The southern port city of Hatal is used to getting its fair share of visitors, so after the initial surprise of having a continent-sized turtle washing ashore and parking there like it's going to be a while, the Tavimbians recover with admirable poise and begin processing the new arrivals through their customs procedure. After providing a basic summary of their informátion (age, species, duration of tenure on Tu Vishan, and list of "potentially disruptive abilities") they'll be issued a pass stamp, which they must keep on their person while in Hatal. It's made of a brassy metal, a little larger than a credit card, and inscribed with their information, their date of arrival, and whether they've had any run-ins with the laws in Tavimbi (it will be stamped accordingly by the authorities if such happens.)

Once that's all taken care of, visitors will be welcomed to Hatal!

OOC: There are starters in the comments for various areas of Hatal, or you can use the rest of the post for anything on Tavimbi which doesn't fit under those headings.

"That sounds quite handy," Simon commented, his eyes growing distant for a moment as he remembered looking at the scan of River's broken brain they opened up her skull and they cut into her brain. "Psychic powers are very uncommon where I come from. Almost unheard of, in fact."

"You're lucky," Tony says, not picking up on Simon's sudden but subtle shift in demeanor. "You don't see it a lot where I'm from, either, but I haven't met a lot of people who used it for good." He sighs and shrugs. "It would be handier if bad guys didn't keep coming up with new kinds of psychic attacks. Every time I upgrade the shielding, someone comes up with something that I've never seen before."

"Rather like writing new computer viruses to combat new layers of protection," Simon agreed. "Or a disease becoming resistant to a drug. Just as we adapt, so must the people and things fighting against us. It would be great if those abilities could be used for good, but I suppose human nature doesn't change much."
highprofilerichkid: (ooooo..... kaaaayyyy.............)

"Pretty much. But nobody's permanently scrambled my brains yet, so I'm still winning." That's... not really how that works, Tony.

"At least it means the technology keeps advancing," he says, trying to look on the bright side. "I've made lots of breakthroughs trying to keep up with the bad guys. And once the criminals are locked up - the technology's still around."

Simon grinned.

"That is one way to look at it, yes. And I'm glad it is still around, so that it may be of benefit to people down the road. That is all I want as a doctor- for people to be healthy and to have the tools to help them."
highprofilerichkid: (nyeeheheheeheheeehee)

[personal profile] highprofilerichkid 2016-04-01 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
Tony grins back. "Hey, good for you. I think my normal doctor just wants to be the next Frankenstein." Yinsen is... An interesting guy.
pompous_today: (wtf are you on)

Simon furrowed his eyebrows, the reference going a little over his head.

"As in... someone who only wants to experiment?"
highprofilerichkid: (smiling dweeb)

[personal profile] highprofilerichkid 2016-04-04 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, is that reference expired? Huh. I figured that one would stick around." It made it two hundred years, but maybe seven hundred was a bit of a stretch.

"Kind of. How about that saying, 'don't ask why, ask why not'? Have you heard that one? Yinsen's the kind of guy who would say that. And then you'd give him a whole bunch of really good reasons why not, and he'd do it anyway. He's basically a mad scientist. And that's coming from me."

[personal profile] pompous_today 2016-04-07 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
He grinned.

"Admittedly, there is only so much classic literature one can digest in a lifetime," he replied. "And we have 500 years more of it." He then grimaced. "Ah- one who experiments for the thrill of it, and not for the advancement of knowledge or for anybody else's benefit?"
highprofilerichkid: (r u thinkin wat im thinkin)

[personal profile] highprofilerichkid 2016-04-14 08:45 am (UTC)(link)
"That makes him sound sort of evil, but basically, yeah. He saved my life when no one else could have, but, bedside manner? Not the greatest. It's kinda weird being someone's patient and their experiment."
pompous_today: (hmm)

[personal profile] pompous_today 2016-04-14 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"I can only imagine," Simon nodded. "It's quite a contradiction, after all- either seeking knowledge from working on you, or being the one to treat you when you're injured."
highprofilerichkid: (lineface :|)

"Something like that. Mostly he made a lot of really tasteless jokes." Tony appreciates off-color lab humor as much as the next scientist, but there's a time and a place, and that time and place is not 'in the ICU, with a grieving orphan fighting for his life.'
