Situation: Fishiiiiiiiiiing.

[Since arriving on Tu Vishan, Finnick's felt like he's going to explode. Like one day, he'll just not get out of bed again. Thankfully, the pull of the ocean is stronger than his need to simply stop existing for awhile. Fishing is as natural to him as breathing, and while he had really wanted to have quiet time to himself, he likes that so many people are interested in either joining him or having him teach them how it's done.

He likes that a lot more than being alone. He can't be alone anymore.]


[ooc: so feel free to assume whatever day you want to go out with Finnick. With so much interest in the post, I figured this would be the easiest way of doing it rather than having everyone come out all on one trip/one day, yada yada. c:]

[Well, being the son of a printer in Provence doesn't do much for your fishing skills, unfortunately. But he turns and gives Finnick a friendly enough grin.]

I certainly am.

[insecrets]

There's nothing like being able to provide for yourself. [He nods towards the boat tied to the dock. The supplies are already inside.] Go ahead and hop in, and we'll be on our way.

[philosophe]

Exactly. [Not that he ever really has, honestly, but he does at least know a day's work, even if it is in a clinic. But he nods, and hops into the boat as directed.]

[insecrets]

[Finnick climbs in after him, untying the boat and pushing off away from the dock. It's a simple and plain wooden thing, what he could afford to get for the time being.] Not that we necessarily need to fend for ourselves at the moment. As long as you have the money to buy from the stores.

[philosophe]

I do, but I should like something to do with myself in any case. Where are we headed?

Ah, not enjoying the quiet pleasures of life on the turtle? Don't worry, I'm sure that they'll have another Game for us soon enough. [He's smiling, but there's a slight bitter tone in his words.] Not that far. There's a barrier about a mile out that knocks us out if we try to leave.

[philosophe]

--Well, I am enjoying that I have time to recover, but it does get a bit dull. [He tilts his head a bit, curious now.]

'Game'? I am not certain I take your meaning.

[insecrets]

[Despite having been here for a few weeks now, Finnick still forgets that people haven't ever heard of Panem. That when he makes references to the Hunger Games, nobody has any clue what he's talking about. At this point, he's gotten that people find them just as awful as they did back home. But if Combferre is going to ask...]

The Hunger Games. It used to be an annual event back where I'm from. We were placed inside of an arena and forced to survive. Twenty-four kids in, one kid out. [That's about the gist of it.] This place reminds me of an arena.

[philosophe]

[He's just staring in shock for a moment, before he shakes that off with a slight shudder.]

That is ...horrifying. I am sorry you had to endure it.

[insecrets]

[He shrugs. Yeah, he expected that sort of response, but it's been his reality since he was born. Shit happens.] It's over now. Nobody will have to deal with the Games in Panem now. [He throws his companion a lazy grin.] Us, on the other hand? I doubt we'll be so lucky.

[philosophe]

I should certainly hope not, I have died once already. [It's not a joke, though he says it lightly -- simply a fact, and he shrugs a little.]

So you fought against them, I take it?

[insecrets]

[Finnick chuckles.] You and me both. [He isn't dead yet, but he knows it'll only be a few seconds before the end if he's ever returned home. It's basically like he's died.]

It was a revolution.

[philosophe]

Ah. [He nods and shifts back in his seat a little, thoughtful but no less intrigued.]

As was ours, though it -- did not come to fruition while we fought for the republic.
