Location: A smallish cafe in the Wood sector!
Situation: Discussion of politics and philosophy and culture and possibly shenanigans, we never can tell with these guys.

[The cafe wasn't too far from their various tree-houses, reasonably priced and in a place where it could be easily found by passers-by. They had adopted it once they had all felt well enough to go wandering about their new home, it was comfortable and pleasant and very nearly reminded Combeferre of home. Certainly it would never be quite the same as the Musain, and he did not expect it to be.

But it would do, for now. So for the moment, he is quietly ensconced with his friends in a back corner. They are discussing things amongst themselves, waiting to see if anyone will accept Enjolras' offer and join them. Hopefully, this wouldn't turn out as horribly as Marius' introduction to Les Amis de l'ABC. That would remain to be seen. Suffice to say, if Combeferre recognizes anyone, he will be waving them over with a welcoming grin.]

True, but I can't think of any other reason someone would ask permission to enter her library, unless I can convince her I am genuinely interested in only the books of poetry I imagine are held in there.

Well-- I have faith in you, poète. Though I do suppose I could try and make amends if that does not work.

I wish I were a better actor. Where is Courfeyrac when we need him?

--I hesitate to suggest this, especially knowing Enjolras' thoughts on the matter, but perhaps we might wait a while longer.

[A moment, and then Jehan moves closer to Combeferre to speak quietly]

You believe the others might join us?

[philosophe]

I do not think it is impossible.

[Jehan smiles softly]

Agreed. I will say nothing to Enjolras. Speaking of, however, Monsieur Gray has informed me that, when he managed to gain access to the library, all the texts were in the local language.

[philosophe]

...Well, that is certainly irritating. Perhaps we could find a translator?

Monsieur Gray seems to be attempting to learn it. If we gain access to the library, we will have to make copies of what we can and take them with us.

[philosophe]

I think that may be able to be done, if we bring enough paper and ink and work quickly.

It might be the only way we'll learn anything, as frustrating as it is. I wish I had thought to learn an Oriental language

[Assuming he found someone to teach him and assuming this place even uses Chinese/Japanese/whatever]

And I the same, it never occurred to me in the first place.
