[Having finished her mandatory quarantine, Bryn ventures into the city of Atam. Well, one of Bryn does anyway, having left a second version of herself behind in Keeliai to continue working both in the fields and for Wayne Enterprises as she has been for some weeks now.

Intending to both explore the city as well as shop for a variety of necessities, she pays for a week in advance at the communal housing establishment and heads into the city...]

[Of course there is. He's like what you'd get if you crossed a cat with a male supermodel and ratcheted the hotness up several notches. He smiles back, not shy of displaying his sharp teeth.]

Oh, there's nothing wrong, but I prefer to blend in with the crowd. Insofar as I am able.

[It's not worth the effort to craft an illusion that makes him look boring.]

I'm Rand Stratford. It's nice to meet you, considering the circumstances.

[At some point she'll stop staring, Tybalt/Rand. Honest. Just once she gets used to it. Which is probably never.]

Yes, considering the circumstances. Without our powers and to add insult to injury, drenched to the bone.

[With a wry twist of her lips, she sighs with resignation. Nothing to be done but try and dry off at this point.]

Do you have a hood or scarf or something to cover up with until you get back into the city? If not I might have something to lend you.

[Eh, it comes with the territory.]

Unfortunately, I'm fresh out of accessories. If you have something suitable, I'll try it.

[He's mostly letting himself drip dry. His hair got the worst of it, though his jeans are almost as soaked.]

I wasn't expecting to end up trapped here when we came over, so I packed lightly.

I had expected to spend the whole time in the city so I admit, I packed a bit heavier than usual. Why don't you come with me and I'll see if I've got anything?

[Grabbing her coat, she tilts her head toward the doorway that leads into the next room. She heads in there and goes straight for her things. Grabbing the strap of an over-sized bag, she heaves it up onto the bed and unzips it. She sorts through the chaotic lump of clothing (it had been neat when she'd first packed it!) and pulled out a spare set of clothes for herself first, then paused.]

I'd offer you a change of clothes as well but they're probably too small for you.

[shadowroads]

[Tybalt strolls after her, leaning against the wall as she sorts through the mess of her bag. This seems familiar somehow.]

It's the thought that counts, I'm told. The clothing will dry.

[He wouldn't exactly jump to wear women's clothing, anyway. Not that he wouldn't look great in it, it's just not his first choice.]

[trifurcate]

Well if you get impatient I think I have a robe in here somewhere...

[Bryn fusses through clothes once more and--aha! One large scarf. No hooded jacket, unfortunately. She tosses it in his direction and then starts peeling her wet pants off to change.]

That should cover you up fine I think, unless you've some objection to the color green of course.

[shadowroads]

Green will do.

[Hopefully she won't wait for thanks, because he won't even think about giving them. He tries a few different ways of wearing the scarf, covering his ears, then shakes his head.]

I suspect that any way I do this will look ridiculous.

[trifurcate]

[He seems to care nothing for her getting changed, and so she slips into the dry pants quickly, watching every so often as he tries to arrange the scarf.]

That's entirely possible, but only for a moment at least, rather than show everyone something you don't want them to see, right?

[After a moment, she approaches, hands lifted slightly as if to reach for the scarf.]

Hmm, may I try?

[shadowroads]

[He's more occupied with the scarf problem... and not really in a 'looking at other women' stage. Being in love with someone is so inconvenient that way.]

If you like. I doubt you can make it worse, at least.

[trifurcate]

[Eyes on the scarf, she reaches up for it, pulls it off easily, and finds the center. She reaches up to settle it over his head so that it covers his hair entirely. Then she takes the ends and wraps them loosely over his mouth, not enough to obstruct breathing but enough to hide his teeth if he talks.]

Hmm.

[And then, she tugs the scarf down a bit more so that it shades his eyes somewhat.]

It'll look a bit strange to be hiding so much of your face while walking around town, and you'll have to probably remove it on the way out for the officials but...it'll do. I think.

[shadowroads]

[Tybalt's eyes narrow, and then he shakes his head.] No, it's more conspicuous than just going without, I'm afraid.

[He unwraps the scarf and folds it neatly before handing it back to her.]

Once I'm back on the turtle I can vanish well enough.

[trifurcate]

[Bryn wrinkles her nose a moment and then nods.]

Probably, especially if the weather isn't cool or windy enough to warrant that sort of covering. Maybe you can find something here in the city.

[She takes the scarf back, slips it back into the bag and gets back to changing.]

Does it get tiring though? Hiding what you really look like?

[shadowroads]

[The question makes him laugh.]

It's something we're used to at home. If we're out in public, we have our illusions on. But here... well, I spend a great deal of time on four feet rather than two. That's less of a trial.

[He's more cat than man, after all, even if he walks and talks like a man.]

[trifurcate]

We?

[She blinks at him, pausing mid motion...and then continuing slipping her shirt back on over her underthings...then another thing occurs to her.]

And you can shift your form entirely? To...what exactly?

[shadowroads]

If I give you all the answers, it'll get boring.

[Though he doesn't mind giving her a few. He's tiring of the charade, and growing more comfortable with how those with powers are treated on Tu Vishan.]

I can turn into a cat.

[trifurcate]

[Bryn offers him a wide smile, pleased by this answer.]

Oh that's incredible. There aren't many in my world that can do things like that.

[She opens her mouth again to ask another question, and then stops. Perhaps his comment about giving her all the answers was a polite way of asking her not to ask so many questions.]

[shadowroads]

[Hardly. But there aren't going to be any answers that involve telling her he's fae.]

There are a fair number in mine. I do it particularly well, of course.

[trifurcate]

Of course.

[She smiles, easily accepting that.]

Are there others who can do other things in your world? Have other talents or different kinds of magic?

[shadowroads]

[It's true. It's why he's a King, after all, and not just another Cait Sidhe: he has the whole set of talents their race possesses.]

For practically anything you can think of, there's a race that can do it. Some kinds of magic are more universal than others- practically everyone can do the illusions you saw me with.

[trifurcate]

[Hmm, interesting, interesting.]

What about...splitting? That is, a person splitting into copies of themselves? Is that common?

[shadowroads]

[He considers that.]

That one I haven't heard of, actually. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist- I don't know everything- but it would be rare.

[trifurcate]

Well now you have, because it does, and yes, it is.

[She smiles and lifts her chin.]

Seemed only fair to tell you what I can do since I know what you can do now.

[shadowroads]

[Tybalt raises his eyebrows teasingly.]

Don't be so quick to think you know everyone's secrets, but yours is very interesting. I'd ask to see it if we weren't under the auspices of some dampening power.

[trifurcate]

[Bryn grins and shrugs.]

Maybe when we're both back then, I'll be glad to show you. Will you show me what you look like as a cat though? I'd like to see if it's not too much to ask.

If you like, but it's not all that dramatic. I can show you something a little more interesting.

[But... much less comfortable.]
