Bisi September Catch-all

Characters: Bisi and You! Also starter for Milyn

A. Bisi has gotten a place in the Sky Sector, a humble kedanese architecture house, which besides being a home for Bisi and the somatic link for Mag, is also a halfway house for a family of Kin'nal. Bisi spends rather little time conscious in the place, to the Kin'nal's joy, but it's still far from an ideal living arrangement.

B. Bisi is now working as a Biologist instructor at the College, which gives her access to the labs for research. She's currently trying to study the Dust that recently started a riot in the sky sector.

C. The Apothecary - closed to Milyn and Penny, Sept 5th
Bisi seeks out Milyn to question her Dust and if she can shed any light on how to neutralize it. She waits outside for Penny before going in.

D. Mag continues to patrol the city and train new officers in the lot beside the Dojo. Her armored body, unexpressive shifting face and martial arts expertise make her an intimidating instructor, and her strict technique only reinforces the perception.

Penny has his own reasons for wanting to learn more about Dust. There's a chance the substance will help him keep the voices in his head down and could help him to focus without needing to explain his condition to everyone to get the narcotics he's been using lately. Careful dosage, select need. He's never been an addict, thankfully, despite OD'ing once before.

"You her?" He asks as he approaches, eyeing the acquaintance up and down a little. She looks alien. While that isn't inherently a bad thing -- hell, he's friends with a number of kedan now -- and he's dealt with his share of judgment for how he looks, he can't help but distrust the unfamiliar at least a little.

"Yes. My name is Bisi." She half-bowed in her wheelchair.

She didn't really have any snap judgements of Penny. Most of the people in Keeliai had a unique sense of fashion; she didn't have any stereotypes to fall back on.

"Ready?" she asked, turning to the door to Milyn's place.

Inside Milyn's clinic, a few kedan were perusing the wares on the shelves, and the Healer herself was wrapping up a purchase for a customer. The bell above the door will jingle when they enter, and the kedan woman will give them a cheery smile. "Come in, come in!"

"Penny," he offered in return, though there was no handshake or any other form of greeting to accompany it. Instead, the magician crossed his arms and turned to follow her into the place. The bell in the door and the setup of the shop made him feel oddly nostalgic and comfortable. This was the kind of place he had visited many a time back in his own world.

He glanced over some of the herbs and other such things for sale, brushing his fingers over a couple of hanging items before returning his attention to Bisi and the woman he assumed was Milyn.

Bisi follows behind. "Hello, you're Milyn, yes?"

She glances at some of the other patrons. She guessed that even with the recent controversy and public announcement, Milyn's shop was just so functional that it was hard to stay away. Or maybe these people supported Milyn's reasoning behind creating the dust.

Even so, she took the advice given over the console and decided not to speak too loudly about it. She approached Milyn and in a whisper, asked, "Could we speak somewhere more private?"

Milyn kept ringing through her customers' purchases as she replied. "Oh, I'm much too busy for that, dear. What did you need? Sleep aid, rash ointment, energy perk? I can whip up anything you're craving, even for cravings!"

"Ah..." She looks around again, nervously. "I was hoping to ask you about Dust, actually."

The Healer tsked loudly, even as some of the kedan browsing the shelves glanced up and over at the overheard mention. "I don't sell that."

Bisi frowned. "No, I don't want to buy any."

Although- having an actual pure sample would be very useful to compare to the traces she harvested from the North Sector.

"At least not personal use. I actually was hoping you could shed some light on what it is, so that I might devise some type of antigen or something to relieve the symptoms."

Penny rejoined them from his browsing, listening in from the first words. He glanced at the kedan nearest them, who seemed annoyed with their interruption, and made a point of making himself look intimidating just to be safe. Then he turned to where Milyn and Bisi were chatting, picking up and examining another item near the counter as he spoke, clearly less invested.

"You can really make something for anything?" Priorities and all. "And if you don't sell it, how come you know so damn much about it?"

"Well that part should be obvious," Milyn tittered. "I thought everyone had been told about my little 'secret' by now. I created, or rather co-created, the formulaic base for what became Dust. Not with its current intention in mind, of course, I saw that it wasn't what I was aiming for and then stopped work on it. But it's not a bad first attempt."

Bisi frowned. Penny seemed to actually be distracting Milyn from the intended conversation, and she'd already been warned that it was hard to keep Milyn on track.

"But can you help counter it? You know about the riot in the sky sector, yes?"

"Of course I know about it," she responded haughtily. "I was there, after all. Helping the people who were affected. What kind of Healer do you take me for, anyway?"

"One who accidentally created a lethal drug that's now taking over the streets," Penny replied honestly, though without much malice. He'd heard of things nearly as bad from one of his favorite healers, after all.

"You didn't answer her other question. Can you counter the side effects or the withdrawals?"

"Only some of them," Milyn answered, with a roll of her eyes as though Penny's reminder was irritating. "The physical ones, I can address. But what Daseng built into Dust, are not solely physical properties."

"So there's 'magic' in it now?" Maybe Zatanna could help, then.

"Well, I think somehow that's a little vague," the Healer answered dubiously, "but yes, something to that effect. I know very little about it, you have to understand. I'm no magician."

"Who's the hell's Zatanna?" He asks Bisi, not even realizing that the words weren't spoken aloud.

Then his attention is back on Milyn. "I am a Magician. So how the hell do I get a damn sample and the resources to test it?"

Hmm? Had she said that out loud?

"She's a foreigner, she works at the welcome center, I'm a little surprised you know her. She knows a bit about 'magic.'"

Milyn seemed unimpressed by Penny's brusque tone. "If that's what you want, I'll get you a sample, but if you go messing around with it and dose yourself, don't even think about coming to me to fix it!" she huffed.

Although given her track record with fussing over Foreigners, she'd probably fix any accidental exposure anyway.

"I would greatly appreciate that, thank you. Don't worry, I know how to deal with potentially dangerous samples. I'm using the lab at the college to analyze it."

She moved to follow Milyn. "I don't know the story, exactly. But.. I understand what it like to try to help people... and it not going exactly how you thought it would."

"Do you?" Milyn's countenance softened. "It's nice to hear that, dear. Honestly, you'd think none of the other Foreigners had ever made an oops in their entire lives. You just let me know what you need, and I'll get it for you."

She smiled, a pained smile.

"A sample, to compare what was found in the sky sector. I'd like to find out how it differs, if it does. Do you have other research that you can share about its development?"

Penny followed along silently. As long as he got a sample to test with his magic and a little bit on the side, he'd be content. He was oblivious to most of the dangers the pair were warning about, but that wasn't going to stop him. Besides, that's what Bisi was for.

"I'll see what I can put together for you. Will you come back tomorrow, to give me a chance to do that?"

Hyuuga watches with interest for a while, and then he comments that "that game seems fun!" even though he knows that training isn't something everyone considers a game.

It does? Mag looks at the newcomer quizzically.

"Continue the drills," she instructs the rest and then steps by to talk to Hyuuga.

"Are you with the police force?"

The police force? This place's police force? At home he's in the army but---

"Nah, I'm with the sweets force." He offers her a lollipop. "Want one?"

What the heck is she supposed to do with that?

"That's a joke," she said, almost question, but not really. More like 'did I accurately identify your comment as a joke'?

You know what? She takes the lollipop. That was the polite thing to do, even if she had no idea what to do with it afterward. She just awkwardly holds it in her hand.

"Thank you."

"Nope, it's not a joke, it's serious business you know, sugar is very important." With the way he talks he sounds as if he's joking, but he actually isn't. Sugar is serious business.

"You're welcome! So are you training with them?"

"Economically...?" It wasn't important nutritionally at all. It had good calorie density but the expense of its production was inferior to other types of food.

"Instructing, mostly."

"Partially! But also for the mood and stuff!" He's just a sweets lover, to a way too big extent.

"Oho! So all fun then! Can I join a little while!"

What? This wasn't fun. Was it? She was trying to figure out what fun was and this was conflicting with everything she was trying to learn about it so far.

"Uh, I guess? If you won't be too distracting to the rest of the officers."

What? Was he ruining her fun? He always did things for fun and just went the way the wind turned him, pretty much (unless he had orders from superior rank) but fun was very important and training is fun, in particularly training with someone strong.

"Don't worry don't worry, I won't do anything besides soundly defeat anyone I get to spar with." He's not even bragging, just stating facts. He is very strong.

"Is that right?" Mag was intrigued.

"Would you like to try me, then?"

“That’s right! And of course! I want to try everyone!”

Mag stepped back, then clasped her hands together and bowed her head. She loosened her stance, sliding a foot behind her and putting a hand in front of her, slipping into a ready stance.

By his very nature, Chat spends a lot of his time with Ladybug. It's how their partnership works. On occasion, he still chooses to go out on a patrol alone. It's on one of these lone patrols that he runs into Mag again. He offers her a wide smile, dropping down from a roof to land beside her.

"Well, look who it is."

"Are you talking to me?" She replies, confused. Mag's sensors didn't detect anyone else near Chat.

"Unless someone else is around here."

He offers her a wide grin.

"Seen you around the station. You on patrol?"

"I haven't completely eliminated the possibility of other presences, although I detect none."

It was probably safe to assume he meant her. What a strange rhetorical device.

Mag's stance was solid, and her swirling face betrayed no emotion.

"I am on patrol. It's actually a rather comfortable duty. We were guards for the Orokin after the war with the Sentients. It was perhaps the most pleasant time I can recall."

"That was a figure of- nope, never mind."

She and Bisi had a lot in common, it seemed. His tail flicks and curls idly as she talks.

"Sounds pretty sweet. I mean, at least things are a little calmer here after the whole dust business, right? Still. Want company?"

"...yes." Socializing was discouraged among the Orokin. They were afraid of conspiracies.

Turned out they were right, but perhaps it was self-fulfilling.

She subtly gestures to Chat to continue walking with her. They were in the water district. It made for a very scenic patrol route, water pouring down from fountains into numerous canals.

"The riots were a high-intensity event, but it was unusual and very limited. It seems to me that foreigner and Kedan alike are attributing too much importance to it."

He puts his arms behind his back, happily walking into step with her. This, he could live with. Solo patrols are never really his thing. He likes having someone to talk with.

"It was pretty bad. People got hurt, property got damaged," he shrugs. "Besides, it's proof the Cultists really won't stop at nothing to get what they want. Even using the Kedan against us."

"We've assumed the cultists are responsible, but we actually have no proof of it. And no public representative has claimed responsibility for it. But if it was a terrorist attack, the worst thing to do is to overreact. You're just playing into it's intended effect."

She also liked the company. Even back on her world, missions with a squad were more comfortable than solo ones.

"Trust me, I don't plan to overreact at all."

Largely because Valdis has him and Marinette getting information incognito. He can't afford to overreact, he has to do this stealthily. It's the only way they'll learn anything.

"But if it is proven they're doing it, we'll have to figure out how to diffuse the situation somehow. Or we're just going to end up with everything going nuts again."

"I'm working on learning more about the dust. If I can find out something substantive it might give me some idea of how it's being manufactured, which might give us some leads on where to look."

"That's...actually a really good idea," he nods. "I mean, the more facts we have, the better chance we've got, right?"
