OPEN | Wally West ( Kid Flash )
Characters: Wally West and You
Location: Keeliai - Fire Sector
Situation: Day 02: Wally's been here for a day already - he's yet to make a network post, mostly because he's been concerned with finding work. He's just found a job that fits and he's exploring the city.
Warnings/Rating: None, yet.
[ So aside from the whole situation of winding up here yesterday, Wally West was doing alright. His long ride to the city and settling down had gone off with ease - aside from getting strange looks now and then from the locals when he expressed his disbelief in being "between life and death." He had locked himself up in the suite and spent most of that first day pacing until he fell asleep. With the dawn, he had made the resolution to find himself some work. This was definitely a sprawling place, and not a prison, or so he had determined for now. Might as well go along with the flow. An explanation from a local resident had laid out the sectors in detail for him, and that's what set him on his path for the Fire Sector.
Wally walked like a normal human being for once. It took him a good deal longer than he probably wanted, but even this impatient boy knew better than to go all that way without getting a hang of his surroundings. Once in the Fire Sector, he set his sights on every herbalist around. He figured with what chemistry and biology he knew, he'd be perfect for that sort of a job. Four turn downs. The only reason he got the job he did was because he let slip he lived in the Wood Sector and he showed off his speed. The soon-to-be boss appreciated that he could stealthily retrieve ingredients now and then, maybe cutting down on his costs to the merchants.
With that success under his belt, the ginger-haired teen was told to come back the next day for work, bright and early. Today? He had to himself to finish exploring the city. ]

Faster. I never actually measured it.

...
no subject
What? Breaking the sound barrier is kinda easy...
--Hey, can you explode stuff too?
no subject
...My uncle can.
no subject
That sucks. He never teach you?
no subject
My recreation of the accident that gave my uncle his powers didn't give me the full set. So. Speed of sound's my limit. No vibrating.
no subject
Wait--you're not a mutant?
no subject
He shook his head. ]
Nope, these powers are from my lab at home.
no subject
You made superspeed? How?
no subject
Wellll. My uncle had a bit of an accident in the lab, you see. Lightning struck a bunch of chemicals and gave him his superspeed. After he was all better ('cause y'know, chemical burns and all that), he took notes of the chemicals.
[ Wally was gesturing with this whole tale. ]
I found those notes when I was thirteen and mixed up the chemicals myself. And BAM [ Quite literally. ] I got powers of my own.
no subject
Huh. That's like, falling into a vat of radioactive waste and getting superpowers crazy. [Not that it doesn't happen on his own world. Spider bites, gamma radiation. You name it.]
I was just born like this.
no subject
[ Talk about interesting. Of course, there were people back home who were born with powers, but most people he knew had them under odd conditions. ]
Wait- You said "mutants." [ Which, he figured might be the proper, scientific term for what people born with powers, but... ] That seems kind of like an... I dunno... odd word? Back home we just call everyone with powers a "meta."
no subject
[He blinks though. He's never really thought about it being an odd word.] I guess that's just what it's always been called?
no subject
That sounds pretty intense. So there must be a lot of people running around with powers, right? Natural selection factoring in?
no subject
Used to be. Not really anymore. "Natural selection" I guess.
[Or you know, you mom going crazy and taking away a load of mutants powers and pretty much making them an endangered species but. Details.]
WOW, I JUST REALIZED HOW TINY THAT WAS. SORRY. LMAO
Oh. [ And he's getting what that means; at least, he's assuming that the numbers are low enough to be worrisome. ]
Sorry...
IT HAPPENS TO ALL OF US
It's not like it matters to me, I mean, I'm still here.
no subject
Better than nothing, right?
no subject
I guess.
no subject
[ Wally shrugged a little. ]
I'll catch you around the turtle?
no subject
If you can keep up.
no subject
Don't doubt it, dude.
[ He dashed off after that, figuring it best to wrap the day up. ]
