Catch-All for Fourth Wall.... And Other Things
Characters: Conan Edogawa and You
Date: Feb 18 to March 11
Location: Various locations
Situation: Fourth Wall
Warnings/Rating: Probably none
1: Not-221B
Conan was putting a lot of effort into avoiding his housemates as much as possible. After the events of the last month, he had very little interest in being cornered into talking about everything that had happened. He'd show up for meals and at night, but for the most part he spent as much time as possible outside of the apartment.
He needed time. Time to figure out how he felt about all the new revelations.
2. Central District
Conan spent a lot of time skateboarding around the district, sometimes stopping to practice soccer or to get something to drink at one of the restaurants. He watched for trouble, as always, but for once things seemed to be quiet. Perhaps it was because of the strangely large number of new arrivals.
3. Library
At the library, Conan happily found a chair and buried himself behind stacks of books. Between the on-going study of the kedan languages and the numerous question he was investigating about this place, he had more than enough to occupy himself for hours.
4. KPD
Even though he was mostly certain that the work he had been assigned at the police department was meant to keep him busy and out of trouble, Conan still made a point of stepping in every day. Sometimes there was something interesting for him to work on. On occasion he stops in to see some of the different officers he was slowly getting acquainted with.

"What do you want? I know you wouldn't have gone to the effort of getting my attention without a reason."
no subject
So instead she feigns ignorance for now.
"Getting your attention? How would I do that? I've just been checking to see if my phone would work."
Vermouth holds it up in view. Obviously, this hasn't been the first time she's tried using her cellphone. She made an attempt shortly after her arrival, using the same number. But there's a theory she wanted to test.
no subject
"And doing that in public when I just happened to be nearby? After six days?"
He didn't believe for a second that she hadn't realized that it wouldn't work within the first hour of her arrival.
no subject
"You certainly noticed awfully quick," Vermouth says, veering away from the questions. She quirks her head to give the small detective a pensive stare.
"It's almost like you recognized the number I dialed."
no subject
He'd gotten the number from her, after all. Even it was a pandora's box that he couldn't open.
no subject
After all, he had threatened to use the number himself if she did not bring him to That One. And that was something Vermouth could not allow. For both Shinichi and Ran's sake.
no subject
He doesn't explain how he still knew it.
no subject
Then Vermouth frowns, a surprisingly serious expression for her.
"You haven't called the number, though."
She speaks with utter certainty. Vermouth is close enough to That One that there is little doubt she would hear of such an event. Not to mention, Conan was still alive and well.

Yet.

She closes them before replying.
"Oh. I suppose it was in poor tastes." Vermouth's voice could almost be regretful. After all, officially she had killed Sherry in the train bombing. Even if it really hadn't worked, Conan would be expecting her to believe it. Possibly. Vermouth did know about their shrunken identities after all. It would not take much investigating for her to realize otherwise.
Moving on.
"You've been quite busy, haven't you, detective?"
no subject
Of course he'd been busy. But he was curious why Vermouth wanted to know.
no subject
"Normally you are involved in so many cases. I imagine you'd like to keep busy when in unknown territory."
no subject
He didn't intend to give any more information than the minimum.
no subject
"With detective work?"
no subject
no subject
"You should know the answer to that."
Her smile drops as Vermouth changes the subject.
"Do you intend to return to Beika City?"
no subject
"When there's a chance."
no subject
But largely she is relieved. Call her selfish, but Vermouth is pinning her hopes on Shinichi. Her Silver Bullet... the one who might actually take down the Black Organization.
Those thoughts barely show on her face, though her shoulders do relax some at the answer.
"A word for the wise then, for when you return. Bourbon has taken an interest in you."
no subject
"How much interest?"
no subject
Any interest from another member was too much in Vermouth's books. If they figured out Conan's true identity... Both her Silver Bullet and her precious Angel would be silenced. Vermouth would not allow that.
Thus why it was imperative to inform Conan now that she had an opportunity away from the Organization's eyes and ears.
"He was supposed to observe the Mouri Agency for leads to Sherry. However, the mission is over, and yet he stays."
no subject
The situation had just gotten a lot more dangerous,
"Did he give a reason?"
no subject
"Yes." But he's not going to like it. "The Sleeping Kogoro caught his eye."
no subject
"Anything else?"
