Catch-All for Late March

1. Central District

Somehow it just figured.

He was finally having a kind of decent day. Decentish. No ghost responsibilities, no school.

So of course he would suddenly start shivering in the middle of his walk home. Danny wraps his arms around himself in a useless attempt to stay warm.

Either there had been a really sudden cold snap or... He forgot about his ice powers.

Danny starts running.


2. Just Outside Keeliai

Somewhere in his frantic run out of Central Danny had managed to find a hidden place to change to his ghost side and take to the air. Flying was hard when you were this cold, but he managed. As soon as he clears any populated areas he heads up into the sky. and then he focuses, and lets the cold energy out. There is a flash of blue light, followed by a wave of cold.

And then there is nothing but an extremely localized snowstorm.

Danny sighs and slowly drifts back to the ground.

"Well,that could have gone better. But hey, at least I didn't create any accidental glaciers this time."


3. Midnight Hotel
Once his shift of the day finally ends, Danny goes in search of Adrien. Danny figured he should still be somewhere around the kitchen.

Adrien is, indeed, in the kitchen, putting away the last of the plates of the night, glad to be facing the end of a shift. That usually meant more time with people he cared about- actually having something of a social life, albeit one where he's still learning exactly how to have one. Sometimes, it even meant setting himself free and roaming the city as Chat for a few hours.

He smiles as Danny enters, closing the cupboard with a satisfied click.

"Hey, man. All done?"

"Yup. I just packed up tools for the day." Danny grins wryly. "Never thought I'd end up as a handyman."

[purrns]

"I'm pretty sure my father would burst a blood vessel if he saw me working as a busboy."

At least. Oh, there would be so much screaming. He puts a couple more utensils away, turning back to Danny.

"And that's me all set, too."

[schrodingersghost]

"Huh, seriously? My sister always said that jobs like that were supposed to be good for building character in teenagers while giving them something to do. Of course, she thinks she's a psychologist, so maybe she's wrong about that."

[purrns]

"Well, I'm pretty sure Père wouldn't want me going outside the mansion if he had anything to do with it," Adrien's smile is a touch more wan. "My character building is supposed to be what he wants to be built in, rather than me finding it myself."

He pauses, chuckles.

"But hey, got to be interesting having an armchair physiologist in your house."

"Yeah, interesting is one word for it. She keeps lecturing me on how well adjusted adolescents need more positive social interaction."

Danny makes a face."No offense, but are all rich guys a little fruitloopy?"

[purrns]

"Well, I can't really argue with her on that one, coming from an adolescent who didn't really get any of that."

Being in a bubble is about as least fun as anything he could think of. It sucks. He gives a little shrug at Danny's question.

"None taken, and I think so? I think the eccentricity thing comes with the money, why'd you ask?"

"She's obnoxious and interfering and over protective, but occasionally she's also right." Danny makes a face. "Though I do have two friends at home. I don't get why that's not enough."

He winces a little at that. "I guess I kind of know a rich guy back home that puts the loop in fruitloop. He knew my parents in college and he kind of wants to kill my Dad, marry my Mom, adopt me as his son and evil apprentice, and ignore my sister. Oh, and buy the Green Bay Packer."

[purrns]

"Maybe she just wants to make sure you're happy?"

There goes Adrien, always seeing the best in people. But that....wow, that sure is a thing right there, Danny.

"...Just when I think your life can't get any weirder, you just throw me a curve ball like that. That's...pretty darn fruit-loopy."

[schrodingersghost]

"I keep telling him he should try internet dating. Or get a cat. Because seriously, dear Uncle Vlad really needs some hobbies that don't involve world domination."

[purrns]

"I wish we could set up some sort of 'crazy villains anonymous' meet-up or something. Maybe talking it out would help all of them out a little. Or at least give us all fewer headaches."

[schrodingersghost]

"Or actually meeting other villains could just make everything worse."

[purrns]

"I...actually that's a good point. We don't want to encourage them."

[schrodingersghost]

"The last thing they need is encouragement. I swear most of the ghost I deal with back home get worse when they team up."

[purrns]

"Yeaaaah that sounds about right. I'l really glad I only have to deal with one akuma victim at a time."

[schrodingersghost]

"Do you have to deal with them dating each other?"

[purrns]

"I...guess some of them kinda do? But then we cure them right after- so one of the couple is always just themselves again- not super powered or anything."

[schrodingersghost]

Danny makes a face.

"Count yourself lucky there. Nothing is more annoying than getting pulled into your enemy's romantic problems. Last time I ran into Skulker he was trying to take my pelt because his girlfriend told him he was a plusy hunter. And don't even get me started on Johnny and Kitty."

[purrns]

"Wait, so someone wanted to skin you? To impress their girlfriend? Like...you can actually skin a ghost?"

Yes. That's the part to focus on.

[schrodingersghost]

Danny waves a hand dismissively.

"Oh, that guy's been after me since the day he found out I existed. Apparently I'm rare, and that makes me a good prize. Though he keeps changing his mind on whether he wants my pelt on his wall or his bed."

[purrns]

"...Dude," Adrien gives him a look. "I know you're probably getting desensitised to it because your life is generally really freaking weird. But as your friend I feel I really have to tell you that that;s really creepy. Moreso than usual."

[schrodingersghost]

"Really? I've always thought it was more of an eww thing. Or maybe a yikes." He shrugs. "Either way, I guess it's a kind of threat you get used to. It's not even the worst one I get."

[purrns]

"Noooope, it's definitely a yikes thing."

Okay, no wait, Adrien cocks his head to one side. Danny what is your life.

"You mean the person who literally wants to skin you isn't the worst threat you get? Again: literally wants to skin you."

[schrodingersghost]

"Well, yeah. He might have a robot suit that seems to get more missiles every time he upgrades, but I've beaten him tons of times. I know what to expect." He shrugs. "To be honest, I'd take a fight with him any day over dealing with the Guys in White. They're the government's ghost-hunting division, and they've made it pretty clear they want to bring me in for lots and lots of painful experiments. And you saw what my parents are like. Nocturne wants to put me to sleep, permanently. Undergrowth tried to feed me to his plant children. Walker wants to put me in his prison for a thousand years, to start. I'm not actually sure which is worse."

[purrns]

"...Seriously, Danny, what is your life even?"

He feels the need to ask this, he really does.

"I mean, jeez, is anyone not actually crazy and dangerous with the ghost thing?"

[schrodingersghost]

He has to think a moment.

"It's really more of an either or kind of thing. I mean, the Far Frozen is pretty cool. And I get along pretty well with Cujo and Wulf and Dora. But they're all pretty crazy."

[purrns]

"Sounds like a blast. You have all my sympathies."

[schrodingersghost]

Danny stares at Adrien for a moment, a little confused by the comment.

"Uh, thanks? I think?"

[purrns]

Adrien flashes him a toothy grin.

"Yoooou're welcome!"
