PARTLY OPEN
Characters: Marinette and YOU
Date: 9/30-10/1
Location: Wandering about then stopping at the park
Situation: A catchall for New and Old CR, + threads for Pepper and Adrien
Out and about! [OPEN]
The dance that Valdis had put together had started out fine - even fun! Unfortunately a careless word from Marinette had completely ruined the experience. She needed to make things right for Adrien. She was already planning on making a special breakfast for him, and that was partly why she was out now. She was checking various stores in the hopes that she could find some food dyes, or at least something similar enough to it that she could make good on her promise to make a rainbow breakfast for him. Currently she had a bag with her, with fruit, a few small bottles, and a small drawing pad. Once she was finished with her searching, she made her way to the park to sit on the bench and spend some time drawing - mostly it was to draw her clothing designs, but she might also be using the time to work on model figures. She ..might be using random passerbys as an example. Come by and see what's up?
Closed to Pepper
Drawing in the park did NOTHING to cheer her up - and neither did planning on making that meal for Adrien. Normally she would run to Alya on all things Adrien, but Alya wasn't -here-. Pepper was the closest thing to Alya-status, so *boop* Marinette gave her friend a quick call while Adrien was out, and invited her over. It was as much a bagel tasting as an 'I UPSET ADRIEN I SUCK PLS HIT ME' call.
So when Pepper did eventually reach the apartment, Marinette's left the door partly open to let her friend in, and sprawled on one of the couches in the epitome of the overdramatic teenage 'my life is OVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR' positions. Because it was over. IT WAS SUPER OVER and ADRIEN HATED HER and LIFE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME Crrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaawwwliiiiiiiiiiiiin in my skiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin -- okay she's not THAT bad...
Closed to Adrien
So that morning Marinette had sneaked quickly and quietly into the kitchen a good two hours earlier than usual, because she had a few extra steps to make in order to get Adrien's rainbow breakfast sorted properly. Occasionally she yawned and stretched, but she remained alert enough to not burn the apartment down in the process of food cooking. She'll still be watching over the food cooking when it was a normal hour that Adrien would wake up, and the moment he roused she poked her head out of the kitchen to glance at him a little hesitantly. "Hey... Adrien? I made breakfast.. if you're hungry." Hopefully he wasn't still really angry with her and was going to snub her food preparation. She needed to talk to him, and she wasn't going to let him avoid her. (...even though she was doing the avoiding before now.)

"Oh, hey, thanks! I won't say no to a little breakfast."
This Thread is full of trademarks(tm)
Marinette still felt like he wasn't really smiling. Maybe it was intuition, maybe it was because she was more than familiar with the Teen Model Smile(tm) thanks to the Wall of Adrien(tm) back home,.. or maybe she was just imagining things and kicking herself over how she messed up that night.
"Great! Just have a seat and I'll bring it out." She'll even eat with him and pray she could keep breakfast from being awkward. At least until she had The Talk(tm) with him.
as it should be
But now? Now he's glad for it. Better than show his real feelings and get her hurt.
"Cool, thanks Mari. This is pretty cool of you. "
Re: as it should be
So saying that, she pads out of the kitchen again with several plates balanced on her arms oh god she's going to drop EVERYTHING.
But she doesn't - she has to walk EXTRA slow but she does manage to keep balancing stuff to the table. "Phew. I should have gotten a tray or something." Hindsight is 20/20~! But she lays each plate out and ... it's clear she went to a LOT of trouble and effort to make this special for him. There's a plate of scrambled eggs, dyed green, a few slices of ham, also dyed green, pancakes sliced evenly in half - which actually have rings of color to make it look like a rainbow. There are slices of purple bacon and red sausages, and to top if off, orange juice!

"You did fine, just by yourself," she even gets a thumbs-up.
His eyes widen when he sees his actual breakfast, and a genuine smile breaks through the fake one. He can't help it. It's so...adorable, and she remembered it.
"Oh man you made me a rainbow breakfast!!"

"Haha, of course! I told you I could do it, I just had to get the stuff I needed." She looked thoughtful, "At least I think I got everything -oh! The bagels! Just a sec." OHGOD THEY'RE GOING TO BURN. Scrambling off into the kitchen where there's a bit of clattering, some banging, Marinette squealing as she salvages plateware from almost falling off the counter and then a few 'ack-kaff's from a cloud of smoke that puffs out as she opens the oven to take the bagels out. "It's fine! They're fine!" She calls out of the kitchen a second later. PHEW.

"Are you okay? Do you need help in there?"
It sure sounds like she needs help. Wow, he hopes she doesn't set fire to herself.

Even with the brisk air pinking her cheeks, she rode her bike at a moderate speed. There were children playing in the distance, and a few couples and groups walking on some of the pathways. She gave them all her usual observant glance, only slowing when she noticed a solitary figure off to one side.
And coming to a gradual halt when she recognized Marinette. Who appeared to be...drawing?
She debated for a moment whether or not she should even interrupt, despite knowing that if the other girl were to have paid attention to her surroundings, she would hear the small squeaking of her bicycle breaks only a few feet away from the bench.

"Good morning." She dismounted, holding her bike by the handles as she moved a little closer. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything important. You looked hard at work there."

In hindsight, she supposed she would have guessed, though it was their previous conversation that had temporarily thrown her. The way they'd joked about others who were obsessed will fashion. She'd nearly forgotten that Marinette had made her own dress for the event, and realized that of course she must have drawn the design before sewing it together.
"Are they for anything in particular? Or just random drawings?" To pass the time. A hobby she'd known friends from the past to have. Kyle had been an artist, hadn't he? And she remembered Damian mentioning something about it as well. "They're very good."

She nudges the door open with her foot and closes it the same way because she has brought hot cocoa with her. "Marinette?" The younger girl is splayed over the couch and gets a sympathetic look, and Pepper holds out one of the tumblers. "Hey. Guess bringing chocolatey goodness was a good call."

She offers Marinette a smile. "Pretty sure everyone does at some point. What happened?"
I see your hug icon and raise you another hug icon!
"Everything was going fine! W-we even danced..a little, but we kept stepping on each other's feet," she admits with a little sad grin, "And I suggested that we sit down for a bit after a while..."
alas my other hug icon is too cheery
"Well, sounds like things started off alright," she begins, reassuring. "I can basically guarantee that Adrien doesn't hate you." From what Pepper knew of Adrien, he was the type to demonstrate hate very pointedly, if he reached that level at all - it didn't seem like an emotion that came naturally to him, which made him all the more likeable. "I'm guessing you guys got to talking, and it didn't go as planned," she prompts.
Awwww ^^
and neither can her player."That's an understatement. He said he was going to talk to some other people at the party, but... it felt more like he just wanted to get away from me. I mean, we didn't even go home together."
