[Midnight Hotel] November catch-all

Characters: Anyone, everyone.
Date: Month of November, 2015 (2016 in-game).
Location: The Midnight Hotel.
Situation: Catch-all post! Feel free to use this post for anything that happens within the Midnight Hotel during the month, using the subject header to label specific rooms or for specific people. See also the OOC note at the bottom.
Warnings/Rating: Mark your threads if content warnings become applicable, please!

The Hotel’s processes are chugging along in November. Some absences due to Foreigners leaving means that the Hotel employees are fewer, and while nothing changes in terms of services, things are a little bit hectic. For this reason, some of the kedanese part-timers will be more prominent—particularly at the desk and in the lobby, and keeping the peace.

There’s also that incident with Ravel becoming a bunny rabbit, which puts a little extra strain on the staff, having lost one of their own … temporarily.

The kedan who know Anton well are tiptoeing around him a bit this month. Some of them witnessed him with China at the masquerade and there are some rumours going around the Hotel that the proprietor has a squeeze on the side. Those who actually mention it inside his hearing find out quickly not to do it again, and even on good days he’s tense and almost grumpy. The only times his mood lightens at all this month are when he has the care of the tiny white bunny Erskine’s become.

[ooc: The Midnight Hotel’s status page is available here, with the rules at the top and ongoing status at the bottom. PLEASE POST TO THE STATUS PAGE IF YOUR CHARACTER WOULD LIKE A ROOM, JOB OR AREA IN THE GARAGE, OR ARE MOVING OUT. Anton will manufacture means of payment until Foreigners are able to properly offer recompense or choose to move out.]

The fact that Wreath was treating this more like a business meeting than some sort of friendly encounter was appreciated, although Erskine wasn't sure he trusted the necromancer on that front either. Especially not after what he'd put Erskine through just a few short days ago.

Bows. On the network. Sadistic.

The mention of Skulduggery's birthday piqued his interest, however, and Erskine found himself not sitting in the indicated seat but at least on the arm of it. Close enough without having entirely acceded to the necromancer's request. It came as a bit of a surprise that Wreath had been listening in to that conversation, even though Ravel ostensibly knew that most conversations over the network were open and free for anyone to review at any time. But why that one?

"I'm listening."

"Ah." Solomon lifted a finger, smiling. "My condition is: I want to be involved in whatever prank you're planning. Who knows; maybe I'll have some tips to help you. Or he'll decide to blame me and not you. Luckily, I'm used to being punched, and at the very least it'll be a laugh. Fair?"

It really depended on how much Ravel wanted to associate with him, though the idea of Solomon being blamed was sure to appeal. Solomon really had nothing against the Dead Men personally; only an annoyance at their heroics and their self-righteousness. Ravel had actually turned out to be amusing company, particularly now Solomon knew about Rue.

Which may or may not have been why the bunny-tailoring event. Public revenge for public revenge, after Rue's flirting on his first network post.
edgeoftheknife: Just say that last part again. No, before that. The whole thing. Say the whole thing over again. (I completely understand.)

Honestly, the idea of Wreath getting punched was almost enough incentive all on its own, without the added benefit of learning Skulduggery's birthday. The thing was, Erskine didn't have any terribly well-formed plans with regards to pranking Skulduggery. He'd threatened to sic caroling children on him, true, but it was one of those things one said teasingly, without much force behind the threat.

But if Wreath was willing not only to help with the endeavor, but possibly to take the fall for it? Erskine was enough of a businessman to see the value in that transaction.

"Fair," he said with a slight nod. "I'm sure most of us could use the laugh." And if they kept it relatively harmless, a laugh at Skulduggery's expense would be even better.

"Whatever it is, it's got to be festive."

"Excellent." Solomon rested his elbows on his knees, leaning forward. "His birthday, should I be punched or discovered before I can complete this mission, is the thirty-first of December. Otherwise, I've found that having someone follow him with music is usually a good bet, and I know several dozen children who'd be willing accomplices. That's easy to facilitate. As for the finer touches ..."

He was sure that Ravel had some other ideas up his sleeve; the man seemed scatterbrained lately, but once a Dead Man, always a Dead Man, and they were well-known for being pranksters. So well-known, in fact, that most people dismissed either their prowess or their pranking skills. Most people believed that such traits didn't usually come as one.

Solomon knew better. It would be worth the truce, to hear Skulduggery's irritation at being ridiculed.
