or flight instinct was overrun and she turned and fled.

Sion takes a step backward, hands raising to thump himself in the face a few times. It doesn't help, why can't he think?
So Valdis gets a head start. Asruld takes a moment to put Sion to rest, before he starts after the feeling of a Goddess. It didn't matter that he didn't understand where he was, and why it was different from where it should be.
One of those beings was here, and he would take another out. He would be free, if he did that enough, wouldn't he? Black smoke that also seems to be blood colored trails him.

She barely gets her message out before she misjudges the next leap and slams into the side of a building. She swears loudly, tries to pull herself up and, deciding that it's not worth it, releases the edge and drops to the ground, rolling with the impact. Then she gets to her feet, ignoring the pain in her chest, knowing that it will quickly fade.
She could turn and fight, but the problem with that was that it was very hard to defend yourself when someone was set on killing you, especially if you couldn't kill them back. So she continued to run, feeling the murderous power behind her.

But no, there she is, and while he isn't exactly running, the smoke trailing him almost looks like swords.

Once she was a safe distance from the city, she turned, eyes blazing red with the dark energy of the Void.
"What do you want?"
no subject
So he stops. It isn't really a graceful thing, and those smoke-wisps definitely look like swords, floating a little aimlessly about him in the air.
And when Asruld speaks, its broken by laughter of an uncontrolled, unstable kind.
"To be free... free... You goddesses... filthy goddesses... I kill you... kill you and then... free..." It's hard to make sense of what he's saying, because he's clearly mad, but the point is there.
And also one of those black smoke blades goes flying toward her. Seems he was serious about the killing bit.

Death and Madness. The Void hissed helpfully.
She gritted her teeth as the blade flew toward her, and waited until the last instant to step aside, just enough the the weapon would miss.
"Surely we can talk this through?"
no subject
"Talking... empty, talking..." He spends a moment laughing before possibly getting control of himself again. "No talking while trapped... trapped me without talking... why talk now? Get back.. fix it..."
The first Sword is on the return now, and a second flies from his side toward the goddess.

Let me, her darkness hissed, but she ignored it.

With how vacant his expression is, it's a wonder that Asruld moves out of the way in time. As it is, his cape gains a slice. Finally a good reason for Sion to be wearing so much.
"Sword..." Asruld whispers, and now all but one of the black-blood-smoke blades go flying. Different angles, different trajectories, but all toward that Goddess.
no subject
None of this made any sense, Sion's sudden madness or his random decision to kill her. She took another look at his soul, taking a step back when she saw the shift in it's aura. The darkness was now in control...

Drawing Asruld forward only sort of works. He mostly isn't moving, staring blankly in her direction, the swords responding to cues that aren't physical. He does take perhaps one step forward for every two she does back, keeping her in his sight.
It's another of those invisible cues that has the Swords spinning back in toward her at that step back. He doesn't care what caused it, it looked like an opening.

Without stopping to see if her sword or his had caused him any damage, she put distance between them once more.

That just becomes smoke. The blood that remains on Valdis's blade is a brilliant glowing gold, that matches the glow to Asruld's skin.
And he just.. continues throwing swords her way. The injury doesn't seem to bother him.
no subject
The golden blood on her blade gave an odd sort of glow in contrast to that of it's own glow, but she ignored it for now. How could he not even be slowed by that injury?
She might have been able to keep this up all day, but it seemed that he could as well. She barely deflected a strike at her arm just in time to turn aside a different attack.
It was like when she had been fighting her students a few months ago, she was being backed into a corner, but this time there didn't seem to be any back up and the edge of the shell was getting closer.

Now he seems a little more aware of the surroundings. He keeps one sword near him, but he does seem to be driving her. Patience isn't really something he knows anymore, and he thinks he sees a way to finally get this goddess.
no subject
"Are you certain we can't talk about this?"
She continued ducking and dodging and deflecting, feeling the Void continue to twist around, offering to take care of the problem for her. The tendrils of the Void could probably avoid all the swords and take Sion out with ease, but that would mean taking his soul and she refused to do that.
no subject
On the other hand, he can take it as a sign he's winning. Why would something that devours want to talk unless it was looking for a way out.
So he really only has one thing to say. "Sword."
no subject
She allowed it to rise, the black tendrils lifting from her shadow. The light held within her sword faded and the red gem went dark. She'd forgotten that the power of the blade and the Void didn't mix.
The next strike she deflected knocked Revelations from her weakened grip and she swore loudly as the sword clattered away. Valdis ducked beneath the shadow sword, trying to reach her own weapon, the Void withdrawing back into the shadows as the two opposing forces repelled each other.

Goddesses heal, but it would slow one down, wouldn't it?
no subject
The pain was excruciating. Her breath caught as her chest seized and her vision blurred. She covered the cut with one hand and staggered back a step as she tried to recover. The edge of the shell was right behind her.
no subject
But recover? He doesn't want that. "Sword." As he directs them again. All for upper torso this time, because he's hurt her and now he's certain he can finish it.

But it doesn't last long, and he steps up to the edge of the shell, and sends a sword for the goddesses head.
