Just because Gene's dealt with this weather before doesn't mean he particularly likes it. But at least the great trees of the Wood Sector provide some relief in the hottest parts of the day, and since he can't sleep much at all lately, let alone at midday, he walks.
He meanders, humming so quietly to himself that he's not even aware he's humming, something like an old lullaby.
B. [Jackie] | Night Market | throughout August | open
The Night Market's helping to improve Jackie's mood even more. It's almost like being back home in North Point. It's weird; it's one of those home-and-not things Keeliai, even now, throws at him, and while he should really expect them by now, he's always taken by surprise.
He can be found haggling and laughing and joking and just walking around with stars in his eyes. He's a happy dude.
C. [Alex] | Night Market | throughout August | open
It's really odd how much this alien place is familiar to Alex. The night market is familiar enough to bring him a wave of nostalgia, or something like it - a yearning for a time thirty years gone when he was a whole man. It's not a bitter feeling, but one like looking at his own life through glass, as though it were another's.
If he were given to being maudlin, he'd probably let himself be overcome by sadness and regret about how much of his life had been spent dwelling in shadow. But since he's not, he's having a damn great time at the night market. Come say hello!
D. [Miles] | Earth Sector | throughout August | open
It's time to stop being such a sadsack, Miles has decided, so he's actually...outside, walking around during the day, and not acting like a crazy person.
Well, not any crazier than usual.
His camcorder on his hip, he's gone out for a cup of tea. Surely nothing too terrible can happen to him while he's having tea, right?
Oh, God, he's just jinxed it.
E. [Aly] | throughout Keeliai | throughout August | open
Wow, Aly's being cheerful. She likes summer; always has, even if this is a little, ehn, swampy for her tastes. At least she's not being a moody little so-and-so.
And sometimes, someone might be able to find a maned wolf with gazelle horns doggy-paddling in the canals in the Water Sector to cool down, or playing with kedan children in the street. (Any Foreigners just try and pet her, though. See if you draw your hand back with all your fingers.)
Basically, there's a new stray puppy in town.

One of the good things about having your own place is that you have your own, well, place, a little bit of privacy to hide from the world, especially when things get too much. Gene's moved to the courtyard, trying to study for his shadow test.
How the hell do you study for a shadow test? Therapy, maybe?

"Thinking? About what?" His tone is less flippant now. It's almost... cautious. For Gene, thinking usually comes with a capital 'T', and it doesn't always bode well.
