Magic and technology, voodoo dolls and chants
Characters: Obi-Wan Kenobi and Klaus Von Reinherz
Date: 3/22/2017
Location: A cafe in the wood sector
Situation: Talking science and magic and the Force
Warnings/Rating: None for now. Just a couple of old farts.
[It was a nice little business that did little sandwiches and baked goods to go with their variety of beverages. Klaus frequented between work and sorting out other bits of business.]
[Klaus had claimed a small table by the window with rather comfortable armchairs and had a book open on his lap while he waited for Obi-Wan to arrive.]

The robed Jedi then entered through the door. He quickly picked out Klaus, considering his was the only other Foreigner currently in the place, and walked over. The older man giving a polite bow.
"Klaus Von Reinherz, I take it?"
no subject
Klaus stood as the Jedi walked in and he gave a polite bow.
"Correct. Mr Kenobi, I presume?"
no subject
Boga is kind of licking the windows at the moment. Mm, sea salt.
"Yes, that's right. It's a pleasure to meet you."
And with that, Obi-Wan moved to sit across from Klaus.
jsyk i'm not sorry at all
"Likewise, Mr Kenobi," and Klaus returned to his chair as a few Kedan pressed their faces against the window now that it was established Boga was probably not dangerous.
"We likely have much to discuss - though if I may, you mentioned 'forced experimentation' or did I mishear?"
Pfffft rofl
The Jedi looked amused at Klaus' choice of words though. "I'm afraid you misunderstood. I was speaking of the Force. It's an energy that surrounds and penetrates all living things, that individuals such as myself can tap into."
no subject
"Could you perhaps elaborate?"
It sounded like magic or perhaps psychic abilities. 'All living things could tap into' sounded promising. Perhaps it was a way to form a link to Tu Vishan.
"For example, what is someone such as yourself capable of?"
no subject
"The Force grants many abilities. Such as what you might refer to as telekinesis. As well as being able to sense the feelings of others or even manipulate the thoughts of the weak minded.
When I was given a tour of the Xunutane, I reached out to it with the Force. I was able to 'see' things most others could not."
no subject
"It sounds much like the things I deal with on a regular basis back home," Klaus said, sounding almost relieved.
He leaned forward, hands folded and expression intent. "May I ask what you were able to see, Mr Kenobi?"
no subject
"The Xunutane is but a small part of a vast network. There's several other crystals similar to it in other cities and they are all connected to a greater power. The likes of which is not dissimilar to the Force. Though the Force also seemed to interact with the Xunutane's energy in a way that caused fluctuations."
no subject
"What you have told me here sounds extremely promising. What manner of fluctuations did the interaction cause?"
no subject
He really wasn't sure what that meant. Perhaps some sort of power surge?
"I also participated in an experiment where she exposed my soul gem to the Xunutane's power."
no subject
He wouldn't mind elaboration but he suspected all sides were equally bewildered.
"What happened with your soul-gem?"
no subject
"It didn't affect my soul gem so much as it affected me. When it was exposed to a high enough level of power, it felt like a sudden boost of energy. As if I had been given a shot of adrenaline."
no subject
"Hopefully after the experiments conclude, we will have sufficent evidence to approach the Dexedi with the idea. Should they consent, then we should bring it before the families for their approval."
no subject
"I agree. I'll be most interested to know the results of these experiments. Whatever the outcome, I can speak with the Dexedi foreman. I've become quite acquainted with her. As for the family heads, I haven't been here long enough to know any of them personally."

Even after being in Keeliai for over half a year, Klaus still felt like a bit of an outsider. He didn't want to make any kind of rash judgments that would affect the city without some degree of consent from the inhabitants.
And yet, he felt a degree of frustration. He hadn't caught wind of any Kedan making an attempt to prevent Tu Vishan from sinking, or waking him up. Still, he kept these thoughts to himself. No need to damage the already tenuous relationship they had with the Kedan.
no subject
That is if their attempt with the Force ended up not succeeding, which Obi-Wan wasn't sure about. If others had attempted it in the past, there was certainly no guarantee this attempt would work either.
"I will inform you of our findings."
no subject
Klaus sincerely hoped there was. If this worked, it would be a huge weight off his mind.
no subject
"Very good. Now... I believe you mentioned something called scones?"
